Introduction
According to Merriam- Webster’s Dictionary (2003), self confidence is defined as, “confidence in oneself and in one’s powers and abilities”, and confidence is defined in three ways. These three definitions are as follows: “a feeling or belief that you can do something well or succeed at something”; “a feeling or belief that someone or something is good or has the ability to succeed at something”; and “the feeling of being certain that something will happen or that something is true (Webster, 2003). For the purpose of this concept analysis of self confidence, the definition of “the feeling or belief that you can do something well or succeed at something” will be utilized.

Some individuals tend to use this phrase interchangeably with overconfidence. Others, distinguish this very differently from over confidence, believing that it brings an element where an outside individual is providing false encouragement, implying that confidence arises in the individual but it is not backed by any accuracy. With this in mind, it is similar to over confidence, where the complete knowledge isn’t backed by the level of confidence. However, it is distinguishable in that over confidence isn’t primarily linked with an outside individual providing false encouragement. Under-confidence is another use of the concept confidence and is characterized by a lack of trust of self within the individual, when the knowledge is present to back …show more content…
The charge nurse announces on overhead that a level two trauma will be arriving with an ETA of ten min. Sarah and her preceptor discuss trauma protocols prior to the patient’s arrival and her preceptor questions how confident Sarah feels participating in this trauma. Sarah states, “I passed the TNCC course but not with flying colors. I have been in one other trauma before where I was able to observe, so I have never participated before and I am not sure if I will do well or know what to do. I know that in the past, I have performed well in nursing scenarios that I had no experience in. But when I make a mistake or fail, I don’t often have the courage to try again, so I hope I don’t mess this up.” The preceptor states she is confident Sarah will perform well in the trauma. The trauma arrives, and Sarah walks into the room with
world.” So self-confidence describes the extent to which a person believes they can handle the world. If we make this more tangible, it means a self-confident person has the internal belief of “I can handle it.” On the other hand, a really unconfident person might think, “Oh my god I don’t know what to do . . .” A very important dimension self-confidence also includes “lack of anxiety,”. If we put the two together, then a self-confident person is somebody who goes through the world with the general belief of “Whatever comes, I can handle it.” Obviously, if you believe this about yourself, then there is no need to be afraid. Usually we are more confident in some situations and less confident in other situations.
The Emergency Department (ED) nurse is completing the admission assessment. Nancy is alert but struggles to answer questions. When she attempts to talk, she slurs her speech and appears very frightened.
Not having a strong sense of confidence can cause problems such as being easily influenced, having trouble making the right decisions, and getting involved in unhealthy relationships. Developing a strong sense of identity and self esteem is important because we must first learn how to understand and love ourselves before we can allow anyone else to. I am confident because I know who I am and what I want in live. I am driven and goal oriented and I will stop at literally nothing to get what I want. Being confident in myself has allowed me to express myself in a variety of ways without worrying whether or not people are going to judge me. I’m a big believer in “look good, feel good, do good” so I always try to look my best even if I’m feeling not-so-confident on that particular
“There is a difference between conceit and confidence. Conceit is bragging about yourself. Confidence means you believe you can get the job done.” says John Unitas.
And then she prepares her readers for the rest of her article by signaling that she was about to discuss “six other mini-medical histories and one dispatch from the future.”
Confidence is an inner peace a person feels when they are comfortable knowing a particular subject matter and having the ability to share that knowledge about the subject. Confidence is the courage to be oneself. It is the ability to understand and not worry about a decision made on a subject. Confidence can be seen in the appearance and posture of an individual. It can be heard in the voice of an individual, and ultimately recognized in the body language, and the walk of an individual.
Self-confidence is your belief that you and complete any task put in front of year. People with self-confidence are cool, calm and collective in any situation. When I think of self-confidence, I think of Kobe Bryant. That guy can miss forty nine out of forty nine shots in an NBA game and would not hesitate to take shot number fifty if the game was on the line. In the movie, Will Ferrell completely tears down every kid on the team.
