Problem
In this lab I am trying to determine the amount of CO2 produced when sodium bicarbonate and acidic acid are combined in water. To do this I will combine them in a closed container with a ballon on top. The CO2 released will then fill the ballon allowing me to measure the amount produced. The variables I will test are: amount of reactants, temperature of the acidic acid, different acids, and the concentration of acidic acid. I am under the impression that changing some of these variables will affect the production of CO2 enough that we can measure it.
Hypothesis
If the amount of reactants (acidic acid and sodium bicarbonate) are increased then the amount of CO2 produced will be increased because of the law of conservation of mass.
The purpose of this lab was to utilize roasting, smelting, spectroscopy, and the carbonate test in order to determine the identity of an unknown copper mineral. I determined that the most useful of these tests in determining the mineral was roasting because it provides a fairly accurate percent composition of copper in the unknown mineral.
The rapidly increasing amount of carbon dioxide may be one of the factors that cause climate change. As Hillman states, “Concentrations of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere are increasing, and have done so since the Industrial Revolution.” An atmospheric CO2 concentration, research shows that there is a dramatic increase from 280 parts per million (ppm) in 1750 to 373 ppm in 2002, a rise of the third. Furthermore, the linear chart demonstrated the trend of annual global CO2
The goal of this lab was to determine the amount of grams of sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) required to produce enough CO2 gas to completely fill the lab and also how many Alka-Seltzer tablets that would equate to. This was done by collecting CO2 gas by inverting a buret and submerging it under water in order to calculate the volume of CO2 released from a fragment of Alka-Seltzer tablet. The main component of Alka-Seltzer is sodium bicarbonate, used to neutralize excess stomach acid during illness through the following reaction that generates CO2:
So an increase in pressure would cause an increase in the equilibrium yield of COCl2
What is the percentage yield of the reaction of iron and copper chloride when steel wool and copper chloride dehydrate are used as reactions?
Over the years Carbon Dioxide has been significantly increasing from human activity. CO2 has a concentration of about 400 ppmv (parts per million volume). Its concentration in the atmosphere was about 280 ppmv before the Industrial Revolution, now it has increased immensely to about 380 ppmv in 2006. Many have said Carbon Dioxide has been the main reason or cause of global warming; saying that if we produce too much of this greenhouse gas it can create a global climate change. Even though carbon dioxide affects the temperature of the atmosphere it also affects the acidity of water specifically in the ocean.
Here, the bicarbonate reacts with a proton(from excess acid in the stomach)to release carbon dioxide(H20 + co2).
First of all, we often hear that carbon dioxide (CO2) has a negative impact on the temperature of our planet, also known as global warming.

Is A+C a chemical reaction? Yes, because of serval chemical changes happening to the solution before and after. I came to this conclusion by using three pieces of evidence. The three pieces of evidence were a ph imbalance, a dramatic density rise, and a change in electroconductivity.
When the amount of baking soda added is changed, the amount of gas produced will change because baking soda creates gas. Meaning when the three substances are mixed, there will be more gas.
In our everyday life, we witness many chemical reactions. Some fun reactions you may know about are mentos and pop or vinegar and baking soda. Those two reactions are visible to the naked eye. You aren't able to see photosynthesis completely but you know that it take place because a plant grows. Now what about the chemical reactions that you aren't able to see? How do you know when they are complete? Well let me explain this bright and interesting new discovery.
curious when learning in AOSC200 just how much carbon dioxide levels have increased in the
Another constant variable is the time the reaction is left to occur. This would affect the results as if one test is given a substantially longer time for a reaction to take place, the production of carbon dioxide will be higher. This can be controlled by assembling the test tubes at similar times and using a timer if necessary.
