Assigning blame is bench cleaning brawls like the Toronto Blue Jays vs. Texan Rangers is extremely difficult, If not impossible most of the time. There is always a video, reaction and context to work from, nut there is plenty we don’t view and know. This most recent brawl occurred in the top of the 8th inning, games almost over but not quite yet! The Texas' 7–6 win on Sunday after Toronto right fielder Jose Bautista went in hard to second base on a take-out slide and was punched in the face by Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor Bautista, who was struck by a pitch from the Rangers Matt Bush at the beginning of the inning, was at the middle of the fight after his aggressive slide into Odor at second base on a double-play ball off the bat of
The fact of the matter is the player intended on injuring his opponent when he shouldn't because that is not in the job description. They need to hammer this into the athletes' heads, even if you are doing it to protect another teammate, retaliation cannot be stood for no matter what.
It was a nice and sunny day, with birds chirping and the smell of freshly cut grass. I felt the leather on my baseball glove and the delicious taste of cereal. I’m ready to play some baseball.
For Father’s Day this past year my family and I treated our Dad to a Houston Astros baseball game. The game was held at Minute Maid Park in the heart of Downtown Houston. We were running late for the game and it began to rain. While driving around I witnessed more homeless people on the streets than ever. As we walked to the stadium after parking, I could not help but think about each of their (the homeless) situation. It was daunting to me that they were spending a holiday alone and it was a norm for them. Homeless people are often not given the time of day by everyday citizens. Chris Hadfield explains that when a problem exists, human nature causes us to bolt from the situation rather than approach it immediately (Hadfield 55). Currently (2016) there are approximately two million Houstonians (Suburban Stats) and of those, more than 5,000 citizens are homeless (Homeless Houston). It is easy to forget about the homeless because they are neglected from society. If homeless people were given a purpose, then they would not be occupying space on the streets.
Every sport has its own unique signature that separates it from the rest of the sports world. Baseball has the homerun, basketball has the slam-dunk, golf has the hole in one, and football has the touchdown. But, perhaps the sport with the most distinguished and unique signature is hockey and its fights. However, hockey officials and executives are trying to eliminate the games most distinctive aspect. Yet, because of the recent decline in the amount of fighting in the National Hockey League (NHL) and since a ban on fighting in the NHL could jeopardize the popularity of the sport, eliminating fighting from games may not be necessary. Over recent years, the amount of fighting in NHL games has been on the decline and the role of the one time

During the 1920’s and 1930’s, which was a time of discrimination and racial injustice for African-Americans, to whom Major League Baseball was exclusively off limits, was considered a “White Man’s Game.” Until 1947, when Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier in baseball, by suiting up for the Brooklyn Dodgers on Opening Day, April 15, 1947. All baseball fans know the story of Robinson and the integration of baseball, but, the more important stories come from his predecessors, who worked hard to make Jackie’s feat possible, and to those who would come after themselves. We all know the names Satchel Paige, Josh Gibson, Oscar Charleston, and Ray Dandridge, but we don’t all know the extensive struggles they faced in order to help African-Americans
Baseball has been played by millions of people all over the world. The sport has been a staple of entertainment on radio and tv for many years. And just in the last few decades there has been a huge spike in arm injuries, and a lot of them have been in younger players. "Year-round baseball is number one,"is what Dr. Andrews said about Tommy John surgery(Snyder). What year round baseball means is that players play baseball in the fall and winter months, this never happened in years before. Also kids are now being allowed times for their arms to rest and heal. Year round baseball should definitely be regulated one reason is the increasing amount of arm injuries in younger kids, Also the kids may burn out mentally and not want to play the sport anymore, they may just one day say they do not want to
The American League East has been a very competitive division for decades mostly because of the heated rivalry between the Red Sox and Yankees. That is still the case in 2016 except the other teams like the Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays have this division even more entertaining in recent years. This season I think the Red Sox are the best team not only in the division, but also in the American League.
As Snell was getting up, an official stood over him and reached out both hands towards Snell’s upper chest. Snell reached up and grasped the official by the wrists and pushed the official lightly away by shaking his head. A flag was thrown, a 15-yard penalty was enforced, and Snell was ejected from the game.
Bradley Jones, a player got into an argument with the first base umpire who called him “out” because he thought he was “safe”. Bradley got upset and threw his batting helmet to the ground. The helmet bounced off the ground and flew into the stands, striking Adam on the side of the head causing serious injury. Adam never saw the helmet coming be he was looking around the stadium.
The Texas Rangers (53-53) will go for the sweep this afternoon against the AL West leading Houston Astros (60-48) at Globe Life Park in Arlington. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm from Arlington, Texas. The Rangers will hand the ball to Nick Martinez (6-6, 4.01 ERA) as he will look to put together another nice performance after his last time out against the Giants. The Rangers will need a strong performance from Martinez, because the Houston Astros will turn to staff ace Scott Kazmier (6-5, 2.10 ERA) hoping to salvage a game of the three game series. Fox Sports Southwest will carry the game live locally, and MLB.tv subscribers can watch worldwide on connected devices.
Sam Dyson was summoned out of the bullpen after a magnificent outing from Hamels, and he surrendered the knockout blow. Jose Bautista launched a home run into the left field seats, scoring three and making it 6-3. It was a devastating blow for the Rangers and the Rangers faithful, rivaling only the heartbreak that they experienced during game six in 2011.
Before the start of the game, the tension between the teams is high. “Trash-talking” of the day is at its peak between the two teams. Both the Cubs players and their fans are particularly focused on hurling taunts toward the Babe. Some of
"I went to a fight the other night and a hockey game broke out." Rodney Dangerfield. Ever since the start to the game of hockey, violence has always played a role in the sport. While that role both contributing positive and negative aspects to the game, violence has taken its toll on not only the players but the fans as well. As violence in hockey is as many fans say part of the game and what makes “hockey” hockey, the negative outcomes overweigh the positive. From fights to brawls, slashes to high sticks, boarding to head contact the violence surrounds the entire game. As fans cheer and rant at their full potential when a fight breaks out during a hockey
their team to teams with deeper pockets. The A’s have the least money of any major league team. The cards are stacked against them with no star players, no money, and no edge in scouting new players. About six months later, the team had won more than 100 games including a twenty-game winning streak in August. (2002 Oakland Athletics Season, 2017) How did they do it? By all measures used at that time, the A’s should’ve had a down year. They should have been one of the weakest teams in baseball. Despite this, they finished first in their division and tied for the most wins in the league. (2002 Oakland Athletics Season, 2017) The secret to their success was data driven analysis of player performance, which they used to find
