Moving my whole life to the United States was a special challenge to me. I had to be familiar with life style, environment, education system, culture, and tradition which are different from my country Iraq. Before I moved to the United States, I spent three years in a university in Iraq; however, these years in the university did not help me to get to the college level in the United States. It was like I needed to start from zero. I did not give up because I have a goal to be a doctor. Therefore, I took ESOL classes, passed Texas Admission Test, and now I am in my Junior year.
I am a pre-medical student and my major is biological and physical sciences. My interest in science originated in medical school was for two reasons. The first reason

I learned a lot of things in my classes that will help me in my future carrier, especially in science classes, such as Biology, Genetics, and Chemistry. For example, during Genetics lab, I learned how to amplify and extend DNA using Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) product, how to use gel electrophoresis to see the migration of DNA particles in the gel, and analysis of unknown drug compound using Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) technique during Chemistry lab. I am trying to keep the class load and work load same each semester. I have been named three times in the dean list. I did a volunteer with Harris Health System. During my volunteer, I learned how to help the patient by guiding them to their appointment room and prepare a wheelchair for patient who cannot walk. Also, I am volunteering with Health Professional Organization. Their volunteer events are related with the medical field, such as volunteer events with Houston Health Foundation, and project C.U.R.E. In addition, I am a member of Scholars Academy which offer scholarship, internship, research experience, and volunteer to their students. Last semester, I got a scholarship form Scholars Academy for my academic excellence. For community service, I am participating in church events that specials to help children who suffer from cancer. I applied for a research program, and I’m going to start this research in
Discovering and choosing a college that best suits my needs was a rigorous yet thrilling task. The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising clearly came forth as the best choice for me to further my education in design. Being unable to visit the college campus, as I live in New York, I've done lots and lots of research about FIDM, and I realize the institute offers what I hope to gain from my college experience.
I’m applying to UA Early College because I want to be able to step into college ahead of the game. I have been an overachiever since I was little and take each chance I get handed to me. This program additionally prepares me for courses I will take when in college. It gives a more profound understanding of how classes will be and the paces they will go at.
I am a Spanish major with a track in Secondary Education and a minor in International Studies, and I am an Honors College student. Hence, my course schedule is rather tight and does not have much flexibility. This study abroad program is of great assistance, as I will be able to get credits for my Spanish major and Honors College electives during the summer while exploring a new country. Through this experience, I will be able to enhance my academic interests. I am hoping to immensely improve my Spanish language skills and see education from an international perspective. Also, the Honors College emphasizes the importance of experiential learning through study abroad. In addition, my professional career goals include teaching Spanish and going
Since I started community college I’ve heard several dozen cases of people changing their major, changing their transfer college, or just changing their mind. I’m not likely to do any of that, I choose to use my time in high school deciding what I wanted to do and so far I am sticking to it without a doubt in my mind. I chose to go to community college, earn my Associate's in Business Administration, and transfer to James Madison University in the fall of 2018, graduate in 2020 with my Bachelor’s. I intend to get my Master’s either right after my Bachelor’s or within a few years of my career. I hope to have a job leaving JMU, my first accounting job of my career. I decided to major in accounting for a plethora of reasons, but not what most people expect.
Ever since I can remember I have had an intense curiosity about the world and the people in it. This is probably due mostly to my parents who read to me nonstop but it has fuelled most of my learning experiences and given me a love of the world and of people, and the understanding of both of those. This love was further developed when I began four years of learning Attic Greek and Latin through a classical education. Then, after yearning to go overseas since I was eight years old and saving for it most of the time since then, I made it to England for six weeks this summer. Here my appetite for understanding is being indulged not just with words and pictures but with real world experiences which I can touch, see, and hear. Now, as I near the end of my stay, I am looking ahead to the rest of high school and I have decided I want to make the most of my junior and
The position of honors is a much valued and highly respected position in which only a select few are chosen for its place. I myself believe that I am a suitable candidate for such a position given the type of person that I am as well as my personal experiences through business.
I am not the average person coming out from Alief, Texas. I grow up in the gang infested neighborhood that I called home the leawood apartments after living with my father for three years me and my older brother moved in with my mother and little sister in leawood we started by living in a one bedroom apartment. When we moved into the two bedroom apartment I shared a room with my older brother while my sister shared one with my mother.