The doctor requests Taylor to go see the patient in room 1. The doctor Taylor would be working with today was from Boston. He fits the stereotypical attributes of someone not just from Boston, but from up North period. The attitude, the snap in every word spoken, and the lack of what appeared to be happiness on his face. The very first patient she encounters is a 47 year old female that was complaining of pain in her uterine area. Before Taylor could even get a sentence out, the patient informed her that the doctor had already seen her and that she was going home. However, she didn 't mind Taylor running an assessment seeing as how it would provide great practice to the new student. Taylor begins her assessment and starts with the basics.
Upon Jane’s follow up visit, she expresses her concern about her previous needle stick injury to the nurse. She understands symptoms may take time to appear and is experiencing a lot of anxiety. She states, “I was not that worried once I had intervened with PEP,
In his TedTalk “The Skill of Self-Confidence” (15:40), Dr. Ivan Joseph discusses the importance of having faith in oneself and how confidence is ultimately a result of our attitudes/actions. He begins with a story about how, after winning the National Championship as a college soccer coach, he faced hundreds of parents and players that wanted to be apart of his team. However, despite the great skills they brought to the actual game, he was more concerned with their self-confidence, as he felt that that was the determining factor of whether or not they would be great players for his team. The entire talk sits upon that foundation; if one has confidence in their own abilities to overcome any given obstacle, they will be successful in whatever they choose to do. He clarifies that self-confidence is a skill rather than a trait because he believes it can be learned.
Norma; I did some linen changes and assisted with helping a patient, Ms. N to the ladies room. I also helped put hose stocking on Ms. N to prevent deep vein thrombus. I interviewed one my patient I had got breakfast for in the morning because he appeared well, oriented, and mobile. I asked Mr. A what brought him to Mano Care. He then showed me his foot and realized four of his toes were amputated. Mr. A went on farther on explaining what happened to him and he also had drainage attached to that foot to avoid edema and infections. Later on RN Ms. Robyn assigned me to do six Accucheck on several patients and I felt very confident doing them. I took pride for the fact that Ms. Robyn trusted me to help her

Her shallow breathing and her mother's sobbing is the soundtrack we listen to as we prepare her for the drive back to the hospital. Time is of the essence, so we move quickly. Cautious of the slick blood pooled on the bathroom floor, we place her onto a stretcher, carefully wrapping her delicate wrists with thick gaze, before loading her into the back of the ambulance.
First and Foremost, Self-confidence is defined by Merriam-Webster as having confidence in oneself and in one’s powers and abilities. My mother has built her self-confidence through learning to like herself, cultivating a positive attitude, setting personal goals, and taking risks to achieve them. Maintaining a positive support system through family and friends has helped my mother keep her perspective in line with her goals. Furthermore, she chooses to surround herself with well-intended people who weigh in providing constructive opinions. Her sense of pride represents independent, self-reflection and fulfillment of achievements. Pride means possessing personal standards that translate facets of moral character such as self-respect, honor, and dignity. Her pride demonstrates how she has pushed to accomplish her goals and her pride will not accept anything less. The ability to accomplish something in the face of opposition is considered courageous.
Being confident in the decision you make for that position(“Farrell” para. 11). Confidence is having no fear of failure(“Farrell” para. 11). To believe in yourself, trust in yourself, and you have achieved confidence. Self-confidence is something that cannot be taught to the people. It is up to the person to decide how much belief they have of themselves and how much effort they can propose. the point I have found to realize is that you must first believe in yourself before others will believe in you(“Farrell” para.11). Nobody teaches us to be happy or sad. They are natural feelings that come along as we grow into good people mentally, physically, emotionally and psychologically. When you get to the point where you allow others to determine how you feel about life, you need to stop and take an control back into the life(“Tobak” para. 15). Ask yourself if you lack of self-confidence and self-assurance that is holding you back from being the best of that you can possibly be(“Farrell” para.11). Most often these feelings come from people, allowing the negativity of other people to overcome them. You have to be willing to take control of your life and whatever is holding you back from the goal of receiving the confidence wanted. So often we as people look for the value from society before we evaluate ourselves. I have allowed society to determine how I should look, dress and feel. It is time for me
