Child abuse is a serious matter in the United States and many other countries. Child abuse can occur in a variety of setting, such as at home, at school, or any other public or private place. Grown men and women mainly aim for young children because they think the young children are clueless and naïve, and that they don’t know any better. The people who commits this act think the young child cannot put up a fight and they will probably forget what occurred. (Smith). To duce high child abuse rates in America, more organizations should be created by the government, and awareness assemblies should be held in schools.
People who abuse children are usually close to the child, like a family member or a guardian. It can even happen at a school or any place where the abuser can have the child alone. For example, the case that took place in Los Angeles on February 5, 2014 when the prosecutors dropped he case against Martin Springer, which was a third grade teacher at Miramante elementary school, springer was accused of molesting a student. In 2012, a child abuse problem also occurred at the elementary that was later announced to be the biggest scandal in the Los Angeles Unified school district, 85 teachers that worked at Miramante elementary school was replaced so the parents of the children were assured that their children were safe. The 11 year old girl that was molested by the teacher was to afraid to testify in trail, so the case had to be dropped. Springer had his teaching license revoked and the unified district paid $30 million in civil settlements
Child abuse in America is an ongoing problem and something needs to be done. There are approximately one million children abused annually in the United States. (Table 339) Cases of child abuse and neglect are reported every ten seconds, and researchers believe that there’s three times that amount that goes unnoticed. (Child Abuse: Know the Signs and Stop the Violence Against Children.) Something needs to be done for these children who are too weak and too powerless to help themselves.

Psychologists, social workers and the victims to childhood abuse have studied and worked together to establish precautionary measures to execute child abuse all together.
Some children are left to be watched by another family member or a friend of the family and get sexually abused by them. Sometimes children are forced to have sexual activities going on with an adult without the parents knowledge. That leaves the child to think that their parents really do not care for them. This is caused mostly by lack of education about the different types of child abuse, and the signs that go along with it. Communities need to provide more resources to better educate the public about the types of abuse, and the signs that go along with it. Child abuse comprises a violation of the basic rights of children and teenagers, and has been a major social problem in the world’s societies since time immemorial. To most of us, the notion of an adult using violence against a child is both repulsive and deplorable, and the worse the behavior is, the more intolerable it seems.
