There were many challenges faced by the colonists in the New World. However, one might feel that the greatest challenge that the colonists faced in the New World was simply survival. First of all, the harsh journeys to the new world along with the ignorance, or lack of knowledge, of the territory and climate, and establishing a new way of life and order greatly affected the survival of the immigrants to this new territory, referred to as the New World.
