Throughout this course there are many lessons that I have learned so far. The number of topics that this class covers allowed me to better understand the concepts of Computing Ethics. From topics such as Networked Communications, Intellectual Property to Work and Wealth they all taught something that allowed me to expand my knowledge in this area.
The biggest challenge facing computing today.

I personally believe that one of the greatest challenges facing computing today is security. Nowadays, we have seen a tremendous growth in the usage of computer, whether it is for education, work, communication, science, or for any other reason. However, as our society becomes more computer oriented, the issue of security raises with it. Some people have made their first priority to use the Internet to hurt both individuals and/or organizations. These people have developed techniques to

Topics like the history of computer, Professional Ethics will help me to better understand and behave in my future career. For instance, by understand the history of computer, knowing what people have been going through so that our generation could have the technology we have will help me to embrace this profession with more passion and respect. In addition, understanding the professional ethics will help me to be a better professional, it taught me what a professional with future career should do.
In summary, I could not be more proud of being part of this class. This course has taught me so much that I have nothing to being glad of having the opportunity be learning the concepts discussed in this class. I truly recommend this course for professional spring a career in my
Being a non-traditional student, I have the opportunity to attend school while also pursuing a career in Information Technology (IT). Within the field of IT there are many avenues to explore ethics depending on the type of business that is being supported, or what the technical specialty may be. For instance, if the business operates in a medical environment that treats patients, there are privacy concerns, and ethical standards that must be followed. The same can be said for the financial community, and education. While the breadth of Information Technology and the available specializations are vast, perhaps even more impressive are the amount of trust and ethical burden placed on the Information Technology professional.
Reading over the outcomes and objectives, how will the skills developed in this class apply to your chosen career or field of study? If you are “undecided,” how will these skills help you in your future in college and in general?
I liked everything about this course. The seminars, study plans, and the weekly discussions help
In conclusion I really have learned a lot in this class and really has helped me to manage my time better
Before taking this course I was really excited about what I am going to learn. And I was right! This course is not only interesting but it is also helpful. I have learned that the grade I am having right now is the reflection of my try throughout the entire semester.
The course of Ethics 3341-01 was a real eye opener for me this year. Initially going into the course I expected to gain a general over view of what Ethics is, and the relationship it has to the world. However, we were able to analyze the relationship of ethics and how it applies to the different sectors of public life. Not only did we look at a police officers perspective of living by a moral code, we also focused on other individuals within society, such as judges, citizens, and attorneys. This course showed the different sides of morality and how easy it is for individuals to loose their way. Within our society today there are numerous problems being faced and police and other members of the law enforcement are trying to help combat these
Computers are one of the world’s greatest inventions, and sadly, one of the worst. Thanks to computers, there are so many things we can do from the comfort of our own home. We can do our banking online, pay our bills, go to school, look for jobs, and so on. Computers have made us all lazy. They have also made us unconcerned, at least up until recently, with our privacy. We all know there are bad people in this world, but it seems to be that we have forgotten that there are some very, very smart people in this world as well. It took a very smart person to invent the computer, to figure out the inner workings. But if one person can do this many can do this. Enter the computer hacker.
With our dependency on technology and computers growing in just about every aspect of our lives, from at home to business, we are leaving our information out there for anyone who has the desire to try to get that information. When computers were first used by business and the government it was easy to secure the information stored on the room sized machines. It was as simple as securing the building and rooms that they were in. Now after the invention of the World Wide Web and how we are connected through a series of networks from Personal Area Networks to Wide Area Networks, Any criminal that has the computer skills can potentially gain access any information they desire. Securing our information on our computers and over the networks we use
Over the past twenty years, the Internet’s role in our lives has grown to an everyday necessity. We rely on the Internet to communicate within the scope of our employment and social lives, to conduct our banking and bill paying, we even use it to track our personal property. There is hardly one area of our lives that we can not conduct over the Internet. While the Internet is a convenience that has made our lives easier, it has also opened the door in our lives to a vulnerability that is rapidly being exploited by cyber criminals. Cyber crimes are growing at an exponential rate in the United States and we, the consumers/end users are unaware of the liabilities a simple click on the wrong button can cause. This paper will
I thought this class was a very good class. In fact I wish that all classes were this simple. I felt like I was able to actually understand the course work. I feel as though this class as
I agree, Marvin. Realizing this makes me see how much we have progressed throughout this course. I felt this course was very intensive, but educative at the same time because of the work we had to put in to complete harder assignments every week. Knowing these basics allows us to create a plethora of programs by ourselves.
When I will work in IT industry after finish my study at that time it might be helpful. In this semester I also read and understand the rules and regulation of Australian Computer Society because to fulfil the requirements of this course or assessment and I understand it might be useful in any stage. There are lot of thing that I learned from the ACS. For instance, how to Maintain and promote a Code of Ethics as a member of the Society or IT industry, it encouraged me the standards of knowledge of ICT, I understood how to organise of effective policies on ICT and related matters, and provide me useful knowledge about understanding of ICT in the community and what kind of benefits offered to employing members of the Society. These all idea I learned from this course, before that I didn’t know about the ACS and its policy which is related to the ethical technology. I think it might be help me in future. Because, Information Technology in the 21st century allows people to develop whatever that come in their minds, anywhere in the world. Additionally, there were various type of ethical issues faced by IT industry. Finally, I also learned various new idea or knowledge from the textbook such as what kind of ethical factors include in code of ethics, code of professional conduct and professional practice. Moreover, code of ethic influence on
According to Huff, Chuck; Furchert, Almut (2014)? If we want to teach ethical practice in computing, we must therefore ask what competencies, skills, or virtues are needed to translate ethical
Playing games on my father's computer as a child fascinated me in the way the computer works, how fast it develops, and now how the computer helps the world to communicate. It still amazes me in how fast computers change and how communication across the globe is enhanced with the computer. Computers have drastically changed how society lives and does business. Even small businesses can do global sales without leaving their location. With new strategies for business, comes cyber threats of identity theft and theft of intellectual property that brings information technology security and new laws into play. It is becoming a fast and ever challenging world. Computer science enables the ability to program software for protection against these kinds of threats and vulnerabilities. It also enables the ability to program artificial intelligence into the computer system software to enable society to meet their needs in more appropriate ways.
Prevalent to the current trend now is the dependency of the society on Information technology and communication systems. Every aspect of human life is one way or the other linked and controlled by information technology tools. The importance of information technology cannot be over emphasized as its unavailability could lead to a form of disaster or the other. Pivotal infrastructures like finance, healthcare, education and security are driven by information technology. However, information technology and its benefits are accompanied by vulnerabilities and risks that can be exploited by people with the necessary technical skills. Individuals like ‘Hackers’ and ‘Cyber Terrorist’ can cause disruption to information systems, commit financial fraud and also attack computers and networks. These attacks and disruptions could result to violence against people and properties. In some cases, death, serious injuries and severe economic loss could occur as a result of these attacks.
