With the past of the time is believed that cars have to be better and better. Cars have been one of the humans’ greatest inventions. At the same time has been considered cars to be a problem, because of the pollution, smog and the accidents caused by young people. Like in America there are too many problems in relation to cars in too many parts of the world. For example there’s Germany, France and Colombia. First there’s Vauban, Germany were accorded to the article the 70 percent of the population does not have a car and the 57 percent sold it to live there. It is curious the way people feel relief without having a car instead of being stressed. Many people in America would be going crazy because is essential to have a car in the daily American life. This is a nice idea because in the article says that “Passengers cars are responsible for 12 percent of …show more content…
They’re benefiting the environment, which is one of the number one thing persons should take care of. At the same time Paris kind of harm Diesel and other transport and delivery companies. Plus they make the economy a little bit weaker. They should prepare themselves much more, because it is a really good initiative movement. But that doesn’t mean that the same government is the one who allow those things. They allow ecological laws, and non-natural laws. Then is Bogota, Colombia, all this is true, most of the time is this way. People is too poor to have a car. At the same time this helps in a lot of ways, is ecological and doesn’t weakens the economy because is only in one day. One of the best parts is that other parts of Colombia are joining into it, and making of the planet a better place together. Not only from Colombia, from other parts of South America too, for example Asuncion, Paraguay. Also the government is actually helping the population and making it more comfortable for them. So like that they don’t have to complicate themselves too
As people have difficulties to reaching services and activities without having a car, owning a car has its disadvantages and problems also. The problem’s origin date back to the 1920s. While cities were being planned, overall design was based on car usage, but did not account for growth in that population. Urban sprawl added to increased car usage, which was not taken into account during the design phase, and improper

Pertaining to the “day without cars” tradition the city of Bogota, Columbia : “It has seen the construction of 118 bicycle paths, the most of any Latin American city…” (Belsky, 3) A single day without cars has encouraged not only, new businesses to spring up and infrastructure to be improved but also physical activity to become more common in countries that implement such a tradition. In my own experience, a less sedentary lifestyle means lower risk of heart disease, obesity, and other weight and activity related ailments. In addition car usage reduction seems to lessen stress, a claim that mother of two, Heidrun Walter testifies to. “ ‘When I had a car I was always tense. I’m much happier this way.’...” (Rosenthal 1). This is a benefit that cannot be ignored as higher stress levels can take a toll on your mental health. Last but certainly not least, is the fact that less smog will discourage the pollution-induced respiratory illnesses permeating the developed world. Polluted air is not meant to be breathed and less of it is better for the whole of the
Vehicles have been evolving for years now. Seeing two different type of cars going against to see who is better, Is amazing. Comparing their Quality,Style,Gas,History and their parts in these amazing bodys of two great cars designer. To judge these cars are cause it depends on the person taste. Also in these cars we going to see who is the best manufacturer is just impracticable they are both well known in there own way.
To the common individual, a car is simply a means of transportation. However, from the social stand point, the automobile impacts people’s daily lives in a larger aspect. The modern automobile was inspired by a toy made for a Chinese emperor. The toy was not
In my opinion, all pollution standards should be tightened but over a period of time. I agree totally that pollution is out of hand at the current time, however it is a problem that has built up for many years and can’t be solved all at once. I feel that it is somewhat unfair to those companies who depend on their current status. By implementing procedures and regulations that are to occur over a period of time, it allows many companies to adjust gradually. I also feel that this policy of carbon trading should be eliminated. Although it does generate income for industries that currently comply, it allows many others to evade responsibility. I also feel that such things as public transportation and carpooling should be stressed. It provides an alternative that will drastically
According to Foner, “By 1960, 80 percent of American families owned at least one car, and 14 percent had two or more, nearly all manufactured in the United States”(). Many families owned automobiles, for it enabled long-distance vacationing and commuting to work, malls, etc. The ability for people to travel farther distances through means other than trains and trolleys stimulated a population shift from cities to suburbs. Approximately one third of Southern California, a mainly suburban area, was “paved over with roads and parking lots,” hence showing a transformation in American landscape. Infrastructure had to accommodate for cars as they became central to American life. Not only did the automobile alter the American landscape with a web of roads and freeways, but it also led to “the construction of motels, drive-in movie theaters, and roadside eating establishments”(). The automobile revolutionized America, as it allowed for individual mobility and private choice-a symbol of
During this time the average family could now consider going out and buying an automobile. Before, only the rich were able to buy a car due to their outrageous price. I cannot imagine life without someone in my family owning a vehicle. It may not affect people in the cities because they have other means of transportation, but in rural areas like we live, a car is essential.
The article I chose this week is by Ester Fung and gives light to a lifestyle I hope to never find myself…living in a big city without a car. Housing developers in big cities such as New York, San Francisco, and San Diego are opting to build apartment complexes and condos without the option of parking spaces for residences. One developer claims, “It’s the future…there is a strong demand for people who want to buy or rent units that are efficient”, while “local authorities seek to encourage the use of mass transit and free up space for parks, housing and other uses” (Fung, 2016). Parking decks and garages cost big bucks, and in cities where space is limited those decks have to be built underground, driving prices up and onto the consumer.
There’s hardly a person alive in America today that hasn’t ridden in an automobile of some sort at some point in their life. We’re all connected to each other by roads crisscrossing roads and highways all across country, and yet few people understand how we got to this point. They simply accept their magic metal box will work when they put the key in to start their car. Long ago, this country once had a great love affair with the American Automobile, and it was a turbulent, passion filled, amazing ride.
Transportation has been and will always be evolving into something new. Before the first car though, people either traveled by foot or by horses with man made trails. The resulting speed was slow and unreliable in rainy or snowy conditions. This changed in the 19th Century, with the first practical example of the Automobile.
This is one of the main cause environmental pollution. Canadian vehicle owners are now double what they were in 1960. (The David Suzuki Foundation, n.d.). In Canada, Moreover, about 9 million workers said that they had never used public transportation to commute. The reason why they don’t use it, because about 7.4 millions of these people thought that public transportation would be somewhat or very inconvenient (Campbell, W., 2011, October
In recent years, major cities across the globe have developed innovative new methods of transportation that could revolutionize the way humans travel and ultimately replace automobiles throughout the industrialized world. Many supporters of this movement believe restricting the use of cars will have a positive impact on society as a whole. Some people believe that taking away automobiles is preposterous given the gravity of which citizens depend on them; although true, replacing cars would have significant benefits throughout society that would outweigh this consequence and ultimately create a new global social order. Restricting cars in cities and encouraging alternate methods of transportation would reduce humans’ carbon footprint, make cities
I believe that we should keep the automobile and it should remain a central part in all American’s lives. To many of us the automobile represents freedom, and if we remove the automobile from America you are taking our freedom because we wouldn’t be able to travel wherever whenever we want. We would have to take the bus or a train or a plane and it would limit our ability to travel. Not to mention that people who first bought cars the car was very foreign to them. Before the car people had to bike walk or take a train which took effort. When the car came out they could just hop in the car and go wherever they wanted to.
The photo below is what it looks like stuck in 7am traffic on my way to work. People rely on cars more now than ever. Cars are relatively the recent phenomenon. Automobiles have been around for a very long time but yet it manages to make a big impact on U.S culture. People are going deeper into debt and for longer periods of time because they continue to buy more expensive new cars. Car buyers help increase the economy which is progress made since the
