Self-esteem is the confidence in one's own worth, it is a person judgement of how people feel or think about themselves whether it's negative or positive. It can be about your body image, goals, looks, personality and so on. Low self-esteem can be caused by past negative experiences or negative comments. It can also be caused by personal failures, maybe not meeting the standards you wish you could or the standards people want you to meet, stress and bullying are causes of low self esteem as well. Other than these causes there are still more that may cause someone to not feel worthy of themselves. In the article she states that “ Too little self-esteem can leave people feeling defeated and depressed “ meaning some people may not feel like they are good enough or they may never reach their full potential and sometimes that gets people depressed. Sometimes friends and family influence one to have low self esteem, they may something like talk about your flaws but they won't notice it's hurtful because of the relationship. School can also influence someone's self-esteem, school sometimes makes people set high expectations such as getting good grades. How can we help people all around the world who suffer from low self-esteem? Why should people care about what people say to them. People get so hurt off of the things that they put on the internet and everywhere when they see it but, when they say it to their faces it’s like a joke to them but when they go home or some places that is quite and has no people and they start to think bad about themself and they don’t know how to escape it until someone tells them something positive and important.
Self esteem is based on what kind of importance we give to ourselves, it is to think how valuable we are to the world and how valuable we think we are to others. Self-esteem takes part in our every life aspect either it`s trusting others, our relationships or in our working conditions. Positive self esteem gives us the confidence and reacting cool in the situation to see the flaws in our mistakes and stay on the right path with the fear of rejection.
