Currently I work in the cold calling field of payment processing. CPP is the company I work for and we have positive and negative incentives. For example, in order to maintain employment one must recruit a minimum ten new clients per week. “Negative incentives either reduce benefits or increase cost, resulting in a decreased level of the related activity or behavior” (Sexton, 2013, pg.46). Cold calling means just how it sounds so you might talk to 300 people before you confirm one client. When I started my assignment the pressure of solely retaining a job based on your own ability almost broke me. This job brought out the best in me as I became more fluent at my craft. The benefit of new territory allowed me to see if I could sustain a career
* What did you learn about what you like and dislike from your past work experience?
I have held several positions throughout my life. The knowledge and experience that I have acquired has played an intricate part in molding me into the person I am today. For most of my life I have always been driven to achieve. I am always setting goals for myself, long and short term and stay committed to achieving these goals. I feel that you must hold yourself accountable to your commitments and pursue what drives you. To say that you are going to accomplish something is one thing, but staying committed and actually achieving the goal is a true testament of perseverance. Commitment is not just a word, it is a chosen way of life. Sometimes this comes with many sacrifices and hard work that can only be surmounted by inner drive and
Positive experience. One of the positive experience that happened when I was hired as an assistant to a fashion blogger. That position gave me a lot benefits such as I was able meet people who work in different career fields, hear stories about their life and work experience. That job gave me inspiration me but most of all because of meeting and interacting with different people I was able to chose which career path to follow. This working environment showed me how important networking is for our modern society and that there are other benefits in performing the work than just receiving a financial
I was fortunate enough to find employment as a payroll clerk at a place that supports clients with disabilities. I became so drawn to the clients I was offered the opportunity to empower some by teaching them the computer skills i had learned when I worked as a computer tech. I thrived in this new mentoring environment. One day my payroll employer asked me why I had not chosen that as a career
Having my first genuine job was a big change for me, coming into an environment with people a lot older than me. It was frightening at first; I was a tad intimidated to be frank. nevertheless I took this opportunity to every advantage I could acquire. I have many responsibilities, those include:
Though I’ve had a plethora of jobs seemingly unrelated to my career goal, they were typically what was right for me at the time in order to support myself in school. Thus, even those jobs ultimately contributed to achieving my career goal. Additionally, I learned something about myself and the social world around me at each job/volunteer position I took. I’ve had several significant life events occur in some of these jobs I had taken to build experience and pay
It was a temporary job and I never thought it would be more than three months. I liked it and I gave my best. Every day I was happy because I was going to learn something new, and I knew it was going to have a great day. I was full of the energy of desire and that desire lasted me 3 and a half years. Finally, I know life is not always easy. I learned to value small things, and above all, I learned that if you want something you can look for it and there are many ways to skip the bad people in your life. Because always, in every context, there are good people, there are good people and there are people who want and embrace the changes and that showed me my first
Then I realized that I could eventually learn to adapt to anything else with time. My supervisors should not expect me to learn it right then and there but over a length of time. I created a stressful environment for myself as many of us tend to do which led to anxiety and stress, an unhealthy way to live. I fell asleep determined to go to work the next morning ready to approach the upcoming obstacles; instead, of avoiding
When I began my new job at my current facility taking the role of the trainee was hard to get use to. Although I felt competent in my role in my new I had to learn to adjust to the fact that I was not yet .I had to learn new techniques such as motivational
My team and I were given tasks such as, emergency scenarios in saving a person life, Knowing how to do a successful CPR and using a defibrillator, all in which motivated me to be challenging whilst also teaching me how best to motivate and encourage my peers. I enjoy the challenge of working under pressure and being constantly thrown out of my comfort zone to successfully treat and care people when they are in need and this is another reason why I want to become a paediatric
To begin with, I have only had three jobs. I worked for Wyckoff Hybrids of Valparaiso, Hilton Garden Inn of Chesterton, and the Life Care Center of Michigan City. I would say that each of these job experiences have helped me grow and learn. The longest job I had was working for the Hilton Garden Inn for seven years. There were many reasons why I stayed at this organization and one would be how well the management worked with all the employees. My manager took her job seriously and would not hesitate to help out when it was needed. She displayed a great example of what good management should be like. On the other hand working for a hotel has its perks which would be getting discounts for hotel rooms, meeting famous people that would perform
Pursuing jobs that match the skills you enjoy using will more ensure you like your new position. Most skills can be applied in multiple tasks. For example, I taught school, did management training for a corporation, consulted with a retail chain designing a Human Resource Department, and provided seminars for the public. Basically, all required very similar skills. One of my students used the same skills working as a dental assistant as she did selling jewelry. She was able to show a potential employer how her persuasion of others was a required strength in both prior jobs and how his opening would let her to do what she enjoyed most.
I feel I was one of the lucky one who got a job in very nice and organized company. I received a good salary, had a nice working environment and was given respect by other employees which were really amazing despite being the youngest employee. When I entered in this job, I knew nothing. I was completely inexperienced and unskilled worker but after working here, this job helped me to improve my working skills such as how to communicate with people around me, never try to be hypocrite, stay calm and focus only on my work. Having a job also taught me to value my own work, and what I put into something. As my mother said, this job also taught me how to handle my responsibilities by myself. I became responsible for some of my own expenses. This was a valuable experience for me. I learned the value of the money and taking my own decisions about what I spend my money on. On Short, I feel that if a person works just for the sake of money then there’s no point of working. Yes, money is important but no person can enjoy the work if that person is only working there for the sake of
2.) I am referring back to my position as a receptionist at a busy hotel in Glendale,Arizona. I held this position for 8 months, I was welcomed and trained by an array of people who I believed would be around throughout my career there, however I quickly learned that the business of hotel management was a revolving door, and you learned more than enough names for the same position. Jumping forward to my third month there. I was pretty accustomed to the routine I had picked up of what was my job, but I kept a close eye to the tasks performed throughout other positions. Soon after I knew that I could essentially perform any task asked to. My confidence was yet to be tested until a busy Saturday came rolling in and I was asked to cover a double shift. I showed up about 15 mins early and prepped for what would be my next 11 hours. I stood in the break room and noticed that half of my team was indisposed, it was just me for 11 hours, to tend to the hotel.
What is the desired outcome of a cold call, one may ask? It is eliciting a favorable reaction from the prospect. A favorable reaction can be described in the following ways:
