Effects of Computer on Society Everyone knows that this is the age of computer and majority of people are using computer. Development of science and technology has direct effect on our daily life as well as in our social life. Computer technology has made communication possible from one part of the world to the other in seconds. They can see the transactions in one part of the world while staying in the other part. Computer development is one of the greatest scientific achievements of the 20 the century. Computers are particularly good at performing repetitive tasks at speeds far faster than any human or team of humans can. Small computers like home and personal computers can also perform menial tasks much faster than human beings. …show more content…
Computer has both negative and positive impacts on our daily lives. The Internet can also affect our jobs. Computers can calculate and figure out things much quicker than the average person. This process cannot only save time, but money too. Stock trading is now on the Internet, along with banking and any other type of business you could imagine. The world wants thing to be quick and easy. The best answer to that is to have a computer do it for you. In the future, hundreds of millions of jobs will be taken away from honest hard-working employees and will be given to computers. No matter what choices we make, or what plans we change, these outcomes are going to become real. Now people do not need to attend schools in public because they go to school online which saves money and time. Every day computers are getting more advanced and some day it will be computers ruling our world. Computers and the Internet are definitely affecting the way we entertain ourselves. The most basic example is card games. If the computer can deal out cards on a screen with the click of a button, why would anyone want to deal out a deck of cards manually and have to clean them up afterwards? On the Internet, you can gamble with on-line casinos, place bets on a horse race, or even watch movies. People can do all of these activities in the comfort of their own home. No gas money is wasted or time spent driving around to find entertainment so people are
The internet makes people to be more dependency. It makes people to observe more information, and to be tended to find information. People relay more in finding information in the internet today. Furthermore, people are physically involved as they try to think and find information from the internet. The internet may have small effect on people, but still it helps people.
The computer is a great invention that is used in every field including corporate offices and private homes. Computers have made our day to day tasks easier to do and made a great impact in our society that is still evolving and changing each day. Workers are able to do their jobs more efficiently and allow interconnectivity between computer users all around the world through the Internet.
A huge beneficial effect of the Internet is time-efficiency because it no longer takes days to find research. Fortunately, it only takes a couple of minutes to do a few Google searches. Another benefit to the Internet, in comparison to the last example, is that it is a channel for most of the world’s information. For Carr, as for others, the Internet is becoming a universal medium. Lastly, it is probable that we may be doing more reading today than we did in the 1970s or 1980s, when television was a choice of interest. It is assumed that we may do more reading today because not only do we have access to a variety of texts, but also a numerous amount of ways of communicating. For example, social media accounts and text-messaging. A negative effect of the Internet is that it is chipping away capacity for contemplation. The Internet is
Without the internet, people would not have been able to gather and research as much as we can today. Additionally, we can find and create diverse pages, people, and communities that let you dive deep into just about any topic. Carr also states that “The Internet is an interruption system. It seizes our attention only to scramble it.” Carr basically cherry-picked studies to make his point, even though there are also plenty of researchers that state how the internet can actually improve our thoughts, mind, and behaviors. For example, one research conducted that gaming led to significant improvements in performance on various cognitive tasks, from visual perception to sustained attention. The internet has also helped us communicate with our loved ones that are far from us. Many people including myself have relatives and loved ones that live far away. The internet has helped make it possible to not only be able to talk to my relatives but to also see them whenever and wherever I wish. Since I was a baby, my great grandma was always there to protect me and help me through rough
To start off, the internet is known to do things such as rewire your brain. This may sound like a terrible thing, but it actually isn't as bad as it sounds. Since we're always reading things online and being on our phones so often, this causes our brains to get tired when we are assigned to read a long text on paper (Nicholas Carr). And according to an article talking about this topic is, “The Net's influence doesn't end at the edges of a computer screen, either. As people's minds become attuned to the crazy quilt of Internet media, traditional media have to adapt to the audience's new expectations.” (Nicholas Carr). This excerpt shows that people these days have gotten used to having everything thrown at their face rather than having to go look for information.
Without a doubt the internet has had a profound effect on nearly every aspect of our lives. Businesses have used the internet to market their products worldwide. Various forms of online communication such as emailing, instant messaging, and video conferencing has allowed instantaneous communication to occur. The internet has provided us entertainment by way of live streamed videos, social media, online games
What mostly affected me is the computer, because I myself and other people use this device and back then people did not have computers. Without computers a lot of things would not be available things like when somebody has cancer or a tumor a computer can track where it is and doctors can determine what type or form of cancer it is. If you think about it computers saves a lot of lives we just do not put a lot of thought into it. Computers also help with crimes and they can determine the cause of death or an autopsy. One more thing a Computer can determine is DNA(Deoxyribonucleic Acid) so if someone ate something or touched something or bled or a single hair follicle the computer can match up the DNA from whoever it was.
