I want to work with celebration cinema because as some one who really loves film, and would like to go into it I value the work that goes into maintain, and running a haven of cinema. I've spent days of my life completely at a movie theatre, seeing films, and the only people I've interacted with are cast members. They were all very kind, and supportive. So I would like to give back to cinema, and to movie theatres in anyway I can.
With Film Analysis comes the analyzation of films and movies that depict narrative structure, cultural context, the evaluation of discourse, and many other approaches. The film, “Friday” (1995), is a comedy and drama that displays the relationship between two childhood friends growing up in an impoverished neighborhood. These two friends became affiliated with a neighborhoods drug dealer, and were startled and clueless as to how they were going to come up with the money they owed him by the end of the night! The characterization, setting, and conflicts are the three main elements, in which are portrayed can indicate the analyzation of contributing a larger meaning of this particular film.
Director Brett Harvey documentary, The Culture High is an interesting story that takes a raw and honest look that tears into the very grit of modern day marijuana prohibition to reveal the truth behind the arguments and motivations governing both those who support and those who oppose the existing pot laws. As we ask ourselves will marijuana be legalized in our lifetime? Or is the “war on drugs” really fundamentally affecting this country? This documentary states two reasons why the information on cannabis is kept from the public, either just one joint can cause psychiatric (mental illness) episodes similar to schizophrenia (a long-term mental disorder) or the addiction and how this drug can lead to another drug. The thesis that this documentary
American Experience, a PBS program that shares stories with us from our history, displays the very events and tools that shaped our nation. Their film: Scottsboro Trials, was a moving and informative movie about racism in America and the impact it has left on us. To this day, this movie still has an important message to teach and show. Racism is still a problem and more than likely always will be, this is a sad part of life that we must do our best to deal with. American Experience puts racism up in our faces and reminds us of what we have done. This film opens up our eyes to our past and in doing so, makes us better people.
Film director David Redmon, created the documentary Mardi Gras: Made in China, following the trail of beads from a factory in China to Bourbon Street during Mardi Gras, emotionally exposing the imbalances of globalization. Redmond skillfully illuminates the clash of cultures by comparing American excess and consumer ignorance against the harsh life of the Chinese factory worker. The film began with the Mardi Gras celebration in New Orleans where people gathered to party, drink alcohol, and expose themselves in exchange for brightly colored plastic bead necklaces. The stories follows four teenage women workers, providing insights
Culture is the main factor to intercultural communication that we often overlook and perhaps even mistake them because of stereotypes that we believe to be correct. I like the film Arranged, the way it started by how Nasira explain to the principle Jacoby at Brooklyn public school. Why she has to wear a headscarf? She tells other teachers including the principle that it is her religion and she follows the rules according to the Quran (Holy book of Muslims). She also lets them know that it is voluntary and upon her own wishes; she is not being forced by anyone and she feels protected by wearing it. I'm the film one of the Sean were interesting to me. In the lunchroom all treacher were getting along to Each other while Rochel and Nasira were sitting in separate benches and they passed each other an awkward smile. In the classroom, the kids question whether they hate each other since they have heard that the Muslims want to get rid of Jews. Rochel designs a unity circle exercise in order to help the students better appreciate differences and the benefits of choice and community.
This essay aims to discuss the origins and traits of film-noir. The characteristics of film noir will be developed through methods of questioning, debating and arguing, in order to gain an understanding and knowledge of the characteristics of film noir. “We could make the case, as many critics have done, that film noir is, in fact, not a genre at all but merely a particular stylistic inflection of a crime drama.” (Nelmes, 2012.194) Film noir is not easily defined.

When I was little, I stumbled across the soundtrack of an Italian film titled Cinema Paradiso. I began to fall in love with the narrative aspects that were portrayed through the music. Every time the soundtrack played, beauty and hope rushed through my veins. It felt as if I was being nurtured by its warm-hearted tone. I would lie on my bed with my eyes shut, listening to the soundtrack for hours. I imagined myself conducting an orchestra in a crowd filled auditorium, voicing my own stories. I knew that music was what I wanted to do and that it was my only escape from what I called home.
Released in 1988 by director Giuseppe Tomatore, “Cinema Paradiso” follows the life of a young boy in Italy who dreams of being a filmmaker. The road the boy, who eventually becomes a famous Italian film director named Salvatore Di Vita, takes to reach his goal is difficult and includes many sacrifices and trade-offs. Today, the film is widely regarded as one of the most popular foreign films ever to be released in the United States. Given that foreign films are fairly common in America, it is fair to consider why “Cinema Paradiso” received such critical acclaim, as well as relative mainstream popularity. “Cinema Paradiso” received critical and popular praise because the film includes several timeless themes

Direct Cinema The term 'direct cinema' was coined by American director Albert Maysles, to describe the style of documentary that he and his contemporaries were making in the 1960s as a result of a lightweight, portable 16mm camera and high quality lightweight audio recorders becoming available. The introduction of these, together with film-stock which was sensitive enough to give a good quality close-up monochrome picture under most lighting conditions (Including hand-held lights) led to a revolution in Documentary filmmaking, allowing film crews to be much more flexible. Gone were the days of bulky, virtually immobile 35mm cameras; now manufacturers improved their 16mm stock and accepted it
Drama is one of the most intriguing forms of literature. Unlike typical literature, drama is put into the form of a script in which actors must take the roles of the characters and act out their given dialogue in front of an audience. Drama is particularly composed of dialogue, the lines spoken by the characters, stage directions, the actions in which the actor must take, and scenes, the events of each play which are acted out. Plays do not typically contain narrators that tell the story. Instead the actors depict the characters within a story and present it to an audience. Dramatic theater, presumably started within ancient Greece, where the citizens performed presentations as a devotion to religious gods or to “mark the coming of spring.”
When I think about Hollywood, I think about the world of celebrities with beautiful smiles who make millions of dollars every year, famous movies and TV shows, Walk of Fame and major films studios. It always reminds me one of my favorite quotes from the movie “Pretty Woman”: “Welcome to Hollywood! What`s your dream? Everybody comes here; this is Hollywood, land of dreams, some dreams come true, some don`t; but keep on dreamin’ – this is Hollywood”. And you would think that in such diverse world of Hollywood, where lots of people come to pursuit their dreams, everybody should have equal opportunities but everything is not that easy.
One of the world’s major centers for theatre, Britain has a centuries-old dramatic tradition and about 300 theatres. There are several thousand amateur dramatic societies in Britain. The Royal Shakespeare Company performs in Stratford-upon Avon and at the Barbican Centre in London. A modern reconstruction of the Globe Theatre, close to its original site, is under way.
