Holistic development of a child. A human develops from conception upon three domains until death (Shaffer, 1989, p.6). The three domains are namely the cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains which is the mind, emotions and physical growth respectively. It is vital for a human to develop in these three aspects with balance. A person will holistically develop in an appropriate way if these three domain develop at equivalent rate. For instances, a child is taught a song of days in a week building up the psychomotor skill, name the days of the week orderly which develop the cognitive, and appreciate the importance of the days in one(s) life developing the affective domain. The holistic development of a child is crucial in consideration of the environmental, biological, social and emotional factors and its contribution and impact in a child’s development. The three domains, Cognitive, affective and psychomotor develops together as a child grows from conception and onwards in life till death. There are theorists that have studied human developmental stages and have come up with theories that may be a guide to the human development. According to Bloom’s taxonomy on cognitive, the brain starts from the simple to the tough function of the brain.
