Children are being robbed of their childhood by corporations, that do not care about them. These corporations turn a blind eye towards the dissatisfying life, that is led by these children. They do not care about the children's education or the manner in which they grow up, and they expose them to harsh physical labor and unsatisfactory pay. These children are robbed of the years in which they should lead a normal child's life, and they don't get to truly enjoy being a child. One reason why there is child labor is because of poverty. Some families need money to support their family so they're so desperate to get money they send their children to work. At a job site www.laborrights.org said children make about six cents an hour. When the children are done working www.un.org said they are forced to beg on the streets all alone. After their day of begging and working they must return back the next day and do it all over again. So you might be thinking, “so what?”, poverty is a thing that is holding the children back from having a normal life. It is easy to separate oneself from social responsibilities as many people in the countries of global power, like the United States, do not have a real or serious problem of child labor. They are really above the problems of modern child labor as the only real contact that they have with it is when the major companies therein are accused of contributing to the hiring of unfairly compensated and over-worked child employees.

Child labor is not healthy for children because it destroys their childhood. Many children receive no education because they have to work all the time, meaning, many adults also become unemployed because of this. On the other hand, many people believe that child labor is not negative for children, they believe if the child's parents cannot work, a child can do it for the family to survive. In conclusion, child labor is not a good alternative for kids because it ruins the meaning of a childhood, it leads to unemployment for young adults, and does not supply an education for these children.

In the United States, child labor and sweatshops are illegal, and society frowns upon any business that exploits children in the production of goods. Though most would say that they would not support a company that uses child labor to produce its goods, almost everyone has, in fact, knowingly or unknowingly, supported these businesses in one way or another. Children are involved in the production of many of the everyday goods we import from overseas, including the manufacturing of clothes, shoes, toys, and sporting equipment, the farming of cocoa, cotton, sugarcane, and bananas, and the mining of coal, diamonds, and gold (The U.S. Dept. of Labor).
