Collaborating well with others is an important college-ready quality. In my sophomore year of high school, I had to write a collaborative paragraph with three of my classmates. This collaborative paragraph was an assignment for my English II class. For this paragraph, we had to take a quote from an infamous person. We then have to take that quote and we had to try to tie in with a genocide in history. My group had the Rwandan genocide and we had to tie it in with a quote from Hitler. Teamwork, style, and organization were the three aspects that made this collaborative essay a success. Writing a collaborative paragraph was difficult because I had to work with three other people. Before we could get started, I remember that all four of us brainstormed
Throughout the course of the quarter I amplified my capacity to not only write but also to to be able to judge and edit my own writing. In all three projects we were given the chance to make
Beth and I took turns writing. I remember only being able to write about a half of a page before my hand would begin to hurt. We must have worked on it for about four hours, and then we were done with our masterpiece. Beth and I both thought that our book was by far the best we had ever read. We were sure we were the most ingenious children alive. The end result of our story was not so pleasant, however. We decided to read our story to my younger sister Kari, to gain her opinion on our brilliance. Kari hated the story. She became bored very quickly and found something else to do. Beth and I were crushed. However, we were determined to try again some day, and we did. We wrote countless stories
I’ve always enjoyed making up stories or little scenarios in my mind , but I’ve never really shared them with anybody. This year I had an open class period and decided to take 10 minutes of courage and sign up or it. I had no idea that Mr. Buhrman, the previous English teacher, would make us share our writings. When he told us we would share the next piece that we wrote in a group, I was beyond nervous because I had never shared my writing with anyone. I spent a lot of time writing it and rewriting it to make sure
College students mostly get nervous about all the sudden work load that they face and may fail in many steps throughout their college life. They might end up needing help and professional advice on how to get good grades and survive their college. John Langan in “Three Keys to Doing Well in School” says (that) the three most important factors to a student’s success in college are attitude toward learning, good study skills and involvement with reading. Langan emphasizes on these three main points, sharing his opinion on how these keys are important and says that one should have much self-respect and determination to earn the reward by hard work rather than relying on luck. Furthermore, Writing and taking notes is another major key when it comes to enhancing study skills. Also, being organized and having a schedule setup for almost everything helps an individual to work on time and complete the assigned work ahead of time too. Reading is also an important step to better performance in school or college as it helps you think well, increases your vocabulary and helps you become a more successful person. These factors are some of the most important characteristics that a student should develop throughout his life to succeed in life as it helps build and strengthen the future of the student.
Learners returned to class without the document and so we completed a group activity where they made notes individually on a form and then we used the Smart board to note down what everyone had met. I chose the most common experience and we used that to base our first statement on. We discussed the unit that it related to and the group were able to ask questions. I circulated, checking their first sentence and then the paragraph for spelling and grammar issues which were identified and I used an activity to note down key words which developed into a sentence – asking what should go at the beginning and at the end, use of commas, etc. Once the opening sentence was perfect, the learners used the same skills to write the rest of the paragraph and I was able to give individual support to suit their needs on a 1:1 basis.
Hunger. Emptiness. Death. In the novel Night by Elie wiesel speaks about hunger as something all jews were used to, empty and deprived of nutrition they were already dead. Hunger consumes all hope and love that people have with one another.

By using the artwork of the fantastic four (John Haward 2001) Appendix 1, I will explore how a team is different from a group. For this I will describe an award given to me as part of a team while working in a nurse led minor injury unit (MIU). By comparing the differences I shall highlight what makes a team effective rather than a collection of people.
Since my freshman year I’ve lived and experienced the benefit of collaboration. Both my high school and club coaches have always expressed the importance and the need to collaborate with teammates on and off the court. This was especially key my junior year. The Jserra Catholic high school basketball team I joined that year after transferring from Northwood was facing
The fifthteenth paragraph takes the reader from personal reflection to reconsideration, to general conclusion. Before the show, Dillard “thought she know my [her] way around beauty…” but then reconsiders that on that day at the airport, she had only “begun learning about beauty.” By the end, she concludes that there is “nothing...more gladdening that knowing we must...move back the boundaries of the humanly possible…” She includes these transforming detail in order to inform her audience of the journey of learning that she traveled upon. This also works to strengthen her ethos, because to her audience, she becomes a well-rounded person that is willing to accept change for the better.

During my time in Guelph, I’ve spent all lot of time volunteering which contributed to my personal development. I’m an introvert, but when I volunteer I feel and act like a different person as if another side, an extrovert one, immerges. I can easily express myself to people that I’ve never met. When I work with strangers, it seems as if I don’t worry about their opinions towards my appearance and/or my habits, which increases my ability to interact with them. Similarly to volunteering, night school, which is a requirement for summer co-op, aided with the discovery of this improvement. I discovered that I can express my thoughts freely there than back at my school. Therefore, I learned that through interaction with strangers, I become more
By sharing their diverse perspectives, working together on assignments or on research, or simply supporting each other, students can achieve more. In addition, I personally prefer a cooperative environment over a competitive one. Some of my most enjoyable experiences during the last four years have been with my school math team and the New York City Math Team, working together with the other members to help each other perform well on the competitions. We helped our teammates understand how to solve different types of problems and learned their strengths and weaknesses, eventually forming into a community. In college, I hope to find a new community of students with whom to share my
All throughout my years of schooling, I’ve had just about, one paper that was about one page long, due every year. My papers never had to be more than one page in length. Therefore, I did not have to do much writing or do many essays. Surely not enough to remember any of the assignments. Writing has never been something I enjoyed doing, so I never bothered to many any memories of my writing experiences. I did not think it was necessary to remember any of them since I only had to do them to get a grade. The only writing experience I remember was the first assignment I had in this English 100 class about a writing experience. All week long, I sat there thinking about what to write about, but nothing came to mind as a topic. Then, one thing came to mind, but it was so very vague, I could not write the length that was needed for the assignment. I could only think of a few sentences to write for it. After sitting for a few moments longer, I thought, how about I write about how difficult it was for me to write this essay before it was due.
