The reason why I picked Clara Barton is because she is known for helping people and that’s what I enjoy doing because it’s just a good thing to do and warms my heart and because she was a nurse and that's what I want to be when I’m older.The reason why I picked the postcard is because it’s a very creative way to show how you thought the people talked or how they saw the things then,I made it look older so it would show like the back in the day look I made sure of that from the picture to the stamp.I also picked the award ceremony because she did do very good things when she was present so I just thought it would be an easy decision and a good one too.How I made the award ceremony look old is I used the timings current president and used his
Imagery: “Broadly defined, imagery is any sensory detail or evocation in a work; more narrowly, the use of figurative language to evoke a feeling, to call to mind an idea, or to describe an object. Imagery may be described as auditory, tactile, visual, or olfactory depending on which sense it primarily appeals to—hearing, touch, vision, or smell. An image is a particular instance of imagery.”
Pride had also entered into her character as she explained her smiling soreness, as she "had taken to smiling more often and [her] jaws hurt from the unaccustomed activity;" (835). "As a member of the winning team (the graduating class of 1940)" (835) she was moving headfirst toward the future. It was obvious that she was delighted that she had accumulated a plethora of achievements displayed with colored stars on the bulletin board. Even though Henry Reed had been awarded valedictorian, "instead of being disappointed [she] was pleased that [they] shared top honors" (836). A sense of approval flowed though her and she was genuinely and deservedly happy; "she was headed for the freedom of open fields" (835).
A Scottish Proverb once said, “Do not judge by appearances; a rich heart may be under a poor coat.” This quote applies to the theme of the novel,“The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle” by Avi. The theme is don’t judge a book by its cover and in the quote, it says to not judge someone by appearances because they might be different than what you think. The first example is shown on page 24, “One always needs a final friend.”
Clara Barton, in her letter to her cousin Vira in the year 1862, shares her dread of the battle to come and the lives it will take. Barton expounds on this idea in her letter through the use of imagery and weaves the reoccurring idea of doom throughout it, writing in an informal and troubled tone. The author’s purpose is to inform her cousin of the thoughts that go through her head the night before a battle and the struggle she endures knowing that many of these people will die.
Clara Barton, born Clarissa Harlowe Barton, is one of the most significant figures in US history. Barton is well known for being a female pioneer in the field of teaching, as well as for her work in the US patent office during the Civil war. These feats alone make her a historical figure; however, she is also known for something which far surpasses these accomplishments. Clara Barton is recognized and remembered today for her extraordinary work as a nurse during the American Civil War, and for going on to establish the American Red Cross. (Clara Barton; Clara Barton)
Marie is truly one of kind poet who displays a unique sense of awareness and ability in helping us understand what things were like in the twelfth century. Even though the heart of her poems is about courtly love, the way she depicts the characters is special in a sense that she can achieve a lot more than one would imagine. Examples of this can be seen in her poems, The Lay of the Honeysuckle and The Lay of the Nightingale, especially when we keen on the characters of these poems.
This chapter is about the young Emperor gets her sickness. Takiko plays on the Kyoto and its soothes the young Emperor which it helps her survive through it.
I chose Clara Barton because of the work that she did. I knew that women were involved in the Civil War but did not know to what extent. When the war broke out she volunteered at the Washington Infirmary. The text book stated that she was one of the first to volunteer. She won permission to nurse the wounded on the battle fields (“Clara Barton”, 2). She brought supplies on three wagons to the Battle of Antietam (2). She travelled with her wagons throughout the war helping the wounded Union soldiers and the Confederate prisoners. Most of the supplies were purchased through private donations and Barton’s own money (2). In 1880 she founded the American Red Cross after a trip in 1869 to Geneva, Switzerland as a

Clarissa, Clara, Harlowe Barton, was born in Massachusetts in 1821, on Christmas day, and was the youngest of six children, two of which did not make it to the age of twelve. Her father, Stephen Barton raised her as a boy, her brothers having no particular interests in their “soldier father”. He taught her to shoot and man a gun, to ride a horse, to track, and how to be an all about ethical and religious person, making sure to have her study the Christian Bible from time to time..
Clara Barton is not only an example of women/ Americans at their finest, but she also can and should be revered as a national hero. Clara Barton answered the call to duty in a time when women weren 't necessarily valued not only socially but as assets of contribution. Clara Barton took up the call by helping save thousands of lives through nursing and providing supplies during the Civil War while also introducing one of America’s first responding organizations, the American Red Cross. Clara Barton was a servant to this country and to mankind, something our world is shorthanded of currently and what others can aspire to be.

Florence Nightingale was born in Florence, Italy. Her parents named her after the city she was born in. She was born on May 12,1980, she was raised mostly in Derbyshire England. Many people when they hear Florence Nightingale think about her as a nurse and for her fight for better hospital care. Florence did a lot more in her life than achieve better hospital conditions, and become a nurse. She was a brilliant mathematician, and used statistics to apply them to achieve her reforms. Florence was a well-educated woman in a number of fields other than math;
In literature, it is generally agreed that 'The Nightingale invites the beholder to explore something beyond the merely human '. Both Keats and Finch imitate this concept in 'Ode to a Nightingale ' and 'To the Nightingale ' by using poetic form and language to show the qualities of a bird that inspires them to look beyond the physical and in Finch 's case, challenge the confines of human restriction whilst asserting poetry as a human necessity.
Florence Nightingale, a well-educated nurse, was recruited along with 38 other nurses for service in a hospital called Scutari during the Crimean War in 1854 . It was Nightingale's approaches to nursing that produced amazing results. Florence Nightingale was responsible for crucial changes in hospital protocol, a new view on the capabilities and potential of women, and the creation of a model of standards that all future nurses could aspire towards.
