Coming together to prepare women for leadership opportunities is a page right out of the broader history of the Victorian period, and something we hold especially dear as members of a women’s fraternity. The Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation is committed to funding the preservation of Kappa’s heritage, not just to showcase some old jewelry or a piece of furniture, but to teach from our history. Maybe you are interested in chapter-specific information on Kappapedia, the birth of the Fraternity at The Stewart House Museum or the archives at Kappa Headquarters. There is so much to reflect on and learn. Taught to love learning and literature, the six Founders were educated, exceptional young women who felt very much able to take on the world. Sound like anyone you know? We thought so too. Our treasured history is transported into the present with every new member and every new leader because together, we are one. From a time when achievement was rare, and succeeding among minority was minuscule, a sense of order was needed. During this time Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated came into the world, bringing core values and achievement. Within the five objectives Kappa Alpha Psi showcases the distinction of itself from other fraternities. The founding fathers had the desire to shape a unique group personality different from the other greek letter college organizations, around the idea of achievement. When achievement was mainly concerned with improvement of personal status, security, and meeting the demands of everyday living the founders of the fraternity envisioned something bigger. Thus bringing about the Five Objectives that men of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated live by and exemplify on a day to day basis showcasing Achievement in every field of human endeavor.
Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority, Incorporated purpose is to be of service to all mankind dealing with critical issues in communities domestically and internationally. What I have grown to understand an envision a woman of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated to be, I accredit largely to the ladies of the Gamma Theta chapter. This has the result of attending many of the chapter’s events during my time at Hampton thus far. One of my favorite events was a screening of a documentary Girls Rising. I learned to appreciate every opportunity to learn and gain knowledge because in some parts of the world girls are restricted from receiving an education. A
While conducting research on the partnered sororities of the National Pan-Hellenic Council, I discovered particularly fascinating attributes associated with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. What fascinated me the most was the sorority’s distinct dedication to education, sisterhood, mentorship, and international service. I desire membership of the first organization people look to for help; that is Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. This sorority has made its way relevant from 1908 to modern day and progressively moving forward. I want to be able to say the same thing about myself.
When I think of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., and what the purpose of the sorority is, I think of “Giving back to community” heling others who are in need, as well as using avenues provided within the Sorority, to help young ladies excel not only in the community, but in their career goals, while developing long lasting friendships.
Delta has been able to focus on more important needs and issues at the time and have reunited sorors with the organization, gaining more help and support for the organization all while promoting all what Delta stands for.

FAfter my resignation, I moved to Morenci, AZ where my spouse had started a job 6 months prior. I started on my Associate in Business administration at EAC in Fall of 2013. There were some courses that were difficult, but managed to pull through. I was surprised when I was selected to join the Phi Theta Kappa honor society at EAC. I graduated in May of 2015.
As a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, my academics must be my highest priorities. However, even before I received the invitation to join the community of honor students and alumni, I was keen to educate myself. Unlike some, I did not continue my formal education immediately preceding high school. My family lacked the resources to get me there, so I had to work for it; I had to want it. The time between my schooling was spent working hard to eventually work even harder once I could afford to. Days off were spent reading countless books at public libraries—reference and recreational—dabbling in anything I
Members of Omega Sigma, Houston Community College’s chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, hosted their first general meeting of the fall semester on Sept 4 at the West Loop campus.
Little did I know, the incredible role models of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Ms. Nicki Harper and Ms. Loretta Bookman, wanted to stress the importance of being a lady, a leader and a well-rounded individual. These ladies and the Delta GEMS program influenced my curiosity so much that toward the end of high school, I researched and learned more about Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. I learned the members exemplify 3 of my core values: service, leadership and excellence.
The organization that has been the most impactful since I started college has been Sigma Kappa sorority. Sigma Kappa was the first organization I joined when I got to K-State and in many ways I think it is the reason that I became even more involved throughout the last two years. Being a member of Sigma Kappa first exposed me to other opportunities on campus. One instance in particular is there is a member that is very involved in the Student Governing Association. She often would stand up during chapter dinner and describe different ways women in our sorority could get involved. Her passion for the SGA inspired me to make my own run for a senate seat. Another activity Sigma Kappa exposed me to was the Homecoming Committee, after participating

I am sincerely honored to be a recipient of the William D. Kavan Scholarship for fall, 2017. I'd like to thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your generosity. Your gift will allow me to continue with my higher education and fulfill my lifelong dream of obtaining my undergraduate degree. Specifically, your gift of scholarship enables me to continue working towards completing concurrent major programs – a B.S. in Political Science, and a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies (concentration on Justice Studies and Sociology). I am particularly proud of being recognized on the Dean’s List last semester, my first term spring 2018 GPA of 4.22, and my recent induction into the Alpha Iota Sigma Honor Society.
