In a time of global commerce, new business ventures can take on many forms. What used to be local or even national companies have become world-wide. International growth of a business can be extremely beneficial but is not without its challenges. Different countries have different peoples and different cultures - different ways of doing business altogether. If a venture is to be successful, these differences must be well understood.

Every country differs in culture which has been there for centuries. The international market is growing rapidly, with more and more multinational organisations entering new markets each day. In this assignment I will evaluate how the difference in cultures affects the performance of international businesses.

Leadership is about being proactive and having the initiative to implement strategies, being able to manage change, building relationships with employees and being able to influence employees in a way that meets the organization’s needs (Clawson, 2012). Leadership is about being able to persuade employees to acclimate to the company’s vision by motivating them and encouraging them to embrace change when needed. It is about building relationships and bonds with employees while guiding them so that they are able to meet their potential. It is about making them feel responsible so that they feel like they are important members of the team. Leadership is about leading people it is not about dictating orders and responsibilities to others. It is about installing a sense of importance

Global markets vary about their level of development. Also, the kind of products sold in each of these markets will differ depending on the degree of development. Language and cultural affinity are vital in global markets. Culture comprises everything from the way of thinking and doing business to the consumption arrangements of the people. Therefore, understanding the culture is essential as it accords clues on how to do business in such nations. In some countries, there exists a natural hostility to foreigners as well as foreign business. Also, culture commands the approach to dealing. For instance, in the United States as well as Western nations, they are approaching in communicating their lack of ability to accept the products, whereas, in the eastern nations, they are more circumspect (Havaldar, 2014). Leadership is about helping people, empowering people, setting clear goals and motivation, while operating to accomplish the mission and improving the organisation.

Leadership comes with responsibilities. Taking an organization to places it has never been, through new ideas and change, aids in building a responsible organization. Effective leaders tend to surround themselves with a group of individuals with different perspectives and not necessarily like themselves. Moving into a leadership role often involves letting go of some of the assignments and responsibilities held in the past. As the leader, enable others to deliver results and complete tasks. The work may get done faster and more effectively if the leader is involved, but enabling others to deliver results will lead to a more productive and cohesive team. Each individual possesses their own unique traits and abilities used to provide results for their team. Team members need confidence from their leader that allows them to accomplish goals that have been asked of them. Leaders should help create a comfortable environment for their colleagues, who in turn, enjoy coming to work

Being in a leadership role requires you to understand organization, harbor professional attitudes, and utilize proper communication. When stress and fear control our actions it shows in our work performance. You must take the time to learn the new job responsibilities and have the ability to examine yourself (Harrington 2012). When we examine ourselves we get a better understanding of our own strengths and weaknesses.
