Climate Change : A Changing For A Brighter Future

Climate change is not a new concept. It has been mostly referred to as global warming in the past. As much as people would like to file this issue away as something to deal with at a later date, it simply cannot wait. This problem we face is costing us billions of dollars, forests and wildlife are being eliminated, and people are dying. Starting to sound like a big deal, right? Future generations will be affected the most. People who do not even exist will have to pay for what we, all people, have done to this earth. To begin to make changes, one must realize the severity of the issue. Bill Mckibben, author of “Recalculating the Climate Math,” conveys that “We’ve already raised the world’s temperature by one degree—enough to melt almost half the ice in the Arctic, kill off huge swaths of the world’s coral, and unleash lethal floods and drought. July and August tied for the hottest months ever recorded on our planet, and scientists think they were almost certainly the hottest in the history of human civilization” (Page 3 of 5). Global climate change is a serious problem because it increases natural disasters and is the cause of extreme weather.

We might disagree on the causes of global warming; however, we cannot ignore that it is happening. Although we still experience cold winters, average global temperatures has risen drastically for the past three decades. Polar ice caps are melting; as a result, sea levels are rising. Scientist predict more extreme weather in the coming decades, in fact, droughts will probably be more common. Also, flooding and tropical temperatures might cause large amounts of methane gases to be released, which could be disastrous for our atmosphere. Climate change may have human causes and also it might be a natural occurrence. Nevertheless, we must find ways to save our planet.

Climate change is known as one of the greatest threats to the planet. It is not only a threat to the planet environmentally, but it is a threat socially and economically. As we all could feel, see, and know, the weather patterns globally and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere have been increasing over an extended period of time. Although it may seem like it’s not a dramatic change since it is data from over a large amount of time, it is considering the fact that the large amount of time is not that large as it should be. Climate change is nothing new to us. It’s happened many years ago in the past because a variety of reasons but as the years go on, the rate on charts are just getting higher. As much as I would like to blame this predicament on nature, humans has a fault as well. We release thousands of greenhouse gases into the air through many procedures, but there are things that we cannot entirely control. However, whoever’s fault it is to blame I believe that if we work together and think we will more likely be able to find effective solutions for this problem.

Climate change is the most serious issue humankind is facing in the 21th century. Future generations depend on our ability to make the necessary social changes, before reaching the tipping point of irreversibility, which will lead the planet into a catastrophe incompatible with life.

Climate change is a serious threat that has dramatic effects on the world ranging from melting glaciers to disappearing islands. Climate change has seen a drastic change since the period of rapid industrial growth for humanity due to the higher reliance on fossil fuels in order power the technologies that were developed such as cars and factories which created harmful gasses which had minimal effects in the beginning but later began to have major effects on environments around the world. Although climate change is denied and questioned that it even exists by many people today, including president elect Donald Trump and a significant portion of the scientific community, scientific evidence shows that it does in fact exist and is a serious threat

Climate change is the most significant, most revisited, most controversial, most discussed climate issue in modern history. Global warming serves as a glaring demerit on the lengthy list of accomplishments of mankind: a reminder that progress coupled with reckless abandon never has a good outcome. Though its presence in the national spotlight is a recent phenomenon, the early stages of global warming were detected centuries ago.

Climate change is a real problem facing our world with all of the progression of today’s society. The amount of Greenhouse Gas emissions has gone up drastically in the past one hundred years alone. The use of transportation, industry, electricity and the deprivation of the world's natural resources has increased the amount of Carbon Dioxide in the Earth’s atmosphere. The Environmental Protection Agency has shown an increase in the Earth's temperature by 0.8 degrees C in the past century alone. It is proven that humans are the cause of global warming but it is not too late to change how we are.

The Earth is where all known life resides. Climate change threatens this blue world. The opinion of one in four Americans who are skeptical does not matter on a fact with mountains of research on it. Global and sea surface temperatures are rising; heat waves are becoming more common; and glaciers are melting. Scientists say “humans are causing global warming” which affects the sensitivity of the climate. The rise in greenhouse levels from carbon dioxide and other pollutants from use of fossil fuels is a uniquely from humans.

Over the past few years, a very controversial topic that many scientists believe is a problem has been growing in discussion. The problem is climate change and global warming. Many people believe that climate change is only affecting the ice caps and polar bears; those people could not be more wrong. Climate change is affecting everyone. Climate change and global warming are not the same thing, but are closely related. This is a problem that most everyone in the world is in some way contributing to climate change; a solution must be found sooner rather than later. Climate change will ruin the earth one day if not stopped.

All over the world mankind commonly references mother Earth as important and fragile and even locally there are second graders at Cornerstone elementary singing Native American songs describing how “the Earth is our mother, we must take care of her.” The rising issue of global warming, scientifically known as climate change, is slowly becoming a worldwide epidemic that only 53% of Americans are even worried about, according to a 2014 survey by the IPCC. The definition of climate change is a change in global or regional climate patterns, in particular a change apparent from the mid to late 20th century onwards and attributed largely to the increased levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide produced by the use of fossil fuels. The first studies of climate change and human carbon dioxide emissions started in 1896 by a man named Arrhenius. The interest was renewed during the cold war era when several satellites were launched and more data taking resources were available. 1970 was host to the first Earth day and since then global warming has gained more and more awareness and understanding. The cause of the average global temperature is due to the greenhouse effect, in which the suns heat and energy heats the Earth’s surface then gets absorbed by greenhouse gasses and re-emitted in all directions warming the surface and the atmosphere. Climate change already started long time ago, and it has been one of the greatest life threatening problem of all human beings and creations on earth. This change caused by us has brought a catastrophe to the world that was created by our God. “‘Growing population, intensified agricultural practices, increase in land use and deforestation, industrialization and associated energy use from fossil sources,’” has caused high greenhouse gas concentration. Despite the controversy that surrounds the existence of climate change, there is a high agreement among scientists that human-caused climate change in very real. Over the past two decades, surveys and studies have been done on climate change and the results have shown that the average global temperature has increased by about 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit. The sea level is also rising and heat waves are happening more frequently than before. These events could lead to an abrupt and potentially irreversible climate change but scientists do not know the tipping point for such an event. Therefore, the sooner the inhabitants of earth begin to take action against climate change, the less likely something irreversible could happen.

Climate change is a hot topic (pun intended), with supporters on both sides. Some claim that climate change is a hoax, while others agree that it is happening. I believe it is important to understand that the earth’s climate does naturally go through cycles – look at our geological history of ice ages and hothouses – but also recognize that human activity has greatly advanced the rate at which our planet is warming.

Over the last century, predominantly in the last twenty years, the earth has endured unparalleled heating. A person’s first response might be why? Hasn’t global warming always existed? Yes. It has always been a menacing epidemic but there have been obvious changes to the environment. With the drastic weather changes, it is suspected that all of the polar ice sheets should be melted by 2100. Many scientists have studied what could be the cause of this epidemic. The fact of the matter is that the scientists have established what exactly is causing it, which are high levels of carbon dioxide. Global warming is life threatening and for the majority, caused by the human race and our technological advances.

Global climate change has been a concern for everyone since scientists first discovered that our actions from polluting can have drastic effects on our environment. Many scientists began to note the changes in the atmosphere and temperature, global warming, in the mid 1800’s. Many people believe that the Earth’s climate cycles and changes periodically over time. Many believe that the changes occur as a result of human activity. The big questions is what effect is our activity having on the environment.
