The model implementation based on the policy change that our group choose related to foreign nurses working in the U.S., and I may use, will be based on new recruiting models and transitions programs on education in order to analyze and expedite the process without affecting the ethics on scope of practice and safeguard the patients. Also how can qualified foreign nurses be recruited in a way that does not disrupt the delivery of vital health services to local populations of source countries, especially those countries with poor health systems and high burdens of disease.
Boards of Nursing take disciplinary action in order to protect the public by insuring that only properly qualified and ethical individuals practice nursing. The practice of
The nursing “Scope of Practice” provides a legal explanation of what Registered nurses can and cannot do, lawfully. The registered nurse gathers patient information like health history for example. The RN also evaluates assessment information to determine present or possible diagnoses to discuss with the attending physician, the RN cannot give a diagnosis on their own. Registered nurses can determine if a medication is right or wrong for a particular patient but cannot change prescription on their own or prescribe any medication in any circumstance. Just as Registered Nurses must follow a “Scope of Practice” they must also follow the “Code of Ethics”.
I'm Maria Guadalupe Garcia, and a mother of four, the youngest having ASD. I tried to find a logical reason behind the diagnosis. Was it the Diet Coke I drank when I was pregnant of him or the coke we gave him to drink when he was a baby? Whose side of the family did it come from? How was his birth different than that of his brother’s? All of these questions, left unanswered, only increased my tension. I'm more at home on social care issues, and as a parent quite involved in issues around transition. I'm also an ABA technician for Centria Healthcare. Each and every time I worked with a new client, my son comes to mind. He may not had received the needed services. My family may not have been provided with the necessary support and information.
Nursing is not an easy job and those who chose it as their profession are truly special people. Nurses are confronted with ethical decisions that need to be made on a daily basis. Often they know the right thing to do but because of circumstances like institutional structure and conflicts with others, obstacles are created and distress ensues (Jenner, 2001). It is during times like these that nurses must rely on the training that they have received as well as the code of ethics that has been set down for their profession in order to do the right thing.
I think this is a great program for the immigrant nurses but may not be necessarily beneficial to all qualified nurses who are US citizens actually working in the field. Unfortunately when you bring a foreign worker to programs like that, it may prevent salary increases, reduce the chance to have any incentives or bonus, which will result in making the nursing profession less attractive for Americans, making them leave the profession because of the low wages, but also discourage them from attending nursing school.

Regulatory agencies and accreditation bodies have held a part in the nursing community for many years. The regulation of nursing began as a simple registry process to protect both nurses and the public alike. Today, the primary purpose of regulation is still the protection of the public, but also relates to defining nursing practices as well as nursing education (Flook, 2003). The roles that regulatory agencies play in the nursing educational setting are many. In order to
1. The nurse is asked to implement a new, complex, and invasive procedure and is concerned that this may violate the state’s nurse practice act.
The Pathway to Excellence® Program touts 12 practice standards or core concepts that are nursing centered including the ability of nurses to control the practice of nursing and recognition of nursing for achievement (see Appendix A) (American Nurses Credentialing Center, 2014). These standards have shown evidence of overall nursing satisfaction, which is a key influencer in nursing satisfaction and retention. Pella Regional Health Center provides a post-designation exemplar of participation in the Pathway to Excellence® Program. Key outcomes included that 99% of nurses felt a key part of quality improvement strategies, 96% felt they were a key part of changes to patient care standards, and 98% felt nurses were involved in professional development strategies (Drafahl, Beyer, & Chow, 2012). The designation confirms a supportive nursing environment with a practice based on standards
This article give me a better understanding about a nursing degree. As I was reading the Paradox of Nursing Regulation article I realized why is it so important for an individual to practice Nursing with a license and without a license. In this essay I am going to summarize the article by talking about the history of nursing licensure, the nursing practice act, some of the recommendations, and some of my suggestions for the problems.
A profession can be defined as a “prestigious occupation with a high degree of identification among its member that requires a length and rigorous education in an intellectually demanding and theoretically based course of study; that engages in rigorous self-regulation and control; that holds authority over clients; and that puts service to society above simple self interest” (Schwirian, 1998, p. 6). Nursing is just that, and with its specific body of knowledge, standards, and codes of ethics, it is only fitting that it be self-regulated (College of Nurses of Ontario, 2012). The College of Nurses works with registered nurses, registered practical nurses, and nurse practioners to determine whether or not standards and best practices are met and that the public’s safety is protected.

The aim of this study is to provide a detailed account of the nursing care for a patient who is experiencing a breakdown in health. As the nursing profession progresses throughout the years, its nature becomes more complex in meeting the professional standards and codes of ethics that are required by all nurses. The American Nurses Association has a specific code of ethics that each nurse should follow and adopt as their own beliefs. The public and the patients should be the priority when providing care in the healthcare setting. The knowledge and education that nurses’ gain is valuable and allows them to encourage health, avoid illness, restore health, and aid in coping for those who are all ill. (LeMone, pp.192) Given that the code of ethics is put into place, there are many registered nurses who violate these codes in various situations. The following will discuss
There are many different variations of healthcare professionals that assist people in regaining and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The career field of licensed nursing is often considered to be one of the most vital professions within the medical community. Registered nurses work to prevent and heal various different types of injuries, diseases, and illnesses. With the increase in responsibility, the role of registered nurses consistently changes to accommodate individual patient needs. As a result, the rise in responsibility placed on registered nurses correlates to a higher probability of malpractice and negligence occurring within the community. The consequences of malpractice and negligence can
