The nursing profession is continuously evolving and changing. These environment of endless progression take along the necessity of periodical revision and reconsideration of significant concepts on the healthcare system. According to ISNA (2014), the collaboration between nurses and physicians is one of these concepts. Making the best of the nurse- physician interprofessional collaboration we can improve patient care and quality outcomes (p. 9). Based on the imminent necessity to maximize the collaboration between healthcare professionals, in 2008 two important organizations, The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) and the Institute of Medicine ( IOM), came together and designed the 2010 report “The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health” (ISNA, 2014, p. 9). The IOM report brought very significant changes to the future of nursing and its impact can be appreciated on numerous areas including nursing’s education, practice and leadership role. One of the main endorsements expressed by the IOM was that “nurses should achieve higher level of education and training through an improved education system that promote seamless academic progression” (IOM, 2011, p. 163). The Interprofessional collaboration should be introduce premature in the educational scenery to ensure early changes in the philosophy of our healthcare professionals (ISNA, 2014, p. 9).
