We all live and breathe on the same planet, yet why do some of us deny the hard evidence given by scientists and scholars? In Justin Gillis article in The New York Time, Climate Change is Complex, it explains how the effects of people and our lack of initiative to restore what we’ve damaged only furthers the deterioration of the Earth. As a society, we contribute to climate change, proven by the data of scientists on temperature increase, ocean rise, and intense weather changes of our world, due to our carelessness and refusal to pick up and take responsibility of our own pollution.
Although, climate change and global warming are essentially the same thing, the difference between them is that global warming is one type of climate change. Global

Gasses are trapped in by an air trap, which normally would be escape into space. The carbon dioxide increase can also be blamed on us, “Geologists say that humans are now pumping gas into the air much faster than nature has ever done”. Which leads us to ask, why do people continue to deny climate change even when there is evidence piled on top of evidence? One could say ideology plays a role in peoples’ refusal to accept climate change as a real problem, but one could also say ignorance also factors in. Many businesses that help contribute to climate change deny it due to negative effects that could hurt their business. They care more about making money than they do about wanting the planet to live. Which would be fine if that decision didn’t also impact every plant, animal, and person living on the planet.
The world is in big trouble, so much trouble that instead of asking how much the sea will rise it is better to ask how fast. The oceans’ rise has been recorded at about a foot per century. Billions of dollars are spent by property owners and the government to fight against costal erosion. Even now the level of the sea rising is increasing at an alarming rate. One day, at this rate, cities will be submerging into the water. People will have to relocate, and finally have some perspective of the animals that are losing their homes due to the glaciers
Climate change is one of today’s most hotly debated topic. Scientists for many decades have made supposed claims that current energy creation and reliance on fossil fuels will lead to inevitable changes to the planet. Today, climate change denial is still a popular to most of the world despite the mounds of evidence to support that it exists. The climate change issue suffers from being mismanaged by various parties through focusing on the wrong issues and the lack of true commitment from the general public, according to Sandra Steingraber.
Whenever someone thinks of CO2, they think of global warming. They are reminded of Al Gore and his stance on global warming and they automatically think it is true. He has a lot of evidence to back up his theory about how global warming exists and that it is the reason animals are going extinct and also why the climate is changing. Well these facts are wrong and there is evidence to prove it. Global warming is not real and the Earth might even be in a cooling period. There so many reasons to blame people for the epidemic of this false global warming. CO2, a naturally produced gas absorbed by oceans and trees could not be the reason, so what could? Well, nothing can, none of man’s efforts to control the climate will
Climate change is the long term shift in global climate patterns attributed mainly to the use of fossil fuels. Many people are aware of this issue, however, there has been an increase in the amount of people who deny climate change. 23 percent of Americans (compared to last year’s 16 percent) believe that climate change is not a problem (Atkin). To conclude that people do not accept climate change because they do not understand it or need to be educated about it, is reasonable. However, I believe that it isn’t skepticism driving this denial. Rather, it is the phenomenon of reaffirming one’s identity. Instead of analyzing the evidence, it is intentionally interpreted in such a way as to maintain a pre-existing belief.
Since 1975, the surface of the earth 's average temperature has risen by 0.9 degrees Fahrenheit; global warming caused by greenhouse effect has become the focus topic of the world. It has long been recognized academically that due to the burning of coal, oil, natural gas and so on the carbon dioxide is the main culprit of global warming. I watched a documentary, which called “The Great Global Warming Swindle.” In the documentary, the scientists pointed out that there is no direct evidence that carbon dioxide is the cause of global warming, global warming is more of propaganda, a kind of political activity. Normally, as an amateur people, should write this article emphasizes their neutrality, but actually, I agree with BBC.
