Chemical engineering has been my passion since high school. Having dad who is an engineer clearly backs up my interest in the field of engineering although my dad pursued a different field which is mechanical engineering. I always admired to be an engineer having my dad as role model. I did not know what to pursue till I got to high school when I was able to delineate my strengths. From an exemplary performance I could tell chemical engineering is the path I need to pursue. Chemical engineering has been my passion since high school.

Besides performance, I am thrilled by the amazing fundamental facts of science especially the interaction of chemical and material, research and experimentation to yield products that can benefit the society. I am confident in pursuing chemical engineering because I will pursue what I have loved and been competent in since I was young till now.
Chemical engineering application has a broad range of fields of specialization ranging around thirty. Some of the fields in chemical engineering that one can specialize in are; engineering and polymer science, industrial biotechnology/pharmaceutical process and pollution control (Herbert Wertheim college of engineering, n.d.). My main interest and what I would love to specialize in is pharmaceutical processes and, manufacturing. Pharmaceutical process and manufacture deals with manufacturing if drugs, conducting research and experiment to develop new drugs and also the actual process of manufacturing by determining the quantities of combination.
My goal in specializing in pharmaceutical process and manufacture is to contribute to innovation and improvement of drugs. I would love to use the knowledge I have acquired to take part in inventions and research in drugs. This is inspired by the fact that there are illnesses that have no cure, other illnesses have no cure but vaccination could help individual cope with such ailments. According to the Occupation Outlook Handbook chemical engineers use chemistry, biology, physics and math to solve problems. They conduct research, develop new manufacturing processes and design new materials all while having the opportunity to specialize in numerous areas. This means that I would be able to utilize my interest for math and science in day to day life, and this career would match my personal interests.
Out of all of the skin care products in the world, your bathroom cabinet needs to be filled with products researched and designed by me. When I entered high school, I discovered my passion for selecting lip sticks, lip glosses, lotions, perfumes, and makeup foundations. You name it. After learning about the connections between the information in my chemistry class and these items, a light bulb went off! I maintained an A average in chemistry throughout the whole year! Additionally, in 2014, I became a student in the Academy of Engineering and Technology, which also heightened my interests in chemistry. In a science fair at that academy, there was a chemistry course where we made colorful slime, and during that process, I learned that I get an adrenaline rush when I am mixing different chemicals together to see what the outcome is. Majoring in chemistry at Norfolk State University will definitely prepare me for a very successful future in chemistry! My ultimate goal is to conduct research and development for chemical cosmetics. I plan to obtain employment at the greatest companies in the world such as L'Oréal and Avon.
I am very much interested in the field of engineering and hope to pursue a career in engineering sometime in the future. Although I haven’t decided which branch of engineering I want to pursue yet, my experiences as an engineering magnet student at Wheaton High school and the different engineering programs I am a part of have ignited within me a passion for engineering.
This process of manufacturing and my eventual love for mathematics and the sciences enthralled me into engineering to better improve the method of production of all products being commercial or military. Next year, I plan to major in Computer Engineering and begin a career helping make the world a better place through innovative technology. I realized my talents for math and sciences during freshman year of high school, and remember the exact moment I knew engineering was meant for me. While exploring the engineering shop at my vocational technical high school, the teacher showed my class a video of MIT students designing prosthetic limbs for amputees. It was then that I realized I could use my love of math and science to really help people.
After taking AP Chemistry, I knew that I wanted to study chemistry in college. I also have been a very inquisitive person my whole life, wondering why things are and how things worked. My inquisitive nature and love of chemistry is why chemical engineering appeals to me. I am drawn to Biomedical engineering due to its application of both chemistry and biology to solve medical problems. Doing a complete 360, I am interested in art history, because not only do I find art fascinating, but I also find it mesmerizing how artists visually represent and were inspired by the world around them.

I have literally known what I want to be since I was a toddler. Of course, as a three-year old putting together Legos, I could not have verbalized that I want to be a mechanical engineer. However, it was at that time that I began to develop and use the skills that I will need for my desired career. I began to consider how parts went together and the different components necessary to build and sustain various systems. Part of the inspiration was the simple fun that I had while putting together these small toys, but part of my inspiration was my father. He was a maintenance turn-around coordinator at an oil refinery, which led to my own desire to work as a mechanical engineer in a refinery one day. As I grew older, my interest in mechanical engineering remained constant, though I expanded my interest beyond the oil refineries. In fact, after attending a pre-college program, Jackling Introduction to Engineering, offered by Missouri Science and Technology in Rolla, Missouri in the summer of 2011, I realized that engineering was the perfect way to exercise my curiosity and inventiveness in a constructive and productive manner.
I particularly love experimenting with the challenges involved in understanding Chemistry. The different aspects of Chemistry, as well as the continually changing requirements of our society, fascinate me. I wish to build up my career as a renowned researcher and participate in the cutting-edge research in the field of Chemistry. I also dream to have hundreds of publications in conferences and Journals with high impact factor. I believe that pursuing higher studies will be the best way for me to start the journey towards my goal. Moreover, the Ph.D. degree would not only extend my understanding of what I have learned until now but also help me to develop my career as an academician in future. A doctoral degree could help me to train up myself in finding; evaluating and documenting a research problem in a methodical way that I need most to become an organized and meticulous researcher in future.
