Child welfare and Family Services include day care homes, child care centers and head start centers. Their main duty is to address all their problems or help them with problems from infancy to teenage or older years. They help detect problems in their early years, so they won’t have to deal with them later on in life. They work with teenage parents by giving them parenting education classes so they can grow as parents. Community social workers help the community function, either working with one individual helping them use resources in the community, or they administer programs for the community. They’re basically considered community builders. Hospice and Palliative Care Social Workers work to improve the life of families with a serious illness
A description of how to access additional support and information in relation to health and safety.
In the United States, there are programs designed to protect children. There are foster care, group homes, and other services for children safety. The Child Protective Services in Alabama has the sole purpose of helping children in cases of neglect and abuse (Child Protective Services). These services include foster care programs where children who are at risk of harm from birth family, or who suffers from mental, emotional, or physical issues. These services provide care to all children who meet the state qualifications and removed from their current home (Introduction of Foster Care). The foster care system is where children who can no

The organization Department of Children and Family of Florida or DCF, is very important in getting individuals and families the help that they need. The organization while helpful, can be seen going through some tough times and needs to find ways it can improve itself, so that it can help their core demographic and the rest of the community. The organization has been helping people using old methods, which have worked in the past, but now they need to find new ways in which they can provide not only a better service, but a more efficient one as well. DCF need to join the 21st century in the ways in which they interact and do business with their consumers. While evidence is limited at the current time, what we are convinced that by implementing new techniques like video conferencing, better cloud computing, and a better customer relationship management into our business plan, the organization can better server its consumers and will greatly benefit the organization in the near future and beyond.
I am interested in working with Child Protective Services, because there are too many children in our country who are victims of abuse, neglect, and murder, especially by their caretakers. What I like about DCS is that department can remove children away from a dangerous environment and help place them in a safer one. I feel that I am well-suited to work for DCS because I am concern about the safety of our children and I want to work to protect them.
A child living in the 21st century is no stranger to poverty and the desperate lifestyles it promotes. Too often the case, children, living in families with incomes below the nation’s poverty line, are limited to criminal activities, low-level education, and blue-collar employment. Furthermore, years of economic strife in the United States have invited a cycle of poverty to predetermine the lives of children in poverty-stricken families, where they are raised with insufficient care and inadequate resources in unstable environments. Not that it is in any way the fault of the parents, whose financial situation isn’t always an accurate reflection of their parental capability, the government’s assumes the responsibility of removing children
The New York State of Children and Family Services is an organization that was developed by the state government. It is found in the Department of Family Assistance. It has its headquarters at Capital View Office Park in Rensselaer. The New York State of Children and Family Services as an organization was instituted on January 8, 1998, through a program that involved the integration of different programs such as the state Division for Youth and family programs. At its foundation, the agency was being administered by the Department of Social Services. It was also under the administration of the Commission for the Blind and visually handicapped. Its Executive Office is comprised of 6 other offices. These offices are the Office of the
There are several forms of social welfare services that can be beneficial to individuals and families that need of some resources of assistance. Such as, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, also known as, TANF. There is help within child support, benefits for immigrants, Medicaid. There is a program called, The Child Nutrition Program, this allows children to have reduce price or free lunches while they attend school. There is another program through social services which is The Food Stamp Program for individuals or families that fit under the budget bracket. In my opinion, I feel that every program that is provided through Social Welfare Services is significant for anyone who is in need of assistance of any kind. If I was in a situation
When my brother, Alex, was two years old, he was taken from my family because the hospital wrongly accused my dad of shaking Alex at that time. This started with after my dad put Alex down on our dining room table, still in his car seat unbuckled, and Alex wiggled his way out and fell to the ground. After this incident, my parents rushed him to the hospital because he started to have seizures. The nurses later found that my brother had suffered from shaken baby syndrome. They could only link it to my dad leaving my brother unattended sitting on the dining room table, but earlier in that week when Alex was in daycare at Primrose and he would not stop cry so the “sitter” started to shake him thinking it would calm him down. Once the nurses found out why Alex was having seizures so frequently they brought Child Protective Services in, to take my brother away and put him in a foster home. My parents brought this up with the court and got my grandparents involved so they could gain custody of Alex. They later won custody of him, after six months of fighting with the court.
Clinical Social Work is part of the field of Social Work. A Clinical Social worker helps individuals deal with their mental and emotional issues. “An alternative definition of CSW has been adopted by both the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and the American Board of Examiners in Clinical Social Work (ABECSW), who defined CSW as a practice specialty having diagnostic assessment and therapeutic components”(Karpetis, 2014, p.23). This type of Social worker has various responsibilities, such as administrating social programs and Social Services organizations, like Child Welfare. The purpose of the child welfare system is to protect the welfare of the children. The system becomes involved with a family when neglect or abuse is suspected and reported. When confirmed, children are removed from the home and placed into temporary housing or foster care. As of 2015, 683,000 children were victims of maltreatment. The type of maltreatment varied with neglect representing 75.3%, physical abuse 17.2%, sexual abuse 8.4%, and other 6.9%. The U.S. federal data also revealed that 427,910 children were in foster care nationally as of September, 2015. This represents a 3.3% increase from 2014. The average duration of placement was 20.4 months. Reunifications with parents or caretakers only average about 51%. Other placement alternatives
There are a number of scholars who have written works that have shaped and are in alignment with my own views for research in the field of child welfare. The most eminent, however, are Gary Mallon, Alma Carten, Harriet Goodman, and Manny Gonzalez, for the simple fact that these authors and researchers have fostered a number of crucial methodologies that ensure a salutary ending and beginning of a successful life for a child welfare program participant. I am determined to research how the criminal justice and foster-care systems create synergy and how both systems affect children's ability to function as adults. I have chosen to focus on child welfare because after the immediate needs of both these systems are met the lasting effects mentally impacts families. The effects of a disenfranchised family can be crippling to a young child and examining where these systems fall short in child welfare deems to be my ultimate goal.
Tackling the challenges of the child welfare system requires greater funds from dedicated funding streams. Greater investment in sad children and families in child welfare is needed. Finding different ways to use available funding is the most genuine way for states to increase the amount of federal money they can use to for foster sad children in care. For sad children and their families, the foster care experience is inherently painful. The wounds inflicted by abuse and neglect, foster sad children must also contend with the emotionally wrenching experience of being removed from their homes and placed in foster care.
To assure the best outcomes for sad children, all of the agencies in the system must work together. Each must rely on the others to provide the necessary information and resources. Child welfare agencies, though ultimately charged with the responsibility of caring for maltreated sad children, cannot provide optimal care without the collaboration and support of other agencies. But currently no fundamental structure for governing the system or managing resources exists. Instead, most agencies have established either formal or informal cooperative agreements.
