“Pick a partner,” said my 7th grade teacher, as we were about to do a science experiment. Everyone in my class picked their partners, except for Melohn and me. I had no choice but to be partners with her, which I have no problem working with because we’ve known each other since elementary school. The group that has the most questions right gets bonus points. As we were about to start our experiment, one of my classmates whispered, “We’re going to finish faster than you guys.” Melohn has cerebral palsy. When you think of someone with cerebral palsy, you would think that they’re not gifted. However, instead of being placed in a special education class, she was placed in my class. I never realized that my classmates, including myself, were looking down on Melohn due to her condition. I remember in elementary school when everyone would stop playing if Melohn joins the game. …show more content…

It also made me feel mad since she’s my friend. I know that Melohn was sad after hearing my classmate said it because she didn’t say a word. I knew that something has to be done to prevent it from happening again. I grabbed our things, moved to the other side of the classroom, told Melohn not to listen to them, and just finish the experiment. Once everyone was done with the experiment, my science teacher announced that Melohn and I received the bonus points. After class, most of my classmates were asking her how we all of our answers were correct. My classmates underestimated
