The emotions evoked by thought and dialogue showcase the contrast between the barber and Captain Torres, and ultimately portrays their static and dynamic characteristics. As the plot unfolds, the former remains indecisive and tentative about his actions, while the latter reveals a softer, different side of feeling in the story’s final moments. From the beginning, the barber “hone[s] [his] razor” (Téllez 342) as a way to “cover [his] nervousness” (Téllez 342). Even after he is done shaving Torres, the barber is “very pale” (Téllez 346), his “shirt soaked in sweat” (Téllez 346). Although pondering his dilemma for quite a significant amount of time, his nervousness remains constant, and appears to be irresolute. Torres, on the other hand, is

Cochise Bayhan and Alex Montoya, two men who were released from the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute (NMBHI) on October 9th in the year 2013, passed away in a shed where they were living. The shed belonged to Jose and Denise Encinias; since accommodations and caretaking services were being provided, the Enciniases had Bayhan pay $600 a month and Montoya $500 a month. The autopsy reports of the two men stated that a fatal amount of carbon dioxide was the cause of their deaths. After inspecting the shed, 27 construction code violations were found and 11 of these violations were gas code violations. The Department of Health didn’t directly comment on this incident, but they did mention that each patient who is in the Adult Psychiatric
In my personal opinion all the evidence points to Jose Antonio Ramos as the perpetrator in the disappearance of Etan Patz. Ramos was the former boyfriend of the women who took Etan to school and back during the bus strike (Berman, T., & Sher, L., 2010). Ramos was also arrested multiple times for molesting children, and police even found pictures of Ramos with boys who resembled Etan Patz in a Bronx pipeline where Ramos was living in the 1980’s (Berman, T., & Sher, L., 2010). In 1991 Ramos told a prison inmate of his named Jon Morgan, which was working for Stuart R. GraBois and FBI agent Mary Galligan that Ramos had told him that he knew what had occurred to Etan Patz, and that Ramos had drawn a map of the school bus route and knew, which
As I pose for my senior yearbook photo, I make sure to accentuate the logo on my grey t-shirt. The photographer gives me another look of dismay as he reminds of the fact that this will be the photo my classmates remember me by. However, I simply do not comply with his request for me to wear a more formal outfit. The shirt I wear reads Summit Ice in bold text. I assume the photographer just views it as a run of the mill outdoor brand and perceives me as just another stubborn adolescent. Unbeknownst to the photographer, the shirt doesn’t come from an Urban Outfitters or REI, it comes from the design of Canadian comedian Nathan Fielder. Fielder’s Comedy Central show, in which he pitches intentionally outrageous ideas to small businesses, has become one of the landmark components of my life.
Aaron Mott is a new columnist for Sandytribune.com, an online news site located in Cockburn, Australia. He has only written three columns for Sandytribune.com, but he has proven himself to be a capable writer. Sometimes inflammatory, sometimes precise and convincing, but always discontent, Aaron's writing captures the feelings of liberals critical of other liberals and popular political trends.
The short story, “Shaving”, by Leslie Norris has several modes of discourse, three of them very evident. This story is told as a narration, following a plot line from the beginning to the end. Within the plotline, description helps us understand who the main character is and what is happening in his life, the narrator mentioning that “the smell of illness was everywhere”. He then goes on to shave his father’s beard and describes the razor as it “[the new edge] moved light as a touch over the hardness of the upper jaw and down to the angle of the chin”.
Howard Roark is the personification of the phrase, “I do what I want.”. He doesn’t do anything other than for his own reasons. He is expelled from college in his third year for refusing to complete the assignments as directed. He is fired from multiple architecture firms, for refusing to bend his ideas or refusing to reach a compromise of any kind. He refuses to take on projects where he will not be given complete creative freedom to design his buildings. He lives to make himself happy, designing buildings as he envisions them makes him happy, and so he does nothing else, he plays no political games, he plays nice with no man, and he concedes nothing. This is the embodiment of Objectivism. Roark’s entire life is based on Objectivism, but the
ntertextuality is described as each piece of literature thrives of off another. Authors constantly borrow thoughts and ideas from other writers. Examples include the movies Bend it like Beckham and Goal. Both movies are about a minority family in the United States that has a child that is exceptionally talented at soccer. For cultural reasons the family doesn't approve of their child playing soccer. So the child resorts to playing in secret and becoming good enough to go pro. Snow White and Sleeping Beauty also share very similar plot lines. Both princesses are succumbed to a malevolent plan by an evil witch. After failing to escape their unfortunate destiny, they are put to sleep that only a true love’s kiss can awaken them from. The witch
Upon initially entering the hospital, Frank tried to gain a sense of control by exercising and seeking out information about his conditions. Frank (2002) states that running on the stairs gave him a feeling of the strength he still had and made him feel in control (pg. 61). Apart from his illness recovery, Frank also showed a positive self-efficacy towards his ability to make a difference in the world through sharing his experience. Frank describes in the afterward of his novel how he has been to many different countries, heard many different stories and spoken to many different groups about ideas of illness. Frank (2002) states that he feels the work he’s done has had a positive influence on the world (pg.144). Frank displayed a stronger self-efficacy

Malicious laughter, which sounded distinctly familiar, rung out in his ears regardless of his efforts to drown it out. The noise seemed to haunt Giovanni after beginning his new journey as a member of the undead but what truly bothered him was the feeling as if he had no purpose. Visions of a past that no longer held any meaning were an issue that he could handle with relative ease yet not knowing what he was destined to accomplish unnerved him to an extent not even his own death managed. Truthfully, any inklings of free will being available to zombies classified as delusional thoughts by some hopeless daydreamer that was unfortunate enough to die and be collared instead of simply
On October 27th, 2017 I had the pleasure of seeing the phenomenal Off-Broadway play entitled Jesus Hopped the A train in the city at the Signature Theatre. This play was directed by Mark Brokaw who made it factor to have send you on journey with one of the main characters Angel Cruz played by Sean Carvajal. During this journey you witness the struggle this young man deals with being incarcerated and how he haves a hard time in jail. Another main character the play follows is Lucius Jenkins played by Edi Gathegi, who is also facing his own struggles dealing with being sent to Florida, which will result in his execution. Overall the play is about Angel Cruz who gets incarcerated for shooting a priest in the butt that ultimately led to his unintentional death. While awaiting his
“Bend It Like Beckham”, directed by Gurinder Chadha is a 2002 comedic sports film, based in London, England. The plot follows an athletic 18-year-old girl; Jesminder Bhamra and her strict parents who detest Jess’ passion and love for playing soccer as it refutes their family’s Indian Sikh religious morals. Jess feels a lot of pressure and guilt throughout the film as she is ultimately betraying her family, yet everyone in her team supports her, including the coach, Joe who tries to convince Jess that her parents don’t always know what’s best for her. In every family, there is often a distinct line between what a person wants to do and achieve, compared to what their parents and family members expect of them. This cliché can be easily applied to many of the characters including Tony – Jess’ best pal, Juliet Paxton – the player who suggested Jess joined the local team and Jess with their conflicts between their families.
