The American Revolution was a revolt that took place between 1765 and 1783. The Americans rejected to pay the British their tax. “No taxation without representation” is a quote by James Otis during the American revolution. Protests slowly escalated to the Boston Massacre in 1770. The American revolution ended when the Treaty of Paris was signed in September 3, 1783 and America gained liberty and indepence. A similar revolution to the American revolution was the French revolution. It lasted 10 years, starting from July 14, 1789 to 1799. It began when revolutionaries stormed a prison called the Bastille. It ended when Napoleon overthrew the revolutionary government and established the French Consulate. These revolutions have a myriad in common. …show more content…

America had to overcome the mighty british empire and their arsenal. While the French had to overthrow the government and rule, because they yearned for a government like the west and to be enlightened. The two main forces in leading the revolution for both countries are unique; the American colonies fighting for American Independence, and French peasants and a few higher class people overthrowing their government. Their reasons to face their oppresors were different. America started to revolt only after they made a plan, a leader led everyone, and by quotes from various famous people. The French got their fuel from America and were led by Napoleon and the peasants. Many possibilities were open to the French if they just overthrew the rulers like how the Americans did it. They got inspired by the Americans to act when they won against the British, even though the British had more power. The British were also common enemies of the Americas and the French.
