Most people would say it's healthier to feel than to never feel at all. Have no emotion or sympathy for another. I think people's emotions take over how clever they are, for instance, if you are in a verbal fight it could go both ways, you may want to be intelligent, so you can make snarky comments or you can be less intelligent and not pay attention at all. I would want to be intelligent because you have more advantages and life is a lot clearer to understand.
At my house, we are a humorous and sarcastic family, if you don't know how to use your words wisely don't come to my house. At home, we approve of one another, but not as much because our house is under renovation and we have to share one bathroom. But at the same time if you are intelligent at my age in middle school it would be tough and people would make fun of you. For example, in Flowers For Algernon Charlie thinks these people at his work are his friends, but they are actually making fun of him. If someone was making fun of you, you're feeling would be hurt. If you are unintelligent you would have no idea what was going on and your emotions would be intact.
It's best to be intelligent and go through the hard part, even if they hurt you because once you go through all of that there's so much to learn and to know in life that you could never understand if you were unintelligent.
