When I was 12 my mother had my baby brother who I came to love and who has inspired me to become more loving towards children. He has taught me that children are pure and that we need to preserve this innocence, so they can become successful and emotionally stable adults. With this in mind I have considered to pursue a career as a child psychologist. This career will lead me to help children with family problems or mental problems. My main goal is to help those children strive in their future. I have personally experience obstacles in life that can set one back and if we don’t have a support system we will get stopped by those obstacle, therefore I hope to be that support for them, so they can have a successful future and overcome those obstacles. …show more content…
The University of Texas is one of the best University in Texas and I would be honored to continue my journey under such a high standard university and under the influenced of may amazing professors. UT has some of the most skilled professors in the nation that have gained so much experience through the research and pieces of literature that they have produced. Such as professor Jessica Church-Lang who has published many literature pieces, or professor Michael P Domjam who has been selected for a MERIT Award by the national Institutes of Mental Health. Additionally, all these professors come from different educational backgrounds and have many different fields that one can learn from. Hopefully, attending the university of Texas will give the opportunity to learn from these amazing professors that will led me to many opportunities in the future. Furthermore, the University of Texas has such a diverse body of students that can help me learn more about cultures and their way of life, which can lead me to understand people a little more. Even though Texas State is a great university, it does not have as many experience professors or many opportunities to grow as the University of Texas does. Therefore, I strongly believe that UT will help me achieve my goal of shaping the life’s of the children who really need
The organization under investigation is Child Protective Services, also referred to as CPS, which is an agency within the Department of Family and Protective Services. CPS is a governmental organization that has existed for years. The agency is designed to protect children from abuse and neglect. There are numerous cases that are called in on a daily basis in the state of Texas, and it is the duty of state employees to address all allegations in a timely manner. The positions held as a caseworker within the agency are either Investigator, Special Investigator, Family Based Safety Services Specialist, or Conservatorship Specialist. Due to the required work and deadlines involved with being a caseworker at CPS, the job can become very
A three year-old girl is crying in an office because her father molested her. Her little round face is red and swollen while her mother rocks her back and forth in her lap. The mother asks, “What can you do doctor?” The psychologist’s heart is breaking with every tear shed from the young child’s big eyes. It takes a lot of strength to witness pain such as this. A child psychologist has to go through extensive schooling, mental and emotional preparation, and must have personal dedication.
Children and young people should feel happy, safe, respected and included in the school or early years setting environment and all staff should be proactive in promoting positive behavior in the classroom, playground and the wider community. Policies and practice which make sure the safety and wellbeing of children should already be in place and it is this legislation develop through many years and experiences, and mistakes, that underpin the working practices that are used today.
Starting my career as a social worker and working with children and families is where I feel as though I belong. I have the compassion, the drive and the withstanding endurance to make the area of child and family social work my passion. Working with children requires patience, dedication, resilience and so many other trusting characteristics. Relationships within children’s immediate families have a profound impact on their state of being. Becoming a child and family social worker is undeniably tough and arduous work but the reward of seeing families meet their set goals and becoming a stronger more united family unit come to fruition surpasses anything else. When I become a child and family social worker, my job days will be over and my career starts. Going to worker everyday knowing that I’m making a difference will be the best feeling. A great person once said, “It’s your mistakes that make you human, and it’s your humanity that makes you influential.”
My dad, because he has a good job and he can be lazy whenever he wants to and he gets to buy whatever he wants.
Through my work in counseling, I will aspire to be respectful of and sensitive to my client’s developmental needs and therapeutic goals. It is imperative for counselors to recognize that the counseling process can be intimidating for many clients. I will draw from a variety of

An increase in baby booming makes it tougher for working parents to find daycare. The facts prove that having children come with a true price. Even so it doesn’t change the issues of finding child care or makes them go away. When parents work, quality child care is a necessity. And it does not come cheap. For families with more than one child, child care can eat up one salary, leaving parents wondering both working is worth it. When thinking of child care there are some options to consider like choosing a child care center, the costs of child care centers, and waiting lists.
The Children’s Bureau was created in 1912 by Lillian D. Wald and Florence Kelly (“The story of…”). The main goal for this bureau was to create standards that would impact the way children were treated. There are several issues that the Children’s Bureau covered. These issues include infant and maternal death, child labor, orphanages, child health and recreation, delinquency and juvenile courts, family economic security, abused and neglected children, and foster care (“The story of…”).
The interview I conducted took place in the courtyard of my complex in Smallville, with the interviewee and myself. For the purpose of his paper and to protect the adolescent privacy lets call her Regina. Regina is a fourteen-year-old adolescent female of Africa American descent. She is above average in height and carries a very shy and nonchalance deposition. She is a very attractive young lady and does above average work in her school setting. She appears to be a normal every day child with a lifetime of experiences awaiting her.
I am passionate about keeping black youth out of the justice system, and I believe school psychologists are perfectly situated to disrupt the system. This is why I’m applying to school psychology program. Furthermore, that passion informs my desire to study alternatives to suspension and expulsion with Dr. Pamela Fenning and addressing trauma in schools with Dr. Rosario Pesce. I think that finding alternatives to suspension and expulsion would help prevent students from dropping out of school by ensuring that they do not unnecessarily miss any in-class time. And addressing trauma in schools continues to be important as mass shootings continue to become more commonplace, especially in Chicago.
For 30 years, advocates, program administrators, and politicians have joined to encourage even more reports of suspected child abuse and neglect. Their efforts have been successful, with about three million cases of suspected child abuse having been reported in 1993. Large numbers of endangered children still go unreported, but a serious problem had developed: Upon investigation, as many as 65 percent or the reports now being made are determined to be "unsubstantiated", raising serious civil liberties concerns and placing a huge burden on investigative staffs.
While regulation and standard are the keys to the success of a childcare facility, there are factors that I believe are equally important to be successful in an early childcare program. So, I looked for a highly qualified teacher with good communication skills. Saint Mary Academy Inc. displayed these factors upon entry to the facility. I saw degrees of teacher and directors ranging from masters to bachelor degrees specialized for the profession display behind the desk of the director for the day.
I am interested in being a school psychologist for a variety of reasons. First, I believe that my background in working with children and families, and my B.A. in psychology are essential combinations that will be helpful in my pursuit of the degree. Second, I would like to work with children in a variety of educational situations, such as those in need of special education classes and those in talented and gifted programs. Third, I believe it is essential to work directly with the entire family system, not just the child. The child's progress depends on the home environment and the academic environment equally. This academic environment includes all professions (i.e., teachers,
The Term topic I chose to research about is Child Welfare Services. This topic has a variety of different regulations and forms that makes this program run. Child Welfare Services have been around for quite some time and has been helping out as much as they are allowed to. This program has a time line of many important events that all build up the Child Welfare program.
