I met with Maria Thompson and Mark Paxton from the Community Food Bank in regard to their site improvements. The Food Bank is requesting CSDC administer a contract with Avila Construction for their site improvements to San Felipe Rd frontage and parking lot improvement that access their building. The contract amount is $57,461.The Food Bank Board has approved the expense and repayment in full to CSDC if we choose to administer the contract. A repayment agreement between the Food Bank and CSDC would need to be drafted prior to approving any contract.
Ke’onte Cook, a ten year old placed in the foster system, was put on medication for ADHD, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia without ever being diagnosed. The strength of the medication he was put on it had caused him to be extremely irritable, lose his appetite, and develop insomnia at the age of ten-years-old. The longer he was on medication, the worse his side effects would get, causing young Ke’onte to be hospitalized on three separate occasions, all of which led him to a prescription of more behavioral drugs. After being adopted out of the foster system, he was taken off of the medication and put in therapy. After the switch, Ke'onte’s behavior problems had nearly disappeared, he was more focused in school and overall much happier. There are many children and

I am writing once more to demand an appeal of the decision to deny my request to exempt myself from participating the meal plan option, regarding the 2015-2016 academic year. I wrote previously to explain that under my personal belief system processed and non-organic foods are inadequate to my diet standards. Aramark supplies Loyola University’s food. This same “food” is then eventually served in the campus dining halls. Aramark foods are infamous for not only the terrible quality of their products, but the adverse reactions they cause in stomachs after being consumed; which is directly a result of the unnatural ingredients in their products, like the use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and pesticides. Therefore by my tradition, I cannot consume Aramark foods of any kind. This was all expressed in my initial
As a student of California State University, Los Angeles, I am writing this letter to bring up the issue regarding the lack of healthy food options available in our food court. Students are on campus for a long time and when they get hungry their only choice is eating at the food court that only offers 6 options to choose from not including those that are out of campus. Out of those 6 options almost all of them are known as fast food restaurants. Although CSULA’s food court is only limited to 6 options that do offer a variety of food choices, it is important that healthier food options are implemented because the food from those restaurants can lead to health problems.
Kroger competes with its rivals by having good product quality, product variety, and customer services. Kroger insisted that product quality is crucial in building consumer loyalty and brand image. Great companies do not just get new customers, they want customers come back for more. Customer loyalty brings long-term sales, and Kroger did a very good job on this. Kroger’s outstanding private brand products had earned the market share. “Consumer research, the finest ingredients, and our rigorous testing produce the quality behind our corporate brand” (Kroger, 2015). Kroger is able to monitor the production and distributions of their products; it has developed one of the strictest inspection and specification systems in this grocery market. According the research, the quality of beef is checked by some tests such as USAD Choice, Certified |Angus USAD Choice, and Natural Beef Select. Kroger also promised that their pork is 100% natural and poultry products are grown organically and locally. Seafood, vegetables, and fruits are guaranteed to be fresh. All products in Kroger are held to the same high standards. Because of its time efficient systems and distribution systems, Kroger can stock new and fresh products every
The social problem the Charleston Area Churches Food Pantry, a non-profit organization, deals with the social problem hunger. According to our textbook, Social Problems, a social problem is a condition that undermines the well-being of some or all members of a society and is usually a matter of public controversy. With that being said, world hunger fits the category of a social problem for many different reasons. Being hungry can cause humans to get very sick and have starvation related illnesses. Not only may someone suffer from these illnesses, they could potentially be killed from them. Those who work with the Charleston Area Churches Food Pantry favor the solution of making those in need of food aware of food pantries so starvation related illnesses are less likely to occur. When our social group spoke with the manager of the pantry, he gave us a sheet that has eleven different food pantries listed with their locations that he often gives out to customers because they are unaware of all the help them actually can receive.

Recently, a few of the top chicken producers such as Tyson and Perdue were claimed to treat their chickens inhumanely. Not just that, many of the large food companies such as McDonalds, Kentucky Fried Chicken and Chick-fil-A are being exposed by their contract farmers. To create a voice for the animal, many articles, websites, and books were created, dedicating to petition for animal rights, especially for chickens.
Instead of feeding cattle and chicken with what grow naturally (grass and grain). Chicken and cattle are fed with antibiotics (which forces viruses/bacteria to mutate into something more deadly to humans), growth hormone (Roxarsone), animal by- products (blood, feces, processed feathers) and “rendered meat” (even from “downer” cows, which are not able to walk and at high risk of BSE.) The objective of feeding animals with these ingredients is to ensure the food is affordable to everyone, high in nutritional values and disease-free. However, the article strongly criticizes the costly price humans pay from feeding animals with these inorganic/ridiculous materials. “In 2000, FDA concluded that Roxarsone had spawned drug resistance; and FDA had identified some of the rendered meat being fed to cattle is contaminated with mad cow disease. Consequently, humans are
The practitioner intends to utilize qualitative approach as a tool in measuring the outcomes of the Clarksville Food Bank through the involvement of residents facing the challenge. And, the method of qualitative research helps to identify the perceptions about the program by observing, interviewing, and analyzing them. And, as a procedure it can assist in recognizing the existing and non existing issues in the
Woolworths demands that HACCP plans are based on ‘Product Specifications’. The fact that it regularly assesses products’ compliance to specification is another factor towards maintaining a high standard of quality management.
Best Foods Company is a multinational worldwide food company whose vision is “To be the Best International Food Company in the World.” (p.713) Best Foods set out to make some serious strides in diversifying their organization.
