Climate Change Is Our Fault

Do humans play a part in climate change or is it just mother nature? I believe that humans are play the main role in climate change. Since the Industrial age humans have played the main role in climate change because of greenhouse gases which cause the greenhouse effect. The main greenhouse gas that we emit is carbon dioxide from the burning of fossil fuels, the other greenhouse gases that we emit are methane, Nitrous Oxide, and Fluorinated gases. These greenhouse gases will absorb and re-emit some of the infrared radiation that would normally be radiated out into space. Another cause of climate change is deforestation, ever since humans started cutting the forest down the climate has changed globally.

We might disagree on the causes of global warming; however, we cannot ignore that it is happening. Although we still experience cold winters, average global temperatures has risen drastically for the past three decades. Polar ice caps are melting; as a result, sea levels are rising. Scientist predict more extreme weather in the coming decades, in fact, droughts will probably be more common. Also, flooding and tropical temperatures might cause large amounts of methane gases to be released, which could be disastrous for our atmosphere. Climate change may have human causes and also it might be a natural occurrence. Nevertheless, we must find ways to save our planet.

The climate of earth has been increasing for past decade. The increasing temperature is not only harmful for environment but also dangerous for earth and peoples' survival. However, many international societies and groups have been putting their efforts to keep the atmosphare balanced, they are not enough. I believe people are the main cause of pollutions, destroy forests, and natural habitat. Therefore, atmosphare has been changing drastically.

We ask ourselves how might human activities have affected global climate change? Well human activities contribute to climate by causing changes in earth's atmosphere in the amounts of greenhouse gases and cloudiness. Mostly it is burning fossil fuels. This releases carbon dioxide gas to the atmosphere. There are many ways that the humans can affect our environment. Deforestation, burning fossil fuels, and hydrocarbons are ways this can affect. In this paper i will explain how each one contributes to global warming. I will support my discussion with evidence and consequences of the effects of each activity. It will also have alternate energy and solutions included that are most sustainable in our area.

The human race all around the world wonders if the climate is changing due to human activity or if it is just a natural occurrence. At certain parts of the Earth's surface, the climate can be observed much differently than other locations. As the years go by the average temperature of the Earth increases by little intervals. There are several different reasons why people believe the climate is changing every year. However, the increase of worldwide population and production of heat to the atmosphere is due to the increase of human activities that take place on a daily basis. Human activity is the main cause of the global climate change. The human impact on climate exceeds any known changes due to natural processes. The impact of this human activity is often misunderstood when looking at climate change.

In order to understand the issue of global warming (also referred to as climate change), you must first understand what it means and how it happens. Global warming is a result of a process known as the greenhouse effect, in which the light and heat from the sun are trapped in the Earth’s atmosphere by greenhouse gases; which subsequently raises the average temperature on Earth. The greenhouse gases responsible for this process are carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, chlorofluorocarbons, and tropospheric ozone, all of which are released into the atmosphere through naturally occurring processes (Warrick, R. & Farmer, G., 1990).

On November 8th, American citizens will go to the polls and vote for the next president of the United States. During the presidential campaign, both candidates, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, have their own different points of view on environmental issues. Hillary Clinton affirms her commitment to the fight against climate change. She supports the Paris Agreement, which is an agreement among many nations to respond to the threat of global warming and to reverse the worst effects of climate change. Donald Trump, by contrast, does not believe that the shift in the climate is a manmade disaster. He claims that global warming just is a hoax and current global warming is just a part of a natural cycle that is naturally occurring. Donald Trump, then, promises to dismantle the agreement if he becomes the U.S. President. It is important to note that many people and scientists share this same belief with Trump, protesting that global warming is a natural phenomenon. The debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump raises an important issue. Are people primary responsible for global warming? Global warming is due to many reasons; specifically, human activities are the major factors causing the planet to get gradually warmer over time.

