You won’t like every book in a certain genre, but knowing smaller details such as character traits you enjoy will help you find a book you’re likely to enjoy. Do you like clichés? Do you prefer a main character that is brave or shy? What are a few of your character development pet peeves? Not all stories are different, but there are only so many combinations that can be used, and so traits will resurface in different books.
Getting Book Suggestions Once you’ve decided on a few traits and genres, then you can start asking friends and family what books they’ve enjoyed. It may take you a while to find someone with similar book taste as you, but if you can find a few people that have suggested books that you’ve enjoyed, then return to them every
What is it about a book that keeps one reading? One continues to read a book when it is interesting and if they can make a connection to it. But, what makes a book interesting? There are many ways authors attract their readers. Authors use different techniques like, circle chronological order style, evoking strong emotions, and creating complex characters to shock and lure their readers.
The book is a good book because it makes you ask questions while you're reading it but what's happening and to get a better understanding on what's happening in the story. Like in my book the characters wonder if their dad is going to come home from the war and if he's alive or dead. This makes you question if he is really dead or alive
All of these factors in the stories are important to the plot. Little similarities appear between each book, yet they share the similarity of being relatable. The reason why these books are so popular, to teens in particular, is because people can relate to the feelings and emotions of everyday people. Their experiences might not be as dramatic, but feeling like an outsider or like you have to just go along with what people tell you to do is a common feeling that most people share. Feelings are probably one of the most universal things that people feel. These differences and similarities make the stories what they
Digging into a chapter and realizing that each one is a different event in her life, is thrilling. The reader forms opinions and creates a vision in their mind about the characters and scenery. There are times where I found myself asking questions and wondering what
There are many reasons to like a book or story. Everyone is interested in a variety of genres and series that tend to their personal interests in things. Some books are super suspenseful and leave you incapable of putting the book down because you have to know what happens next; others though are just on subjects that have educational knowledge on something you want to know more about. There are so many different ways to write like, romantic fiction, realistic fiction, non-fiction, science fiction, etc. From all of those choices, each reader finds something different that they have a passion for. Throughout the stories we have read over the summer, I have found a love for the story called The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. The story The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is one of the stories I have come to like because it is one of the books where you have to piece it together yourself, it is your typical love story, and it is very suspenseful.
Sometimes the book made me laugh and I cried a bit in the end. You defiantly get caught by the book, by ‘A’ and the fascinating life ‘A’ lives. You want to know what happens with the people you meet through the story. You easily feel like you’re apart of the story.
Another aspect that attracted me to novel was they way it was written. Although the book did have separate chapters, the way that it is written make the novel flow as if it was one big paragraph. There are moments in the story where characters converse but speech is not noted by quotation marks or paragraph breaks. This is a type of writing that even the most experience authors fail to accomplish, but Cole made it seem so effortless. Such a style of literature is bound to keep readers interested. If felt as if the reader was reading a diary versus a novel. Included in the novel includes forms of
There are lots of things that contribute into a good reading experience. A few of them being, you have to want to read the book. You also have to pick a good time where you can focus on the book. Also, you need to be able to evaluate every couple of pages to make sure that your understanding what's happening in the story. In the book I read there's this part where he falls in love with the common
Ellen Hopkins’ books are nonfiction but with other names. Her books are written about her daughter, telling what had happened with her. Aside from reading all of her books I have a page and a half of other young adult nonfiction books I would like, but those are only some, I still have not finished making a list. Reading Ellen Hopkins’ books has really helped me absorb interest in reading and writing. I would like to start reading and writing more than I
are the topics of the novels, the endings of the books, the nature of the characters, the way
One of the best features of the book is how it was written. The point of view changes every chapter. For example Chapter 1 is written in the point of view of the infamous Foxy character. Chapter 2 is written in the point if view of our protagonist, Steve; and so on .I also liked how the author built the relationship of the characters up, so you care about what happens to them and feel like you're going through what they are going through. For instance, the author tells us of Steve's wife's death. We find out that Steve's son,
There are many different ways to attracting a person to a book, and one may ask what those different ways might be. Although an author can attract a reader based on the title of a book, or the opening sentence, but a good book uses literary devices such as figurative language, diction, syntax and much more which is all based off of style. In the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle, style is used throughout the whole book and contains on a lot of details which makes the novel both compelling and pleasurable to read.
Some readers who are not fan of this kind of genre may find it a bit less interesting but it's a sure must
I agree with Victor Nell a psychologist of the pleasure of reading, he says “ when readers are enjoying a the experience the most, the pace of their reading actually slows.” I have noticed this from personal experience when I am reading a book and I am enjoying it then I slow down while I read I take my time to really try to imagine and feel what the characters are going thru or try to picture their situation as if I was them. When I have a good book I picture the settings, the charter, their homes their lives. I usually read books that are about teens going through difficult situations my favorite author is Ellen Hopkins. Her novels are very different she talks about things other authors might not feel comfortable writing about her writing can make a person feel that they are right there with
