I. Introduction Osteomyelitis An infection of the bone or bone marrow .It can be usefully sub classified on the basis of the causative organism (pyogenic bacteria or mycobacteria), the route, duration and anatomic location of the infection. In children, the disease usually results from untreated acute hematogenous osteomyelitis. The bone may be predisposed to infection due to recent trauma. Especially in times of civil unrest or war or as a complication of surgical procedures such as open reduction and internal fixation of fractures which is the most common means of bone infection in children. Another function of bones is the storage of certain minerals. Calcium and phosphorus are among the main minerals being stored. The importance of this storage "device" helps to regulate mineral balance in the bloodstream.
