One of the most telling things about rating me and the organization, for which I work, is five years ago the rating would have been much lower in all areas. My maturity as a person, along with a better understanding of how a community mental health organization works, has helped me understand the support structure of Carey Counseling Center. As a not for profit, we run a fine line in a lot of financial areas that other organizations do not have to contend with. Fortune 500 companies want to bring in as much capital as possible as their primary objective, where a community mental health must serve the common good while hoping to keep the lights on. Armed with this knowledge I will say Carey has a very informative training process, and have
The American Counselor’s Association task force was developed to raise the awareness of counselor impairments during their career in the helping profession (n.d.). This allows the counselor to discover where their own abilities are on a spectrum that ranges from wellness to impairment. Strategies for monitoring such ranges have been implemented and available to counselors to assist them in self-care (Lawson, 2007). Lawson (2007) states counselors must take initiative to take care of themselves in order to be able to serve others in the counseling profession.
Integrated approach to counseling is when you combined theories to cover the clients’ feelings, cognitive patterns, and behavior (Corey, Theory and Practice of Counseling and Pschotherapy 8e, 2009). Each theory focuses one of these key components of a client but in counseling you need to focus on each of these to fully help a client. The key to integrative counseling is to have multiple theories function in harmony (Corey, Theory and Practice of Counseling and Pschotherapy 8e, 2009).
The American Counseling Association (ACA) offers memberships for Mental Health professionals ranging from students and private practice to the retired professional who wants to remain connected with other professionals. Trevor Richardson, who serves as interim director of OSU Counseling Services, and asked if he would agree to meet with one of us to discuss our project and potentially identify plausible solutions to the problem. Dr. Richardson promptly responded to our email, and kindly agreed to meet with us for an interview (See Appendix 3 for interview questions).
All programs and trainings combing the total reached to $11,765. This total covers all three counselors and each assessment. The total would remain the same for following years as we continue to keep up our knowledge to date and continue to train new counselors if needed. This cost is needed to benefit not only our agency and counselors, but our clients who are needing help to apply for the appropriate career they
On April 7th, 2017, our group visited the Gracepoint Crisis Center for both, adults, and children. Gracepoint Crisis Center was developed to ensure that every individual receives adequate mental health, regardless of their economic status. Gracepoint focuses on behavioral healthcare, substance abuse and developmental disabilities. Both centers provide the convenience of mental health treatment closer to home, as well as it helps patients connect with resources in the local area.
The means to which the services are provided is through appointments and walk ins. CSS is a walk-in clinic from 10 a.m. until 5 pm, when clients come during between 10 and 5 they can be seen that same day (Community Counseling Service, n.d.). Additionally, clients can make appointments during the day, evening and or on the weekend. Additionally, the fees for the service provided by the clinic are based on income and number of people in said client’s household. The CSS takes Medicaid and will even help clients with their insurance claims. CSS makes it clear that
ICM received a return phone call from Mr. Bonfonti and Mr. Rivas, therapist at City Wide Community Counseling Services. ICM had been attempting to reach Mr. Bonfonti in an effort to activate him for BHSI ICM services. During this conversation ICM discussed the services available to Mr. Bonfonti through BHSI. Mr. Bonfonti informed ICM that he was not interested in receiving services, stating that he was already receiving services through City Wide Community Counseling
Carey Counseling Center has served the mental health needs of west Tennesseans for several decades and the clients are the most affected portion of the paradigm with their mental health needs being legislated and grant written. When the legislators in Tennessee demand the Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation cut their budget by percentage points, the contracts of insurance companies come into question. The issue relates to who is most affected with this paradigm shift and the answer is the consumer. If it does not bring in enough revenue, CCC will be forced to close whatever service was crippling the business of CCC and the client is typically the source of change whether they like it or not.
Your post was insightful and thought-provoking. You stated that Jim “could still be unstable emotionally, not confronting his sin until later in the sessions would be the best course of action”. This seems to be a paradox for the Christian Counselor because we are taught to confess our sin, which is a form of confronting. Can I share with you how Paul summed it up about confronting sin? Paul stated in 1 Corinthians 5:12 what business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside. God will judge those outside. Expel the wicked person from among you. We see sinful destructive behavior day-in and day-out in the world today. If you watch television, internet, advertising, and people in your neighborhood,
Opportunity assessment is often identified as a critical step in assessing the next process for an organization as it relates to growth, profitability and efficiency. The communication assessment is vital to system and structure analysis and one of the most key terms in this description is effective. Communication for the sake of communication is void unless it relates a more precise and direct form of learning. In this case, Carey Counseling Center has an effective communication system designed to facilitate inpatient services. As CCC has grown in the last year, it has struggled to keep up with the flow of information to the correct departments, allowing the most utilization of new programs. Flow is very important, and our text author,
Though, the additional problem that exists in the organization is the governmental budget restrictions, which continuously challenge the judicial system by dividing its funds among other judicial programs and services, and secondly is hiring qualified facilitators to assist the program. As a result, this program is not offered regularly, which also put the programs consistency at risk. It is very important to take into consideration that Client Services and Family Counseling Division plays a major role in our society to reduce family violence by educating and counseling men to promote safety and non-violence
Individuals who choose to become counselors must realize that they will come into contact with individuals from a wide array of backgrounds. These clients may or may not hold similar worldviews and may not be able to readily identify with the counselor. Hays and Erford provide a number of reasons why clients from diverse backgrounds terminate or avoid counseling altogether. These reasons need to be acknowledged by counselors and taken into account when determining how to address the needs of these clients. By doing so, the counselor can ensure that he or she is offering a counseling environment that is conducive to providing the best quality care for the client.
