The hip-hop genre has set standards and norms for rap throughout its development. Eminem’s “The Way I Am” and Vanilla Ice’s “Ice Ice Baby” are examples of well-known rap songs written by authentic rappers. In the early 70's, a Jamaican, DJ known as Kool Herc attempted to combine his Jamaican style of disk jockey, that involved reciting improvised rhymes over the dub versions of his reggae records (Davey 1). He also invented turntables, which kept the music going, with the occasional voice on the top of records, which started the roots of rap music. He and his Lovely wife Evelyn Ervin now live in Elgin after living on the south side of Chicago for over thirty years. He and his wife have one kid named Edwin, who is an in the music line. Moreover, I needed a different perspective from someone of a different age. And equally for my second reason I picked Mr. Ervin, is because of the matters Mr. Ervin has attained over period of time. Being capable of working with some of the today's and past hip-hop hitters; such as Taylor the Creator, Kanye West, Q-Tip, Eric B. & Rakim, etc. is a huge asset to my research on trap culture.
A. Chief Keef (real name Keith Cozart) is largely known as a rapper from the South Side of Chicago who brought awareness through his music about the violence and murder going on in Chicago. Many debate whether this awareness has increased or decreased the violence, and personally I believe it’s a mixture of both. In his well-known hit “I Don’t Like” he insults the police, women, and promotes gun-related violence and crime. Though this certainly doesn’t