I am a southern bred leader, pursuer, and helper whos mission is to spread peace, love, unity, and respect among many to create a world of cheerfulness and brotherhood. I am Austin William Carricoand this is my story. All my life I have lived in the small town of Crestview and grew up among the wilderness along with its inhabitants. As the town grew exponentially into a vast city, my heart, my mind, and my soul grew with it, learning the ways to help others and slowly turning from a boy to the young man I am today. I now attend Collegiate High School continuing my journey at the ripe age of fifteen, still promoting peace as a mission for others even when I left my former school, Niceville High.
Driving to Starbucks in Arvada and the weather was calm, cool and collective. It became the most interesting, graceful and intense summer that year. It was summer of 2012 and I sat across my bible study leader surrounded by coffee at Starbucks as she told me to grip the coffee cup. She used it as an analogy as accepting Christ in my life. As I took the coffee cup and accepted Christ as my savior, my life has forever changed and the blessings have been flowing into my life that only GOD can give. I have chosen Colorado Christian University as my choice of college to finish out my bachelor’s degree because I have a strong ambition to chase after a relationship with Jesus. I want to use my spiritual gifts I have been given to spread the love of Jesus
I would like to attend the BHS/UNM Early College Program for many reasons. As college is such an expensive endeavor it would be ideal for me to be in this program because it would supply a whole year of college for much less than it would normally. Not to mention that is may give me more merit for future colleges or businesses to offer me scholarships. I am sure that being in this program will aid me in future college as I will have already experienced it to a higher degree than most students. To me this is the next step in my life to achieve my future goals and hopes of being a college and high school graduate. I have many potential fields that I would like to pursue! My main goal is to be a musician/composer for films and other media, but
As a child, I remember always saying I want to live in a large house with all my close relatives. In retrospect, that was my greatest but far fetched fantasy, since I did not realize then how divided and chaotic my life truly was. I still don’t, since they say I pushed down all my unpleasant memories, and when I’m ready they’ll come out. I often regain glimpses of the past that hurt me deeply, so I wonder do I genuinely want to remember everything? Let’s rewind. A nickname for the South is the Bible Belt. Church is a part of everyone’s life, no matter what the social class. You pray for every meal, and every day and night you pray. I didn’t pray. There are so many different words that describe beautiful ways to worship, but I can think of none. I memorize the words I hear every day, like the Lord’s prayer, I repeat them, but no belief is held behind the words. I stare at the worshippers with their eyes closed and wonder how the same words have so much meaning for them. As I go home to my mother, her boyfriend and my step sister, I find the reason why I can’t pray. No matter how hard I deny it, they’re still the reason why.
A lot of people, especially in China, see getting into a famous college as a significant accomplishment. They plan carefully and they do anything they can to get into the best college, thinking their lives will be gilded ever since. But when doing this, most people lose themselves. They just try to do what ever the colleges might like to pack up a beautiful coat, forgetting to find out who they really are.
Born in a country where education is poor, life is hard, and opportunities are very rare, I was fortunate to come with my family to the U.S in search for a better future. I was only eight years of age when my family had to go through much hardship in order to bring my brother and I to this country. My good fortune was accompanied by many challenges such as learning English, getting to know a wide variety of diverse people and adapting to my new environment. It was a hard beginning for me, making it difficult to find the road I was looking for. The people that really support me in every struggle I have experienced ever since I was born are my parents who were and continue to be my biggest influence. I am blessed to have such a supportive and
If someone asked me where I am going to be in ten years, this would be my answer. I will have a great, high-paying job, and beautiful wife and family, and a nice sports car parked in front of my lovely house. When I look into the future, I see myself being successful and happy. Even though I always pictured myself this way, I never worried too much about how I would get there. I feel the Suffolk University can lay the groundwork for making these dreams into reality.
The success and recognition that the school of Literature, Science, and the Arts has received over many decades has drawn me to the belief that this is the designated school for me. I have always dreamt of becoming a Michigan Wolverine and pursuing a college education in the field of biology and psychology. Given the level of difficulty of being accepted into this program, it has only empowered me to work more vigorously than ever before. There are several unique qualities that attract me to this specific undergraduate college: the various programs and majors it offers and the opportunity to be admitted to a higher-level institute within the university.
