Christianity teaches that God suffered and died on the cross for our sins. If you follow him and trust him you will live forever once you die. 2.2 billion people are christians which is 23% of the world’s population. Christianity developed out of Judaism in the 1st century(patheos.com). The cross, the crucifix, and the Ichthys are the main symbols of christianity. The bible is a holy book of christianity there are also the new and old testaments. Women’s homes were used as a place to go to church. Women couldn’t be priests but they could join groups called widows or deaconesses. In 1910 two-thirds of the christians lived in Europe, today about a quarter of all christians live in Europe. Some holy days of Christianity are Easter, Lent, Palm Sunday, and Ash Wednesday. Judaism and Christianity are similar because they use the same holy book, the book is worded differently.

Judaism origins arises from the times of Abraham when god made a covenant with him and promised to make his lineage a sacred people and give them the holy land. After Abraham, the ‘children’ of Israel were born. Christianity was developed out of Judaism in the 1st Century. They believed Jesus was the fulfillment of the Jewish text ‘Torah’ which is the text that both Christians and Jews alike use. The difference is that Christians also have the New Testament that is full of Jesus teachings, miracles, and revelations of how the world will end. Christianity is based on the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, those who follow him are known as, Christians.

Many of today’s most popular religions did not originate where the majority of their religious followers live. For example, Hinduism is one of the oldest major religions and it was created somewhere near or around the Indus Valley (which is now modern day Pakistan). Another example is Christianity or Christian Orthodox. This religion originated in the eastern section of the Roman Empire. Many beliefs of Christianity come from religions other than Judaism. The Jews were the earliest believers of Christ, and had fought over whether to let non-Jews convert. They ultimately decided to spread their beliefs to everyone, and the non-Jews had brought in many ideas from their past religions, therefore, Christianity has many ideas that are based off of other religions, other than Judaism. For instance, some common ideas in Christianity and other religions are resurrection, life after death, and images or metaphors. Another reason one may be led to believe that Christianity rejects the core beliefs of Judaism is that the creation of the Bible, specifically the Old Testament, was greatly based off of the Quran. This is because the original followers invited non-Jews to convert which lead to a greater influence from other religions.

Religious behaviors developed to what they are today beginning in the pre-historic times of the Paleolithic, Mesolithic, and the Neolithic. There is evidence of these behaviors in the archaeological artifacts as well as mythological evidence. Religious behaviors evolved as humans evolved.

Buddhism, as one of the three most important religions on earth, was originated from India. Later on, it was introduced to China and was widely accepted by the Chinese through a long period of hard time. Similarly, the history of the United States is also closely linked with religions. The first colonists in America were mostly puritans or pilgrims from Europe.

Beliefs; how did they come to be? Beliefs have come from many stories and myths. They believed that a bird made mountains. They did many things based on their stories and still do. There story was based off of animals creating the land and before that they lived under the sea. The culture, beliefs, and history of the Cherokee tribe can easily be seen in the Ḧow the World was Made.

The basis of Judaism and Christianity rely on the foundation set in the first chapters of their respective books. For Judaism, Genesis sets the scene for how the world was created, while for Christianity, Matthew is the first gospel that builds on Judaism to establish a new faith.

Judaism, the original religion of Abraham, is the oldest of the three religions. Their faith is that “The Messiah” is yet to come and hasn’t come yet. They do not believe in Jesus for being the messiah. For the past 2000 years the Jews have been rejecting Jesus as the messiah for just one reason, their faith in the messiah. They do not believe that the Jesus has done the things they were told their messiah would do. I have learned from the readings that I have done that up to this date the Jews are still waiting for their messiah. Jews still believe that their messiah is going to come and take them out of their misery and bring all the Jews together from all the other parts of the world. From my reading I have learned that the main reason Jews refuse to believe in Jesus as their messiah is that they say Jesus hasn’t done the things that were promised through the messiah, for example, bring all the Jews back together in the land of Israel from all over the world. Another belief they hold against Jesus is that, they believe messiah should have been from the family line of David on His father’s side, and Jesus was born through a virgin therefore has no father. These beliefs along with other belief are the difference between Judaism and Christianity. Everyone has their own beliefs, whether it's worshipping an object, a higher being, or a prophecy. But what society didn't know is that many religions connect and intertwine with one another. As seen through history, older religions began around the same time and because of such close contact, a similarity in beliefs arose. As each community grew, so did its religious influence, spreading to different areas and cultures resulting in an evolution in their faiths.
