In this essay, I will compare a few stories to Fahrenheit 451. These stories are about “Nature”, “standing up to the Government”, and WALL-E. Fahrenheit 451 helps us adapt to nature, standing up to the government, and avoiding reliance on technology. In “Nature“ it teaches us to better ourselves, the “Declaration of Independance” shows we are more powerful in the government and the movie WALL-E is a great example of how technology can consume us.
Thomas Paine once said, “Society is produced by our wants, and government by our wickedness.” In Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, Montag, the protagonist, works as a fireman. Throughout the novel, he begins to discover his true self. In this utopian society, people are conceited and have little or no emotions. Similarly, many in our society are self-centered and have limited feelings. Even though both societies have numerous characteristics in common, the two societies have multiple differences.
Censorship amounts prohibition of expression of someone’s ideas, thoughts which may be detrimental and prejudicial to a particular class of people. This book explores a dystopian world where houses are completely fireproof, and instead of putting out fires, firemen start them. They do this for one reason, which is to destroy all books. The author has many things he wanted to convey, one of which is that books are people. The theme of Fahrenheit 451 is that books encompass the author’s entire life and their opinions. Along with this, Bradbury was trying to show that by reading a book, the reader also shares these experiences.

As the saying goes history repeats itself. Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, might be fictional, but it also shows some factors from history, for example; the Holocaust. The book Night by Elie Wiesel, shares insight on how the Holocaust affected the people. Although these two books are completely different, the perfect society and the Holocaust are the same. Because they have similar characteristics in how the events happened.
Heroes and Villains has been the most basic concept that has perpetuated in literature. Good guys and Bad guys, anyone can understand that, but literature chooses to go deeper. Literature chooses to create the Heroes journey, and make it take on a much greater meaning than the reader or Hero had previously believed. For example, the fireman Guy Montag originally he had wanted to be able to understand his own life, and the paradoxes in it, with the help of the books he was secretly saving from the other firemen.