But many climate scientists will tell you that this change in climate is due to humans and their activities. It is said that humans release greenhouse gases and “if emissions continue unchecked, they say the global warming could ultimately exceed 8 degrees Fahrenheit, which would transform the planet and undermine its capacity to support a large human population” (Gillis, 2015). To make it easier to understand, as sunlight reaches the Earth’s surface there are two things that can be done, one; it can either be reflected back into space or two, it can be absorbed by the Earth. Once the Earth absorbs the sunlight, it then releases some energy back into the atmosphere as infrared radiation, also known as heat. Then these greenhouse gases tend to act like a “blanket,” therefore making the Earth warmer than it would be otherwise. This process is what we call the “greenhouse effect.” The reason scientists say that climate change is caused by humans is that it’s simple, humans drive, cook food, and even heat or cool their homes, which release gases such as, carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4 ), and water vapor (H2O).

It is believed that human activities are the cause of climate change. The world doesn’t have all the answers to why climate change is occurring, but there are general ideas. Evidence that the atmosphere and oceans are warming, rising sea levels and enormous declines in the amount of sea ice, glaciers and permafrost in the Arctic prove that climate change is indeed real.

There is no doubt that the climate is changing and humans are the cause of it. Since 2005, the 10 hottest years have occurred in the past 14 years (Gore, 2006). What this shows is that the average global temperature is gradually increasing, especially now. CO2 levels have been rising rapidly as well. According to the IPCC report, there has been a 40% increase of CO2 since pre industrial times and 30% has been absorbed into the oceans (IPCC, 2013). More evidence that shows that the climate is changing is that Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets have decreased in mass. Greenland lost around 150-250 cubic kilometers of ice per year in a 4-year period and Antarctica

Do you think climate change is happening because of human activity? The definition of climate change is a change in global or regional climate patterns. Climate change is happening because of human activity. I think that climate change activity is happening because, the greenhouse gases that humans are producing are making sea levels go up, natural changes in the sun's activity cannot explain global warming, and ocean temperatures are going up at an unbelievable rate due to global warming. My thesis is that climate change is happening because of the greenhouse gases that humans are producing.

Today we are debating the important topic of global warming. As the affirmative team, we strongly believe that global warming is caused by the actions of humans. But this is not just a belief, this is a fact. Global warming, by definition, is a gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth 's atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide, CFCs, and other pollutants. The greenhouse effect is the trapping of the sun 's warmth in a planet 's lower atmosphere due to the greater transparency of the atmosphere to visible radiation from the sun than to infrared radiation emitted from the planet 's surface. The Earth’s climate is constantly changing. We all know that throughout the year, the climate is different. In the beginning of the year it is very cold, whereas the middle of the year it’s very hot. Although, there has been many changes in the weather and in the environment around us. Global Warming has an observable effect. For example, there are more intense heat waves, wildfires, glaciers have shrunk, ice rivers and lakes are breaking up sooner, plant and animal ranges have shifted, trees are flowering sooner, etc. All these things are caused by climate change. There are 2 causes of this. First off, Earth is like a greenhouse. Let me break it down. A greenhouse is a house made out of just glass made for growing crops. It is built like that so that when sunlight passes through the glass onto the crops, the warmth gets trapped in the greenhouse and is not able to escape. The Earth’s atmosphere plays a similar role. The sun shines through the atmosphere which warms up there Earth’s surface. At night, the Earth’s surface cools down and releases the heat back into the air. But some heat gets trapped by the greenhouse gasses of the atmosphere. Too much carbon dioxide and other gases are making this greenhouse effect stronger and stronger and this causes the Earth to get warmer and warmer. This leads us to the 2nd cause of climate change. Previously, climate change was believed to happen naturally. However, over the years, scientists have started to argue that anthropogenic factors are the main contributor. Scientists have also been more confident and forthright in informing the public that climate change is caused by human activities. The IPCC Fifth Assessment Report mentions that “human influence on the climate system is clear, and recent anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases are the highest in history” (2013). In addition, most of the observed increase in global average temperatures since the mid-20th century is very likely due to the observed increase in anthropogenic Green House Gas (GHG) concentrations (IPCC AR4 2007). In fact, there are many other anthropogenic impacts that cause climate change.