Climate change is one of the most controversial and ongoing topics in society today. Scientist and politicians alike all have opinions, but very often they are not in line with each other. 97% of climatologists agree that climate change is happening, as well as many of the large corporations in this field such as NASA, the Geological Society of America, and the American Association for the Advancement of science. Still, these debates take place on sites such as climatedebatedaily.com or the worldwide conference that was held on June 6, 2015 that took place 79 countries. Both sides claim to have solid evidence that supports their theories, but it is evident to most scientists and corporations alike that the human race is creating our own destruction
Regardless of how visible the changes are presently there are changes occurring constantly. The climate has been changing for decades and that is only what we have scientific data on so the changing could potentially be going on for much longer. The people that favor this denial strategy are simply uncritical thinkers who either don’t want to accept the state of the world and the destination that we are heading or that they have too much financially at stake. Those who are in the latter situation have an ethical dilemma because they should agree with the facts, therefore agreeing with global warming but this would then call for action which for businesses especially will be costly. In our day in age, with our technology, it is difficult to claim you don’t believe in climate change. The acceptance of global warming is scary because it’s the acceptance of the destruction and distortion humans have cause to Earth but even more difficult is the response to the enlightenment. However, that is only half of the
Because of the most recent election season, there has been a renewed interest in the topic of climate change. In the 2016 Presidential election, the green party received over 1.2 million popular votes nationwide, when they usually receive only 100 thousand or so. With an increased interest in the topic of climate change, I feel it is necessary to provide factual data and projections on the path climate change will take to decrease misinformation. I proclaim the correct course of action to solve the problem of climate change is to do nothing.
The author mentioned that people generally have difficulty accepting facts that they have not previously believed in, no matter how strong the evidence happens to be. This applies to many issues, including climate change. People who believe that climate change is not an issue (or who believe that it is not real) generally have difficulty acknowledging the fact that it could be an issue. This phenomenon is called “solution aversion” and it makes things much more difficult when decisions are trying to be made on a subject.
Supporters of the Global Warming Hoax claim that climate change is not due to human activities, instead it is produced with biased data for the purpose of financial or political gain. In this paper, nine sources, including reports from organizations, a speech from a senator, news articles and blog posts, are presented to discuss . These sources come from three perspectives: 1. Those who support the idea of global warming as a hoax; 2. Those who support the idea of global warming as a reality; 3. Academics who provide data and research relating to the issue.
The evidence supporting the fact that climate change is occurring because of man is strong. It’s just to spread out over so many fields of study that linking them all together and proving it remains elusive. Man-made climate change is very real, despite denial by some and our government’s failure to act, the consequence appear too grave to ignore. Reducing carbon emissions would mean disrupting the livelihood of lots of people, that is usually the reason that people continue to not believe. More people have to be made aware of what is going on, because our governments cannot solve this problem on their own. Convinced or not, any mature person should realize that wasting energy is wrong and there are laws against it. All one can really do in
People have become unconvinced about climate change due to the fact that people believe it is over exaggerated when talked about, when really it is reality. Being a unconvinced society prevents people from wanting to become more educated and aware of the issue. Some people believe that climate change is not real due to the stupidity of uneducated and opinionated members of our society.
Even stated by Dr. Rice, “The evidence is there: nearly 100% of scientists agree” (Rice). It is alarming that millions are ignoring this problem – they are just making it worse. Climate change is, “a rapid increase in temperature caused by increased carbon dioxide levels” (Rice). When people choose to ignore this, they continue to release careless levels of carbon dioxide without any care in the world and continue to ruin our planet. We, as inhabitants of earth, have an obligation to take action and start taking care of our home.
But environmentalists, the changing of the climate is by the Green House Effect with Green House Gasses. So, where are these greenhouse gasses coming from? The first and most well-known one is, you guessed it carbon dioxide. It is the most well know because it accounts for over half of the greenhouse gasses and can come from anywhere, and I do mean everywhere. Carbon is usually recycled by the process of photosynthesis. But under our current conditions there is too much carbon to allow this cycle to change it to oxygen. So where does that carbon go? Well it goes to our atmosphere of course, it begins to break down the Ozone layer. Methane comes in second making the second largest amount of the greenhouse gasses, just coming in a little under a half. Methane comes from many places such as; cows from their bowls and swamps. So its natural skeptics may say, but only one of them is natural and that’s the
A current ongoing debate is whether the topic of how some areas are hotter than they used to be and some colder than they use to be should be referred to as “global warming” or “global climate change”. I agree with the term “global climate change” since it seems that the earth is not only getting warmer, but also colder in some places (Schimel, David Steven et al). Global climate change is threatening life on earth, and needs to be stopped in its tracks before it escalates.
Humans don't like being wrong. It's embarrassing, uncomfortable to believe something and then be confronted about it. So that's why there's still high percentage of people who don't believe in the change in climate. People who work with oil companies don't want to acknowledge it because it can ruin their business. Politicians ignore the problem because it costs money to fix our past mistakes. That fear, people being scared, it makes us shut down. But we can try ignoring the problem, but the thing about problems is, they can be ignored but they never truly disappear. Weather may feel the same as every other year, but The whole world is heating up, including our vast oceans.
