Students all over the world face a number of problems which dishearten them. There are so many issues they have to deal with- study, time, money, relationships, job hopes, and more. Statement of the Problem:
This study is an attempt to find out the common difficulties that high school students encounter.
Specifically, this study will seek to answer the following questions: 1. What are the subjects that the respondents have difficulties? 2. Why do the students find those subjects difficult? 3. What are the coping mechanisms of the students regarding the said difficulties? 4. Is there a significant difference between the 3rd and 4th year high school students in terms of:

Hypotheses
Our hypothesis for this study is that the subjects in which the students find difficult the most are Mathematics and Science. We presume that the factors that make these subjects difficult are the teachers and the subject itself. We assume that the coping mechanisms of the students are self-studying and advanced reading. We also believe that the respondents of this research who experience more difficulties academically are the fourth year high school students.
Significance of the Study
We believe that this study will benefit the students, the teachers, and even the parents because of the following reasons:
The teachers and educators will know how to improve their teaching techniques, the materials they use, or the schedule appointed, depending on the result of the survey as to which factor the respondents believe is the reason for that subject difficulty.
Parents will
Freshman year of college, a time of joy, and frustrations. Thrust into a new world of opportunity and comradery, but also no longer having the guiding hand of a parent or guardian to assist in troubled times. We now are faced to deal with problems our own. Here at Tarleton State University, two major issues that stem from very simple problems are finding a parking spot and also lack of variety in the dining hall. I interviewed several people and discovered that these are small things to the outside world but to those afflicted by these things they can be the thing that makes a difference between doing well in class and being successful, or not being able to focus in class or being able to go to class at all. Throughout my high school career I have had many ups and many downs. High School by far has been the biggest challenge I’ve ever had to overcome. Freshman year and sophomore year were my easiest years academic wise but my junior and senior years have been very challenging. But while facing these challenges I have learned many things that may be helpful for those future seniors who are trying to get through high school.

High School Struggles High school can be very stressful, especially junior year. It is very evident that in the book “Overachievers: the Secret Lives of Driven Kids” by Alexandra Robbins, the students are very driven to be successful and often find themselves stressing out. Junior year is often known as the most important year of high school because students start worrying about ACT/SAT scores and they finally start looking at colleges. “But he had been told that junior year was the most stressful in high school. On a national scale, surveys and research have in fact confirmed that “school-related pressures were the primary source of stress for the majority of younger and older children” (qtd. in Blazer 2). Not long ago, kindergartens were places for children to play and learn basics, like the alphabet, but now all of it has changed to teaching kids about test taking, doing reading/writing exercises, and even homework (Blazer 4). In an article titled, “Success with Less Stress,” Jerusha Conner, an Assistant Professor of Education at Villanova University, and his partners conducted a study to find what students say about the causes of school stress. The research revealed that standardized tests, large assignments, and college admissions were very frequent answers. Exceeding competition has also caused stress among students because they feel the need to build the best résumé, and this leads to over-scheduled days (Redding). Expert Frank Bruni created a believable article stressing the idea that teens overstress over anything that regards to school, whether it be their grades, stride to follow in the expectations of others and themselves, being active, staying in sports, or attending every club a school may offer. I believe in this article due to its use of statistical evidence from other schools and colleges as well as Bruni’s personal experience. The article does have one major hitch that holds it back from becoming credible to most. This hitch is the lack of statistical evidence from a variety of other schools and backgrounds.
Once you’ve been in school for nearly 12 years of your life you think you know all of the tricks to conquering the school year. When a problem arises you think you know the easy way out of it or the perfect way to avoid it. Some kids probably believe that as you continue on through your education these problems will just simply decrease. As a junior in high school, I’ve come to find that that assumption couldn’t be more false. High school came as a scare to me and I felt that I was the only one going through those typical teenage problems; however, after reading How Children Succeed: Grit, Curiosity, and the Hidden Power of Character, by Paul Tough, I began to gain some of my confidence back.
School is a crucial part of a person’s life due to the amount of knowledge and successability a person might gain in their future. School can also be a place where students can interact with their fellow friends, but for others it can be a traumatizing place due to the amount of stress and also responsibility they might carry . This can be because of the stress teachers may put on the students. This can lead to students not giving their full effort on school, which will cause them to be mediocre students, and they wouldn’t be able to show their teacher the true potential they carry within themselves. These types of students are the one’s who are typically the students that aren’t successful in school. They just don’t

Fewer than half of high school students across the country feel they’re ready for college and careers, even though these remain top goals for students. High school student feels unprepared mentally and academically applying to college. Students' decisions and way of thinking correlates what their parents and families think. Parents are one of the major factors of a child's upbringing. Children tend to listen to what their parents tell them and take this manner with them as they grow older. The child's peers, environment and institutions are also part of the major factors of their decision making as they approach adulthood.
1. Family problem – family issues affect students performance in school as students are not cognitively developed but psychologically,emotionally, or affectionately developed too therefore if they are in a bad state or when family issues such as child abuse,sibling rivalry and many more are burdened on students there is the possibility for the student to flop especially in a case where the student is an excellent child.
High school is full of many twists and turns and no one knows exactly what's going to happen in high school. There can be many things that can help to have a simple high school life but there is also things that can make it harder. I am going to be talking about three of my hardships I have faced during high school.
