4.0 IMPLICATION OF CYBER CRIMES CASES 4.1 Children Are Vulnerable and Exposed There is no way to truly verify age on the internet; this is a big concern because there is a wealth of content that should not be accessed by children. Pornographic material is the most prominent, and children can very easily stumble upon these types of websites and be exposed to things that they should not be. Along with finding inappropriate materials online, children are also at a great risk because of how easy it is to communicate with people. Children every day are persuaded by online “friends” to meet them or do things for them that put them at great risk. 3.2 Theft of Corporeal Information Such crimes may threaten a nation’s security and financial health.
Partnership working in the context of safeguarding, is the working together with agencies and professionals. The importance of partnership working with runs through every aspect of safeguarding from government legislation to local working.
Individuals and companies having a website must consider if the site is marketed or if it is appealing to individuals under 13 years. Website developers need to be aware of the children’s online privacy protection act that places parents in control of the type of information that can be collected from young children online. The legislation was designed to protect individuals less than 13 years about the dynamic nature of the internet. The statute applies to commercial websites and online services aiming children under 13 that collects, make use of information and gathers personal information from children. The act also applies to general websites and an online service that receives application and extracts personal information from individuals under 13. The paper provides the measures that sites can use to ensure their website does not violate the
Q1 Child abuse would be one of many possible explanations at this point. In addition to the indicators mentioned above, describe at least four physical signs and four behavioural signs that you might look for if you still thought that child abuse was a possibility. (P1)
Unit 69 – Understand safeguarding of children and young people for those working in the adult sector (Level 5)
Any individual who comes into contact with children in their daily work has a duty to ensure the safety and well-being of children. Safeguarding means protecting and promoting the childs welfare and putting measures in place to prevent abuse. Child protection is protecting a child when there is reason to believe that the child has suffered or is likely to suffer from abuse or neglect. In order to ensure this happens within a school setting, there are many laws that protect the welfare and safeguarding of children:-
Some people think kids should not be aloud to have tv or gaming equipment in their bedroom. I think kids should, some people strongly believe they should not have tv or gaming in their bedroom.
I suggest we should make a law/policy to have more strict age-verification to the Internet devices or the PC accounts. These days there are many people, especially young people, that have trouble about the Internet by mistakenly (or deliberately) accessing to inappropriate websites. This policy/law would help prevent these troubles and I have some reasons why this helps it, and there are some reasons to support my idea.
Follow membership restrictions- It is observed that despite social networking websites state minimum age restrictions most of the children have a membership account for these sites at very early age. For e.g. for Facebook or skype account registration the child needs to be minimum 13-years-old. But children aged 8-11 also have these accounts.
Current legislation, guidelines, policies and procedures within the UK affecting the safeguarding of children and young people
Just as technology has exponentially increased the level of communication and commerce, it has similarly expanded opportunities for criminal activity and victimization. The Internet can be used to commit crimes ranging from the release of a computer virus resulting in worldwide catastrophic damage to industrial espionage, from simple assaults to acts of terrorism, from child pornography to luring and sexual assault on children. Apart from the breadth of potential misconduct, the unique nature of the internet presents challenges not evident in the traditional law enforcement, such as questions of jurisdiction, evidence access and preservation, applicability of current laws, vulnerability of a virtually unlimited victim pool, and practical obstacles to the identification of perpetrators. In this investigation manual you will find the overview of a crime, conduct a seizure of evidence with pictures, what to do when conducting a search
In the U.S. on a regular school day, three of ten children are involved in bullying incident. Either as the ones causing it, witnessing it, or actually being the victim of the bully (Greenya, 1). In our western culture, perfection and being unaccepted for being imperfect is becoming more and more pervasive. From as young as grade school kids are worried about being socially accepted. The trend is becoming: be the bully, or you will be the one bullied. From children to adults bullying seems to be a "desperate [way] for some people to maintain a circle of human contacts (Marano, 3)." Although children are the ones seen as being rude and mean to their peers, this same attitude is found in adults although it may be portrayed on a different
The United Nations states that in order for us to have “happy children” we must be able to provide a child with basic needs and a neutral and loving family. The UN also highlights the idea that children are at risk and the measures that need to be taken in order for them to fulfill the idea of happy children. Understanding children at risk is realizing that children are at risk of danger, we must acknowledge child abuse, poverty, malnutrition and the reality faced by several children. Children at risk, underlines the idea that children are vulnerable and need protection. Dangers include but are not limited to, child abuse, that is, the exploitation in the workforce where children are forced to work overtime at a very low paying wage as well
When we think of risks and risky behaviors would do not usually associate it with children, but adolescence. Those behaviors did have to stem for somewhere. Most parents want their children to keep safe, but learning to take risks is a normal part of child development. The Norwegians emphasized the importance of risking taking can be beneficial for the overall development of children, when in a safe but challenging environment. (Sandseter, 2016). From a psychosocial/cognitive perspective, risky situations can offer potential rewards. Children’s play can often provide joy, excitement, fun, allowing them to actualize their potential by intrinsically motivated activities (Sandseter, 2016). If individuals start early building their intrinsic motivation,
Even with the dangerous developments in social media over the past several years, many parents have chosen to allow their children to use these sites despite age restrictions. There are three reasons to argue for age restrictions on social media sites: lack of supervision by parents, targeting of children by pedophiles, and the prevalence of children falsifying their age. The ability of pedophiles to conceivably target children with social media proves that this is an issue that parents need to examine so that they may better protect their children. The threat from pedophiles causes an enormous problem for millions of children on social media sites. Unfortunately, Western Daily Press states that “Pedophiles can get away with grooming young teenagers on social media sites.” My essay will argue that age restrictions need to be in place, and additional regulations should ensure that law enforcement agencies have the tools required to supervise underage children 's use of social media, including Facebook and Twitter. Quoting from Business Wire, “three out of four parents feel that social network sites are not protecting children.” According to Irish Independent, “four out of ten children falsify their age” when using social media. I will also argue that additional research on this topic can be used to raise the awareness of parents, and can also help to alert the children themselves to the danger. My essay will also examine questions, such as: How can social media sites protect
There are strict age limit guidelines for most social media sites. However, younger children may lie about their age in order to activate an account with or without parents knowledge. These sites are not designed for use by adolescents. Exposure to adult language, pictures or content that is not appropriate for their age. Pretending to be older than they set the bar for bending the truth to get what they want is an acceptable practice. Social media is rampant with overly critical
