Beth and I took turns writing. I remember only being able to write about a half of a page before my hand would begin to hurt. We must have worked on it for about four hours, and then we were done with our masterpiece. Beth and I both thought that our book was by far the best we had ever read. We were sure we were the most ingenious children alive. The end result of our story was not so pleasant, however. We decided to read our story to my younger sister Kari, to gain her opinion on our brilliance. Kari hated the story. She became bored very quickly and found something else to do. I’ve always enjoyed making up stories or little scenarios in my mind , but I’ve never really shared them with anybody. This year I had an open class period and decided to take 10 minutes of courage and sign up or it. I had no idea that Mr. Buhrman, the previous English teacher, would make us share our writings. College students mostly get nervous about all the sudden work load that they face and may fail in many steps throughout their college life. They might end up needing help and professional advice on how to get good grades and survive their college. John Langan in “Three Keys to Doing Well in School” says (that) the three most important factors to a student’s success in college are attitude toward learning, good study skills and involvement with reading. Langan emphasizes on these three main points, sharing his opinion on how these keys are important and says that one should have much self-respect and determination to earn the reward by hard work rather than relying on luck. Furthermore, Writing and taking notes is another major key when it comes to enhancing study skills. Also, being organized and having a schedule setup for almost everything helps an individual to work on time and complete the assigned work ahead of time too. Reading is also an important step to better performance in school or college as it helps you think well, increases your vocabulary and helps you become a more successful person. These factors are some of the most important characteristics that a student should develop throughout his life to succeed in life as it helps build and strengthen the future of the student.

Learners returned to class without the document and so we completed a group activity where they made notes individually on a form and then we used the Smart board to note down what everyone had met. I chose the most common experience and we used that to base our first statement on. We discussed the unit that it related to and the group were able to ask questions. I circulated, checking their first sentence and then the paragraph for spelling and grammar issues which were identified and I used an activity to note down key words which developed into a sentence – asking what should go at the beginning and at the end, use of commas, etc. Once the opening sentence was perfect, the learners used the same skills to write the rest of the paragraph and I was able to give individual support to suit their needs on a 1:1 basis.

By using the artwork of the fantastic four (John Haward 2001) Appendix 1, I will explore how a team is different from a group. For this I will describe an award given to me as part of a team while working in a nurse led minor injury unit (MIU). By comparing the differences I shall highlight what makes a team effective rather than a collection of people.

Paragraph 1 talks that the boy screams to his parents that the dust storm is coming again and him getting ready fast for it to come. Paragraph 2 talks about him saying that it is a scary sight that the boy sees when the dust storm comes around . Paragraph 3 it tells what states that were hit by storms which were Colorado,Texas, Kansas,New Mexico,and Oklahoma. Paragraph 4 it tells on what happened to the states during the storm and that it destroyed many lands in those states. Paragraph 5 it talks about the years 1900-1930 and what happened between them and that it was difficult to grow crops during that time. During my time in Guelph, I’ve spent all lot of time volunteering which contributed to my personal development. I’m an introvert, but when I volunteer I feel and act like a different person as if another side, an extrovert one, immerges. I can easily express myself to people that I’ve never met. When I work with strangers, it seems as if I don’t worry about their opinions towards my appearance and/or my habits, which increases my ability to interact with them. Similarly to volunteering, night school, which is a requirement for summer co-op, aided with the discovery of this improvement. By sharing their diverse perspectives, working together on assignments or on research, or simply supporting each other, students can achieve more. In addition, I personally prefer a cooperative environment over a competitive one. Some of my most enjoyable experiences during the last four years have been with my school math team and the New York City Math Team, working together with the other members to help each other perform well on the competitions. We helped our teammates understand how to solve different types of problems and learned their strengths and weaknesses, eventually forming into a community. All throughout my years of schooling, I’ve had just about, one paper that was about one page long, due every year. My papers never had to be more than one page in length. Therefore, I did not have to do much writing or do many essays. Surely not enough to remember any of the assignments. Writing has never been something I enjoyed doing, so I never bothered to many any memories of my writing experiences. I did not think it was necessary to remember any of them since I only had to do them to get a grade. The only writing experience I remember was the first assignment I had in this English 100 class about a writing experience. All week long, I sat there thinking about what to write about, but nothing came to mind as a topic. Then, one thing came to mind, but it was so very vague, I could not write the length that was needed for the assignment. I could only think of a few sentences to write for it. After sitting for a few moments longer, I thought, how about I write about how difficult it was for me to write this essay before it was due.

Also you need to develop skills to be a effective team member and also an effective team leader. As a students you need to uses teamwork and leaderships skills in participating with others to accomplish organizational goals and objectives. The student should prepare to apply a team building skills, apply decision making and problem-skills, be aware of making a teamwork and leadership attributes in creating a enjoyable work environment, Determine the impact of cultural diversity on teamwork; and collaborate in community service opportunities to improve professional skills. If you apply this team building team you will accomplish a lot goals, also you will get a lot benefits. Like for example if you work as team you will perform better things than an individual, you will complex brainstorming, having different ideas and solutions, also they will identified team skills that can be taught, learned, and transferred to other students, also team players are more expected to be hired, retained and promoted. Learning to work with other people as part of a group is an excellent way to prepare for working as part of a team. We need to have in mind that the group work needs thar every member of the group understand all parts of the problem and solution complety, team work usually means that each member of the team takes on a specific task. For example, a team may be collecting engineers, managers, and marketing experts. In the real life, everything for creating movies to the many huge
