Benjamin Franklin was born in January 17, 1706 in Boston. His father was Josiah Franklin, a soap maker. His mother was Abiah Folger, Josiah's second wife. Looking at his early ages of growing up, his brother, James Franklin, would go on to create The New England Courant ,basically the first newspaper ever in Boston. Ben became an apprentice to his brother, but wasn't allowed to write for the paper. Going behind his brothers back, he used a name of a fictional widow, Silence Dogood.James Franklin eventually figured out that the writer's name was fake, but the quality of the work was exceptional.
