World War 1 And World War 2 were the largest militaristic wars mankind has ever experienced. Even though they have many similarities the similarities are outweighed by their differences. World war 1 started July 28, 1914 when Gavrillo Princip assassinated Archduke Francis Ferdinand of Austria. Archduke Francis Ferdinand had traveled to Sarajevo to inspect imperial armed forces. The Archduke was touring Sarajevo in an open car when Serbian nationalist Nedjelko Cabrinovic threw a grenade at their car the grenade rolled off the back of vehicle and wounded an officer. Later that day the Archduke was going to visit the wounded officer when his driver took a wrong turn as the driver put the car in reverse the car stalls and Princip seeing his chance shoot the Archduke. World War 2 used special operations they used submarines and tanks. The Germans used the blitzkrieg a German term for lighting war was meant to cause disorganization.
There were at least 16.5 million people died 20 million wounded 35 million people causalities all together in World War 1 it is recorded as the bloodiest war in American history. Over 60 million people died in World War 2 Estimated deaths range from 50-80 million 38 to 55 million civilians were killed, including 13 to 20 million from war-related disease and famine. World War 1 caused the complete collapse Ottoman Empire and Austria-Hungarian empire. WW1 also sounded the death for the monarchs in Germany and Russia. After the war the allied troops got together and created the treaty of Versailles the treaty was created to end the war and the friction between the
World War I and World War II were known as the two largest military conflicts in history. Many countries went to war and many lives were lost. Both wars consisted of many different alliances between different countries involved in whichever war.
World War I began when Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria, and his wife were assassinated in a parade on June 28, 1914. This became the excuse for Austria-Hungary to attack Serbia. Austria- Hungary had an alliance with Germany upon declaring war on Serbia, who had an alliance with Russia. This resulted in a chain-reaction because their alliances had alliances with other nations, then they had even more alliances with other nation, so by the time Austria had officially declared war half of Europe was involved in the dispute due to their alliances with other nations, thus making it a world war. The war consisted of two opponents: the allied forces (France, Britain, and Russia) and the central powers (Germany and Austria-Hungary).
Warfare methods had been the altered in regards of weaponry. During World War I, soldiers would fight from trenches and would use artillery, machine guns, early airplanes, and poisonous gas . There was little mobility during that time period. On the contrary, World War II fought using nuclear power and missiles . During this time period, many special operations were put into affect. An example of a special operation would be Operation Foxley, where the British military planned to assassinate Adolf Hitler (which was not really put into affect). In addition, submarines and tanks were also more heavily used and secret communication, or “code,” became more difficult to figure out, which benefitted them so that others would not understand their plan of attack, their location, etc. Radios were invented which were heavily used during WWII, while there were only landline phones in WWI .
After four years of trying to stay alive and killing people, World War I ended in November 11, 1918. There was an event that triggered the war to break out on June 28, 1914. The event that triggered the war was the assassination of Archduke Franz Fordincrd, that was Austrian. The Austria-Hungary gave the Serbian two demands to follow but they did not want to. The first one was to stop the group that assassinated him, and to let Austria-Hungary to send police into Serbia to investigate. The Austria-Hungary accused Serbia for the assassination of Fordincrd and his wife (Document 3). The causes of World War I is Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism, and Nationalism.
World War 1 was caused by long term tensions between European nations. This followed the unsuccessful attempt of France trying to achieve dominance in Europe. However on the 28th June 1914 there was an assassination of the Austrian heir- Archduke Franz Ferdinand’s, in his visit in Sara Jevo, Serbia. (Dugan 2000) Figure 2 shows an artist’s illustration of the Heir, his wife and the assassin during the attack. This resulted in Austria declaring war on Serbia. Russia soon pledged an alliance with Serbia, this was not long after Germany declared war on Russia. (Dugan 2000)
At the start of war both militaries used old tactics from the 19th century. The commanders quickly learned that the military could not live and win the war this way. New tactics were invented which was trench warfare . This type of warfare really slowed down the ways militaries moved to gain ground. “No mans land” was also created which was land that was between each trench that no soldiers really entered because it certain that death would probably happen. World War I changed the way war was fought forever with new technology and tactics to try to beat the new
The First World War was battled from: 1914 to 1918 and the Second World War was battled from: 1939 to 1945. They were the biggest military clashes in the history. Both wars included military organizations together between diverse gatherings of nations.
World war 1 was a large trench war that went on 1914 to 1919. It was one of the most brutal wars that changed the world. The great war killed roughly 17 million soldiers and wounded about 20 million soldiers. This war not only killed the soldiers it killed there bloodline. In this essay i will be sharing with you on how ww1 started, how it was fought, and how the U.S got involved.
World War 1 began due to the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand by Serbia nationalist. This caused Austria to declare war against Serbia on July 28th, 1914. The assassination of Austria's heir to throne wasn't the main reason why they decided to declare war on Serbia. Austria and Serbia had been recently having problems over treaties and demands Austria was making. Russia decided to mobilize an army for Serbia, this took many weeks to actually happen.
World War One started on June 28, 1914. There were some minor events that lead up to this day but, this was the day where an assassination took place. On June 28, 1914 Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated. Franz Ferdinand was next in line to the Austria-Hungary throne. Austria Hungary blamed Serbia for the Archdukes death. They immediately wrote ridiculous terms that were sent to Serbia as punishment. Austria-Hungary knew Serbia would deny them for this letter (an ultimatum) was just an excuse to go to war. Once Serbia responded with a no it gave Austria Hungary “the green light” to go to war.
World War I is often called “The Great War”. This was because it was the first war to affect such a large geographical area and involve so many countries. These countries’ governments had complicated relationships with each other and even the people who they governed. This war was largely unavoidable because of these complicated relationships and diplomacies.
World War I killed thousands of people on all sides of the war. Some say it was just the beginning of World War II. The outcomes for some of the countries was good and bad. No matter what, World War I was just a prelude for what was to come with World War II.
World War one started in 1914 and ended in 1918, and World War two started in 1939 and ended in 1945. In both wars, Germany and its allies had major parts in the beginning of the conflicts. World war one was fought between the Triple Entente & Italy versus Germany and Austria-Hungary & the Ottoman Empire. The results for both wars were almost the same. In World War one, no army lost; however, Germany politically lost everything, or most, of what she had. While in World war two, Germany surrendered after Hitler’s suicide. World War one took place in Europe, Middle East, and China, while world War two Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia. Both World Wars were fought in different ways. World War One was fought in a defensive manner from the
World War I, fought from 1914 to 1918, and World War II, fought from 1939 to 1945, were the two largest military conflicts in human history.
