Essential Question
1. What is finance?

Lesson Objectives
1. The students will be able to make payments when investing in something.
2. The students will be able to utilize resources to compare and contrast net pay and gross pay concepts.
3. The students will be able to manage their spending when purchasing items.

The students will start a math lesson working on XtraMath quiz to practice previous concept before moving on to new lesson.
2. The teacher will set the timer for students to complete assessment.
3. Next, the students will use their Chrome books to access graded math book to follow on with Promethean Board
4. The teacher will begin discussing money skills and how to balance financial skills.
5. The students will listen and fill-in questions while the teacher goes over as a whole-class.

Lesson Development
1. The teacher will have students use limited website browsers to access amazon.com to select items to purchase in their cart.
2. The students will pick four items that they want to use to add to their card using only the amount of money given. o For example; student A might only have $50 to spend. The student will need to be selective when choosing what to buy.
3. Some students might have a discount for going past $100 purchase or purchase something from store for each person in their family.

3. Next, the teacher will pass out individual baggies with paper money in them for students to add up their total number of dollars.
4. The teacher will set up a classroom store where students will pretend to be at the grocery store purchasing items using the paper money available to them.

Modifications (UDL)
1. Specific Learning Disability – the teacher could adapt the direct instructions and maters use during the lesson and practice time. The teacher could incorporate partner work for students to collaborate in small groups.
2. The teacher could set up rotations for students to follow a set routine and schedule when introducing a new concept to students.
3. The teacher could incorporate a positive behavior token system for students to earn paper money dollars to use for the classroom store.

Interdisciplinary Connections
1. The lesson could be changed for language arts with learning different components of the writing process such as thesis, hook grabber, beginning, middle, end, and summary
