We have all heard the Disney story, Cinderella, right? Well, who knew that there could be more than just one version? In the two stories “Cinderella” Brothers Grimm and “The Little Glass Slipper,” They have a majority of themes, characters, settings, and other things that were not mentioned in the original Cinderella. Because of the new and interesting versions, comparing and contrasting come in handy. So, how do the two newer versions relate to one another, and how do the new versions relate to the original story? How are they different? In the two stories, “Cinderella- Brothers Grimm” and “the little glass slipper” the settings are very different at some points in the story. In Brothers Grimm, Ashpuddle, who is also known as Cinderella, visits her mother's grave three times a day. This does not happen in the original story and it also doesn’t happen in “The Little Glass Slipper.” However, other than …show more content…
Basically, all the themes mentioned throughout either story could fit in with both! We have all heard the theme,”Treat other the way you want to be treated.” Well, this theme goes along with the stories because everyone believes that Cinderella should be treated better by all of her step family. The sisters and mother should treat Cinderella how they would want to be treated. For example, they should have let Cinderella go to the ball! In “The Little Glass Slipper” it states,”Lend my clothes to such a dirty Cinderwench as you are! I should be such a fool.” This is one of the stepsisters, charlotte, talking to Cinderella. How we she like cinderella talking to her like that? In Brothers Grimm Cinderella, the author wrote,” You have no proper clothes, and you do not know how to dance. You would be laughed at!” This was said by the stepmother to Cinderella, and it is just as rude as what was said in “The Little Glass Slipper.” Therefore, we know that both stories have this theme in
Cinderella is a classic tale popularized by a man named Charles Perrault’s in 1697, is a story about a girl who loses first her mom and then her dad but not before he marries a nasty step mother who brings along her two daughters. In this version of the book the father passes away on the first page, leaving Cinderella with all alone with her new step family. It doesn't take long before she is made the servant daughter doing all of the chores while the step mother and sisters lavish in the chambers. Cinderella ends up having a fairy godmother who grants her the wish to attend the ball, turning ordinary objects into the necessity for a ball including a beautiful gown and glass slippers Cinderella was on her way. The only catch being that when the clock struck midnight all the magic will be gone and everything would go back to normal, on her way out as she ran down the stairs Cinderella lost her glass slipper half way down. The prince was determined to find the beautiful girl who wore the shoe, he searches all the town. Being the Prices last hope Cinderella was a perfect fit, and the step sisters threw themselves at her feet, begging for
The final difference of the two different Cinderella stories
Have you ever heard of other Cinderella stories aside from the traditional ones that usually come across television or shows up in children's books? Well, if not now you know there are more. These Cinderella stories are all different, but similar in some type of way. There are many stories that are unique either because of the cultural diversity, or even the way it ended. We all know how the traditional one goes where there’s a beautiful girl who’s mistreated by her step mom and sisters that were married into the family. Long story short she sneaked to the ball and left before midnight losing a slipper; the prince found it, and then so on… later getting married at the end. Two stories that can be taken into consideration as of

To begin with, the two Cinderella stories have the same evil stepmother and stepsisters. In the German version there is a quote that shows Cinderella had a very bad stepmom, “They were beautiful, with fair faces, but evil and dark hearts.” “Time grew very bad for the stepchild.” These quotes show that the two Cinderella’s had terrible stepmothers and treated her with no respect no matter how nice she was to them. To begin with, her family made her do all the chores while they tortured Cinderella.
Fairy tales are constantly changing as they are told overtime. The fairy tale of Cinderella has evolved drastically throughout the several versions of short stories, books, and films that have been released since the first story in1697. Since then, the stories have progressed, as well as the films, in a way that fit better for children. The Disney film versions of Cinderella have become increasingly popular in a way that many viewers have the idea of what a Cinderella story consists of. The existence of the theme of good and evil in this work, is very important to the overall story line and is important to fairy tales overall.
First, there are several similarities. For example, all three stories were told long ago, but are still very popular today. Another example, is that all three stories have a Cinderella that ends up with the prince or king. Cinderella is also treated very poorly. Elements of magic are included in these stories. Finally, there are at least one or more step-sisters in these Cinderella stories.
Each of the told tales is traceable to an oral tradition thus becoming impossible for the fairy tales to be dated. These stories were transcribed by different individuals during the centuries before the twentieth century. The stories have different plots but they happen to share some features. Cinderella has similar key plot points and but different the only differences are those brought about by ethnic and geographical
Being that the slipper was made of glass it was transparent, meaning that light can easily pass through so that the object can be seen effortlessly. The use of the transparent glass slippers was to show sincerity. Her stepmother and sister’s mistreated Cinderella but her attitude never changed. “The poor girl bore it all patiently (Perrault)” because she had a very sincere heart and it was filled with hope. Making a slipper of glass is something rare and not usually seen.
Most fairy tales are meant to teach children and they are changed slightly to show similarities and differences while giving a moral. In both the literature work and Disney’s “Cinderella” Animated Movie of 2015, they both contain a plentiful amount of similarities and differences. The Brother’s Grimm, writers of Cinderella, portray a picture of little girl living with her stepmother and her stepsisters, while her parents are dead. The 2015 Cinderella Movie shows a young girl grow up and live with her stepmother and stepsisters; however, the father waits many years until remarrying after her mother’s death. Even though the outcast, Cinderella, and the star-crossed lover, the prince, occur in both the story and movie, they show many differences and similarities in plot and character development.
The book Cinderella by Kath Jewitt is going to be compared to Cinderella: or, The Little Glass Slipper by Charles Perrault. It will be compared to this Cinderella story instead of the others because they both have several similarities. Some of these similarities are that they have fairy godmothers, Cinderella’s father gets remarried, Cinderella loses her slipper, and they also have a happy ending. After reading Cinderella by Kath Jewitt it is an alternative text to Perrault’s story because even though it is the same story, for the most part, the ending has a slightly different meaning or moral. This moral will be discussed in more detail below along with anything that makes it an alternative text to the original story listed above.
A Cinderella Story varies much more. This movie is set in present time and in America, whereas the others are thought of as older times and set in Europe. This movie still has the classical story line but with a twist. She lives with her step mom and two step sister, she does all their chores, there is a boy whom she falls in love with, she has help from a woman who has been her friend for all of her life, there is a search for the mystery girl, and she drops something when she is running away because it is midnight. That is where the similarities end. There are many more differences from the classic tale in this modern day movie. The character Sam (Cinderella) and Austin (prince charming) exchange emails and chat online before meeting. Austin has a girlfriend who is mean to Sam. After finding out who Sam really is Austin does not fall in love with her right away. Sam tell Austin to stop pretending to be someone he is not and then Austin shows who he really is and only then can prince charming fall in love with Cinderella. They go off to Princeton together and live happily ever after.
To begin, the opening of each story is very different. The Grimms’ Cinderella, starts off the way that we know the Cinderella story now. A rich man’s wife dies, leaving behind her daughter, Cinderella, and her husband. However, the beginning of “Yeh-Shen,” the Chinese version of Cinderella, is very different:
Cinderella had it rough. Her parents were both dead, her step mother was the pure definition of a bad word that starts with the letter b, and she was forced to work as a maid in her own father's house. Until this scene Cinderella always seemed so positive despite her circumstances, but she broke down after her wicked step-sisters destroyed her dress and ruined her chances of going to the ball. CInderella did the exact same