The Internet is, I believe, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the greatest resources the world has produced. One can get volumes and volumes of information in an instant. The information is available to anyone no matter where he or she is on the globe. Now one can work from home, in the car while on holiday, basically anywhere with an Internet connection. One can communicate with friends and interact with them no matter where they are. Social media, programs like Skype and other Internet based products enable people to communicate better from a distance. We are all getting to a certain point where we are online for so long that it has started affecting how we
With today's advancements in technology and internet we don't have to leave anywhere to get entertainment we desire. If you want to watch a sporting event you can easily stream it and watch it at home. If you want to go see a movie you can do that in the comfort of your house with sites like Netflix, Hulu and Vudu. Nowadays you can even hang out with friends without going to see them. You can do this by playing certain video games online.
The effects of the internet on me and this society have been rapidly changing. Did you know that approximately 3.2 billion people use the internet, about 200 billion emails and 3 million google searches would have to wait if the internet was turned off for one day. Let me tell you about something that happened when i was little, it might be off topic a little but when i was little i was born backwards, meaning i came out legs first. My hips were out of place and until i was about 2. My dad is always on the internet and loved taking pictures of his “Little princess”, the pictures can still be found on facebook along with a lot of other things from my family memories. That was when i started wanting to get on the internet, i asked for a facebook and they said no, being a rebel i made one anyways just to play the games on it. The internet can have positive and negative things about it for younger and older people, for example the internet engines are one of the best information givers out there, they bring almost everything and anything to a lot of internet users that lange from all over the world. The internet can provide ways to communicate with family and friends from a long distance, and even meet new people. Bad things about it is people sharing and storing illegal information on the internet, much like the dark web. The addiction to the internet and the online network can be disturbing a person's way of living and professional activity.
Modern life is virtually dependent on computers and these points to the huge impacts computers have on modern life. One of the greatest leaps in development of human beings has been because of the widespread usage of computers. In fact, the computer is the single greatest piece of technology in the 20th century and as such, they have been associated with certain social impacts. There has been an immense progression in the development of technology in the past 30 years. Many good things have come of this, such as cell phones, computers and television. However, I have recently come across an article of a new, advanced computer. Essentially, scientists made a computer using DNA so it can supposedly be faster and solve more complex problems. This seems very concerning. In fact, the more that I think of it, the worse I realise it is. Could these types of computers cause more harm than good? Let’s take a look.
Computers were a huge introduction into the world in 1950s. By 1975 they were able to be used by many people and not just large companies. Computers have progressed so much over the years that it has contributed to many things (History, Development). Computer technology is the most important invention in history because it helped shape the modern world. Computer technology helps expand businesses. Advertising is a major way that computers technology has helped expand businesses. Computer technology has also helped the medical field progress. One way it has helped the medical field progress is that it has allowed doctors to communicate and share information with one another in short amounts of time. Lastly, computer technology helps to keep people informed. A major way it keeps people informed in our world today is politically.
“Computers have had an unbelievably positive impact on society. Due to the advancement of computers, space exploration took place, vehicles were designed differently, the entertainment world became more entertaining, and medical science made more cures for diseases. The computers impacted society in many ways. Life became instantaneously easier. Some people say that computers are taking away manpower, and that may be true, but computers did make the impossible possible. Business uses computers for keeping track of accounts, money, and inventory. Another area the computer impacted is the entertainment world. Computers made it possible to enhance graphics and special effects. Education has transformed due to current day usage of the computer in the classroom. Computers help students in any way they need, including researching, typing, and searching. Teachers use computers as well. They use computers to keep track of grades, type out instruction for their students, engage students in the classroom, and stay in contact with parents and co-workers. The advancement of the computer has affected the medical profession as well. According to educator and author, Edwin Dolan,” calculations necessary to medical research are being done by computers at astonishing rates of speed, a procedure that is increasing the likelihood of finding cures for serious illness.” Computers are used to help perform surgeries, come up with new medications, keep track of patients, and
The Internet has changed our lives dramatically, it contributes many things to the human development. Some things then may not be that accessible to us now, but with the rise of technology, everything is almost possible by the advanced communication technology that surrounding us. Printers, televisions, radios, telephones; all are now within our reach, especially because global trading is available to all over the world. Furthermore, with the invention of the internet, all sorts of information are accessible to the youth in just a click or a tap. Along with all these, just imagine the tons of information being thrown in each and every one of us almost every second, which would lead to a lot of problems.
