Smart phones and computer have been around for quite a while, but the only difference is that the personal computers have been around way longer than smart phones. Before computers were a big deal, but now it’s all about smart phones and new ones that are launching soon. People may not think so much about personal computers because today’s generation is all about smart phones now. I understand that people can have their own personal opinion and may disagree with what I’m saying, but my opinion is that personal computers are better. Personal computers is a better, electronic than smart phones because personal computers are not a distraction, and are a lot more helpful. First, personal computers are less distracting. Computer actually need access to Wi-Fi in order to do anything. I believe computer are better because if you have no Wi-Fi then you can’t access your social media and wouldn’t be distracted. You also won’t be distracting while driving because you won’t have Wi-Fi and it is actually safer because you can pay more attention to driving than being on social media. Computers also don’t receive text messages nor phone calls, which is a good thing. This electronic is also good for when doing homework because you can listen to music, type better, and faster on the keyboard. In contrary, smartphones are very distracting. Smartphones can be helpful when you can’t access Wi-Fi for google maps or just looking up a store for hours, email and other notifications. Smart phones
Brief Summary In her editorial, ”Cellphone detoxing can improve your daily routine,” De Anza student Neesha Malik argues being phone-less could be amazing. Her main reasons are she stopped having to check in with her parents. She had the chance to observe the world. Her attention span improved. There is a whole world for her to experience. I agree with her, and I don't think people are too dependent on their cell phones because the cell phone is just a tool and the cell phone could be forgettable.
Studies have found that as the phone use increases, your attention goes elsewhere, “revealing that the more heavily student relied on their phones in their everyday lives, the greater the cognitive penalty they suffered” (Carr 3). The more focus a cell phone receives the more a person will suffer mentally. At UCSD around 520 students were given two standardized tests of intellectual acuity. “The only variable in the experiment was the location of the subjects’ smartphones. Some of the students.. place their phones in front of them on their desks; others were told to stow their phones in their pockets.. others were required to leave their phones in a different room” (Carr 3). The results from this study were conspicuous. It’s self-evident that anyone with phone insight had worst scores than those who didn't have their phones at all or had them in their pockets. Technology has take over us and it is draining our
We all carry a smartphone. We have what some might call an addiction for them. They are convenient in certain classes and easy to use. They are also our own escape. We can easily talk to
It is said that smartphones are a substantial distraction and cause us to make poor judgements (Journal of Experimental Psychology, Human Perception & Performance).
Computers have affected my life because in this age or generation we have a lot of things or homework to do on the computer. Without a computer at home i will not be able to get my homework, project, or any other academic activity done. At home i also need computer a computer to print a sheet or specific thing i want done on a paper. My sister can apply to jobs using computer or print out an application. There is a lot of things you can do using a computer.
Smartphones make people unintelligent. They consume people like how (22 Keen) claimed “our smartphones are actually making us more wrapped up in ourselves.” People play farmville on their phone while they are driving their car, only to proceed to claim that their behavior is acceptable because they’re not at a red light. “And that is why smartphones are making us stupid” (22 Keen) is a true reason. People remain indoors as opposed to trekking to the great outdoors as a result of owning a phone. “Unfortunately, they are making us dumb and dumber” (22 Keen) is true since a very low figure of active cell phone users are able to complete productive tasks via their iPhone. My own iPhone is used to source materials and find loads of knowledge, which
People get distracted all the time by phones firstly, people get distracted a lot on their phones, tablets, computers, and any other piece of technology from the real life world. Technology keeps us all away from your family and friends. This can be very distracting when you can just be going outside with your friends and go do something else like play sports or play tag. Technology is way to distracting in these days because people don't even care about what is happening to the world anymore instead they are just sitting on their couch on
The conflict between personal computers (PCs; developed by Microsoft) and Macintosh computers (Macs; developed by Apple) has occurred for many years. The two are constantly competing with each other to win over the computing market. Macintosh claims that their computers are more efficient when working with graphic design and media arts, while a PC is known for mathematical superiority and a stronger variety of hardware and software. Many myths about both systems have been spread amongst the consumer world. However, proper research can easily clarify these fictions. Someone looking to buy a new computer has a right to know the truths behind both systems. Though the Macintosh computer and the personal computer have been competing for years,
Several arguments are presented by those in favor of banning laptops in the classroom, and many of them are echoed. In a New Yorker article by Dan Rockmore, “The Case for Banning Laptops In the Classroom,” Rockmore claims that students who take long-hand notes instead of taking notes on their laptops retain the information better and are less distracted than those with unfettered internet access (Rockmore para. 7). He states that taking long-hand notes helps students integrate the information and creates deeper modes of recall (Rockmore para. 7). Rockmore cites studies from universities like Cornell and Princeton to support his assertions (Rockmore para. 5, 7). Aside from shallow note-retention, he implies that laptops can be distracting to students because they are portals for socialization and entertainment (Rockmore para. 9). National Public Radio’s James Doubek shares similar arguments. In his article, “Attention Students: Put Your Laptops Away,” he brings up the
Cell phones everyone's best friend these days people treat phones like are glued to their hands always needing them it's like they were made for each other but with that comes very big dangers behind the screen. Personally, cell phones can be a distraction everywhere you are in the car, school, with friends, etc., it makes life complicated. It feels like they make phones to distract people while distracting others if a phone rings everyone would look at it, it's the natural reaction to look at the noise being made by an object but when it is a phone we go to see who it was that called or texted on the phone so it can be distracting. Besides the fact that we all look at our phones a long time ago when the cell phone first came out it was a radiation machine it would give off enormous amounts of radiation all the time especially when you used it because it had to be put to your head to hear and talk into it. That's where to start the explanation why cell phones are dangerous in many ways.
2. Another factor to note is the availability of other electronic devices which has the same, if not better, functions than the smart phone. Eg. Digital camera can take better photos than smart phone, tablets can surf the web as well and the screen is bigger for reading.
Everyone knows that this is the age of computer and majority of people are using computer. Development of science and technology has direct effect on our daily life as well as in our social life. Computer technology has made communication possible from one part of the world to the other in seconds. They can see the transactions in one part of the world while staying in the other part. Computer development is one of the greatest scientific achievements of the 20 the century. Computers are particularly good at performing repetitive tasks at speeds far faster than any human or team of humans can. Small computers like home and personal computers can also perform menial tasks much faster than human beings.
If I were to ask each of you if you were able to go an entire day without your mobile device, very few can say they`d be able to do so. In fact, in a recent TIME Magazine Mobility Poll, 84% out of 5000 people surveyed in 8 different countires, admitted that they couldn’t go a single day without their phones and a third of respondents admitted that being without their mobile device for even short periods of time leaves them feeling anxious. It is clear that whenever we`re waiting for those last five minutes before the bell rings to every class, our automatic impulse is to reach for our phone. Do you really need to check anything that important? The sad truth is that we have become far too dependent on our phones. The fear that we might miss the latest gossip, or the most recent updates on all of our social webesites seems more like an addiction than anything else. We`ve clouded our vision as to what is really important, and that is-quality human interaction.
Other advantages include typing out a document, essay, letter, or a simple birthday card. We can communicate with our friends online and send them e-mails.But there are disadvantages too... some people use computers in a bad way. Some people use computers to look at things that we aren 't suppose to see. People can actually get personal information about you by tricking you to fill out applications that LOOK real but are NOT real at all.Well first advantage is getting closer to the world and whats happening around
Falling phone and plan prices have made cell phones available to the masses and the development of so-called smartphones has given users even more power in the palms of their hands. While it is fairly easy to see the advantages of cell phones and smartphones, these devices are not without their disadvantages too.
