Chapter two of Be Our Guest focuses more in depth on guestology. It breaks it down into the different components that make it up, called the guestology compass. Disney makes every effort to know their guest, by actually knowing them they can determine who is not coming to their park. Demographics is known as factual knowledge of guest. The point of demographics is figure out who you are targeting and know what they are coming for and to also figure out who you are not targeting. It’s a good way to ensure change in order to target the people who are not doing business with you. Psychographics are clues and hints to understand the guest a better level. Psychographic looks at the psychological/personality traits, lifestyle or values of people in the demographic segmentation. It helps to breakdown the data from the demographics and break into even more detail about the segment to give you a better idea of how to market to that segment. It gives information on the targets behavior and attitudes by looking at their lifestyles and values. There are ways for Mattel to gather this information. Mattel can perform a survey, use web tools, analysis subscribers, and outsource to a marketing firm. Conducting a survey will be good for Mattel, but since the target market is mostly kids Mattel would have to survey the parents. The parents are the ones who buy the toys and are influencing the children’s behavior and values. The survey can help Mattel find out what the parents will purchase for their kids. In addition, it will help Mattel find out if the family is active and likes to do outdoor
My first trip to Disney World, now that, that was a memorable trip. That trip was one of the most magical and happiest memories of my life. It was back in 2008, I had just turned 6 years old a few months before we left to go there. It was summertime, and the weather was perfect. I remember being so bored on the way there because I am an only child so I didn’t have anyone to entertain me besides myself. My mom’s side of the family went on this trip with us, and at the time I was the only grandkid, and the only kid at all. So once we finally were almost there I remember passing the big ‘Welcome to Disney World” sign and being so excited I peed my pants--my mom was pretty mad, but my dad thought it was kinda funny so I didn’t get in too much trouble.
Psychographic characteristics, also known as psychographic segmentations, include the core identification of the end-users. These characteristics could be the lifestyle or personality of the end-users.
In the article, “Dear Kids: We’re Not Going to Disney World. Period.” by blogger Bunmi Laditan, she displays an overall dislike towards the notion of taking her children to Disneyland. Laditan states, “What you also need to know is that the thought of taking all three of you and the stuff you require to live on a plane to a theme park vacation makes me physically ill.” Laditan’s point is that, no matter how badly her children want to go to Disney, the thought of doing so, is so horrendous that it will not happen. She backs up her point with vivid examples to depict the chaos that would ensue if she did take them to Disney. According to Laditan, “You will find not a trace of jest when I say that I would rather be forced to experience back labor

The thesis for “things Walt Disney never told us” by kay stone is that the heroines of the grim and Disney versions are very rarely given their own story and chance to shine, And when they do they are always translated the same and never offered any other versions of themselves only just passive and pretty. She supports this thesis with examples such as: In the intro she talks about how well known North American fairytales heroines are by giving an example of how a burglar was caught with what the headlines named “the Cinderella approach” where the police was able to track him to a bar by his missing shoe found at the crime scene, she uses this example to talk about how even though fairytales are popular the heroine are not ever given a second

I remember planning for this day for about two years. When I would finally get the chance to be with my best friends and take a road-trip to California to go to Disney Land, and now that the time to take that trip has come and gone I would like to talk about my most important journey.
Here Disney had strategic plan in terms of consumer focused initiative. A consumer initiative often includes steps for a company to increase sales by differentiating products in the marketplace, marketing goods or services to new demographics or creating a new customer service function to handle customer requests.
