The investigative journalist, Eric Schlosser, has written a book to illuminate an epidemic that started in America and is now becoming one of the world’s largest problems. In Fast Food Nation, Schlosser frames today’s Fast Food giants in history,American entrepreneurialism, and over consumption in respect to consumer and employee wellbeing. The power of all modern Fast Food giants combined have eclipsed the power of any one government. Marketing has become a key component to luring consumers to fast food. Schlosser makes the argument that a once All­American ideal, fast food has grown too big to control.

Before they became Chick-fil-A sandwiches, they were just listed as chicken sandwiches on the Dwarf House menu. Soon the chicken sandwich was outselling hamburgers. In 1963 Truett decided to give the sandwiches a name to help market the product. When he consulted a patent attorney he was told that he could use ordinary words as long as he misspelled or altered the meaning from the dictionary usage. Working with the words “chicken” and “filliet”, Truett came up with Chick-fil-A, making the “A” stand for the first or best. He then hired the Richard Heiman Company to create the logo that is still being used

The company of restaurants started in 1946 when Truett Cathy opened his first restaurant in Georgia. They are credited with inventing the Chick-Fil-A’s boneless breast of chicken sandwich. In the 1960’s, he pioneered the opening of the restaurant in different malls in Atlanta. It has grown to become the largest quick service chicken restaurant chain in the United States based on their domestic annual sales and with over 1900 branches countrywide. The restaurant is privately held and family owned and has been progressing in the delivery of exclusive services to all their customers. The mission of the restaurant is to give identity and value to their clients and the vision is to be America’s best service quick restaurant.

Which is better, Chick-fil-a or Zaxby’s? This is a popular debate. Some people would argue that Zaxby’s is better because they have better chicken. Other people would argue that Chick-fil-a is better because they have better sauces. They both have their benefits, but which is better over all? In order to find this out we can’t go off of taste because everyone has different taste preferences. We must look at many aspects of both restaurants. Some aspects that can determine whether Chick-fil-a or Zaxby’s is better are drinks, desserts, sauces, prices, efficiency, cleanliness, and the attitudes of the workers.

Chick-fil-A was established as a company in 1946, it was first known as Dwarf Grill and later became known as Chick-fil-A in the 1960’s. The company has since then grown into a billion-dollar corporation with over 2,000 restaurant locations in 43 states, the company is still privately held and family owned.

For me, the most important thing a company should focus on their website is the “you attitude”. If it is done correctly and clear, the customers will continue to be attracted to visiting the website and using that company. If it is flat out incorrect and not use effectively, the website and company will suffer. If the audience does not feel like their needs are being aided or feel like they are not important to the company, they will simply stop visiting the website and company. Chick fil A is a unique company and is clearly different from most fast-food restaurants; employees are kind, helpful and maintain a clean environment no matter where they located. As stated previously Chick-fil- A’s corporate purpose is constructive in addition it emphasizes their culture “To glorify god by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us. To have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil- A.” (cite) This statement truly shows how the company’s leadership has created a culture where service is just as important as profit. The emphasis of this section of the paper will be to research while also analyzing how Chick-fil-A makes people a priority and how doing things in an uncommon way has certainly helped Chick-fil-A create a strong culture as well as a successful business.

During a brief period of time, the fast food industry has helped transform not only the American diet, but also our countryside, economy, workforce, and popular culture. The book thoroughly describes how important the two factors of money and power are in today's society. The book clearly establishes the broader thesis that as consumers, we should know what we eat even if it makes us uncomfortable by the knowledge.
