Chevrolet Media Assessment The media plays a critical role in American societal structure. Not only does the media attempt to inform the populous of current affairs, as the fourth estate, the media serves as a form of checks and balances on the political spectrum. It is worthy to note, the role media is given is a challenging one. In general, the media is expected to inform the public of any information which is pertinent or useful to the populous. However, defining exactly what topics, stories, or events are the most critical to divulge to the public at large, also has the adverse affect of shaping the social climate. Of the six articles examined in relation to Chevy, clear agenda setting is found in few. However, after reviewing the various articles it is clear what agenda is most likely to be pushed when an agenda is pushed, is corporate responsibility. Reputational risk. The article covered by The Chicago Tribune, poses great repetitional risk to Chevy, while displaying agenda setting by the news source. The article covers a small strike, involving only nine employee, at Al Piemonte Chevrolet in East Dundee (Danahey, 2015). However, the article is written and formatted in a way which seems to make the story bigger news than it may actually be. The strike incident happened at a local Chevy dealership, which may not reflect on the feelings or practices of Chevy as a whole. The article does not contain any direct statement from Chevy regarding the situation, yet does contain quotes from the employees, as well as a labor board
