WOOSTER — With funding tight, area 4-H leaders are looking into ways to raise revenues in order to enhance and expand programming. This past year, the Wayne County 4-H program introduced a fee, which generated about $20,000, said Doug Foxx, Wayne County Extension educator 4-H Youth Development. The fee was $10 per Cloverbud, $15 per 4-H member and a total cap of $50 per family. Scholarships were made available to help families. About 40 people from 17 families received assistance through the scholarship program. “Nobody likes new fees, but there is a lot of value” in seeing the program expand, Foxx said during a recent meeting with the Wayne County commissioners. Because of the fee, the Wayne County Extension Office was able to have two full-time
In the fall of 1980, the Congregation of Calvery Community Church, led by Pastor Dr. Carl Godwin, founded Parkview Christian School. Under the leadership of Bob Winebarger, the school began as a Kindergarten through eighth grade school. “Those were glorious days, Winebarger relates, “as we saw God’s hand moving to provide a Christian School to the residents of North Lincoln. Within two years of opening, the school expanded and began to offer a K-12 academic program. Continuing to expand to minister to families in Lincoln, a preschool and daycare were opened in the fall of 1991. Parkview Christian Schools now operates three separate locations for preschool and daycare for young children. A few years ago, Parkview Christian School stepped out from the umbrella of the church and became a separate non-profit entity.

It’s the middle of the winter of 2009 and my family and I are on our way to my very first meeting with the Three Rivers 4H Club. I am incredibly unsure about what 4H is, in fact, I had never even heard of 4H before my mother presented the idea to me in the spring of 2009. My mother brought the idea to me because I was tired of lying around all summer and I needed something to do. To fix this dilemma I was having, she did a little bit of research on the Internet for summer activities and programs around Carlisle and the state. That’s when my mother stumbled across an Iowa State University link for something called 4H. After she and I sat down and talked about 4H I found out that I loved the idea of all 4H is and what it does.
The foundation itself was dedicated to bettering life in the county. The Hoyt foundation pursues the passion that May Emma Hoyt had for bettering the quality of life, health, employment and education. In earlier years the foundation purchased the Pittsburgh coal seam and in 1903 signed an oil and gas lease, which added to the foundation's assets. Today the foundation uses its assets to fund school activities like the Pennsylvania Business Week and other organizations. Each year the Hoyt foundation also grants students in Lawrence County with scholarship money, which helps them

Case Statement Analysis An external case statement is used as a “sales document,”1 pitching a fundraising campaign to potential donors. Moses County Summer Academy’s (MCSA) case statement exhibited multiple strengths, but more prevalent, were the misguided and poorly executed techniques that struggled to inspire donors. Few would be sold on a MCSA fundraising campaign after reading this case statement. Strengths MCSA’s case statement possessed several strong characteristics, including: (1) demonstrating the need and urgency for money/funds, (2) highlighting the organization’s mission, and (3) appealing to the donor’s emotions.2
The case I chose was one that took place in Houston, TX, in the Houston Independent School District. I chose it because Houston is where I was born and grew up, and I wanted to use a case that felt close to home for me. This case was about a student who, throughout the course of about two years, displayed several signs of aggression, defiance, and general misbehavior both in class and at home. The misbehaviors ranged from “pestering and irritating” his/her siblings at home, throwing tantrums, and becoming easily upset or angered. The student also led a lonely life, both in class and school, expressing dislike and resentment towards siblings and other family members, as well as stating that student “feels student has no friends.” In class, the
