College Readiness
Ever since I was young, I knew I wanted to have a spectacular career, I wasn't sure which one I wanted, but I knew it had to be something I was in love with. As I got older I realized more and more that a college education would be the essential in accomplishing this goal. Many great careers require a high level college education, therefore getting this education early on will enable me to be successful.
One of the greatest things about early college in my opinion, is the level of difficult learning that comes along with it. Having taken an AP class I am now more familiar with the speed that a college course progresses, very fast. Along with these classes progressing very quickly, a college student is forced to take in a huge amount of information. These factors create an environment in which a student such as myself has to be very focused on what they are learning, and must study the material further in order to fully grasp all of it. Along with an AP courses, I have always taken honors classes, which leads me to believe that I am prepared to encounter the speed of college classes.

As of now I am interested in becoming a criminal defense attorney, psychiatrist or joining a field in mathematics. I am interested in becoming an attorney because the law and court process has always been something that perplexed me. I am also looking forward to exploring the psychiatrist field, the brain and people's behavior interests me. Besides those two careers, a job revolving around mathematics is something that I am also open to looking into. As far as I could remember, I have always appreciated by education and wanted to thrive with it. When i was 8 I had the great idea of becoming a mechanical engineer at northwestern.
I am motivated by my dreams, being more success and also living a better life. In the great words of Nelson Mandela “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world’’. So it’s very important to be ahead in life and for me to be focus of my career goals and what I want to accomplish. College also gives you great experience in the fields and real life training, college can also enhance skills set on computers and areas of work that high school didn’t teach you, so it’s important for me to get the education I need. A degree also can provide me with promotions in the near future.
Many people find themselves questioning the importance of a college education. They ask themselves, “Why is College important to me?” One answer is extremely crucial in todays economy. In order to succeed and have little or no struggle financially, you must have a education that will end up being a career of your choice. Not just something that you have to settle for.

The purpose of this paper is to inform the audience of two current trends that are affecting administrators, educators, and students within adult and career education. The topics that will be discussed throughout this paper are career and college readiness and online and blended learning. Both of these topics are very influential within our education today. The majority of our high school students are not prepared to go to college or begin a career and there are ways in which we, as teachers, can prepare our students to be ready for their futures. Also, online and blended learning is becoming more prominent within our education field. In blended learning classes the students are still able to attend classes but they have some aspects of the class to be completed online. Throughout this paper we will look at the philosophical, social, economic, political, demographic, and diversity of college and career readiness and online and blended learning.
College readiness has attracted the attention of educators, policy makers, and researchers (Shaw, Marini, & Mattern, 2012). Understanding the relationship between AP courses and college readiness will assist educators, policy makers, and researchers.

At the beginning of this term I did not know what college or career readiness meant. But now that we are a few weeks into this course I have realized that we need the Learning Skills, Transition Knowledge, Key Cognitive Strategies, and Key Content Knowledge to be successful without careers. It takes effort and determination to keep pushing your way through, but letting one bad grade get you down will set you up for many failures. You need good effort and a good attitude to succeed in life.
College readiness, according to Conley (2007) can be operationally defined as the stage wherein students are capable of entering a college classroom, without remediation, and successfully fulfill entry-level admission requirements. In order for students to be college-ready, there are certain skills, subject matter knowledge and desired competencies that must be mastered before leaving high school. The core areas associated with college readiness are the capacity of the students to become critical thinkers and find effective solutions to varied circumstances and situations, efficient reading and comprehension, coherent writing, and clever mathematical skills that are fundamental for all college programs and the ability to interact effectively
What is college readiness? When we say the word “college readiness “it means a lot of things to a lot of different people. In the state of Nevada, the definition of college readiness is “the pupil who graduates from high school demonstrates the foundational knowledge, skills, and qualities to succeed, without remediation, in workforce training, certification, and degree programs” (Crystal Abba, 2013, p. 3). I believe that content knowledge, key cognitive skills and foundational skills are very important and helps students at college level courses. Students arrive at colleges ready with different level of readiness. Peer tutoring is one the effective way help students to gain foundational and cognitive skills in a high school.
