Climate Change
Climate change is a large-scale, long-term shift in the planet's weather patterns or average temperatures. Earth has had tropical climates and ice ages many times in its 4.5 billion years. From Climate Change in Australia 2016, changes to the climate system have been observed at a global scale, in the measurements of temperature at the surface, the middle atmosphere, increased, increased sea surface temperature, increased ocean heat content and increased water vapour in the atmosphere. One of the main causes of climate change in recent years and that is projected to cause major increases in global temperature in the future is greenhouse gas emissions. The concentrations of carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide in the atmosphere have increased to unexpectedly high levels since pre- industrial times.
Rising Sea Levels
Climate change has also contributed to rising sea levels through causing two main processes. Thermal expansion which is the process of which ocean water expands as it heats up and additional water flow which is caused by melted ice water flowing into the ocean. Evidence shows that sea levels have risen as a result of climate change through observation of paleo indicators, tide gauges, and satellite measurements. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change states that over the last century global average sea level rose by 1.7 mm per year, in recent years (between 1993 and 2010) this rate has increased to 3.2 mm per year. Climate Change- Climate is a long term change in the Earth's weather, especially due to an increase in the average atmospheric temperature. According to research, it was discovered that the Earth's temperature rose by 0.6 degrees Celsius (C) and predicted that the sea surface temperature may rise by up to 1 degrees C over the next 50 years. Unfortunately, carbon dioxide and methane gas levels are the highest they have ever been for the last 420000 years. These two gases with water vapour, nitrous oxide and halocarbons create the five predominate greenhouse gases, effecting the environment greatly. Climate change is the unusual change in the average temperature of the earth. This unusual change is primarily due to the burning of fossil fuels, oil and coal. Burning fossil fuels releases carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. These gases act like bricks in a fireplace. They radiate heat in all directions long after the fire goes out. Because of the large amounts of fossil fuels burned each year, there is too much heat radiation. For that reason, the earth’s temperature has risen and will continue to rise, which has a negative impact on ecosystems.

Climate change is defined as a change within climate patterns that is largely due to increasing levels of carbon emissions in our atmosphere. These emissions create a blanket like layer around the earth that creates a heat reflective surface. As the sun’s rays hit earth, normally it would be bounced back into space but the earth would still retain some heat from the rays that it was hit with. The emissions blanket creates a barrier that traps more rays within the atmosphere of the earth as heat rays have a harder time going through the blanket into space. Climate change is caused through the increase of greenhouse gas emissions within Earth’s atmosphere. Through trapping sunlight, temperatures have risen over the past years thus being called climate change. However, through things like being energy efficient or changing aspects within daily life climate change can be lessened. Reducing gas emission both in peoples own life as well as world-wide is also an important response to reducing the effects of climate change and it is also important to be involved in organizations for the environment in order to help promote climate change.
